Halfblakistani Intervention Part III (MT/IC/CLOSED)

Postby Halfblakistan » Tue Feb 02, 2016 9:28 pm

Halfblakistan

Inthe half-year since the battle of Little Corcovado, the war in Halfblakistan had changed character dramatically. The battles in the rest of the country had ground to a standstill, but the conflict between the Nasairans, their Loyalist allies and the Rebels had reached a fever pitch.

The Nasairans had occupied Cuanivale, and were using it as a bace for bombing and counterinsurgency operations in Northern Halfblakistan. Though Loyalist army was still deserting at an alarming rate, most were simply surrendering to the rebels, unwilling to fight against their former comrades.

The embattled Rebels were seemingly on the ropes. But they had an ace up their sleeve, one that would be revealed within the next 24 hours.

OOC: Vaander, The Tekkit Guy, Gedyana and Lelrenlian are invited back into the RP. Fighting will be primarily between Nasaira and the Rebels, but the gains other countries have made will be honored.

Lelrenlian: McIntire

Reinvasion

Postby Gredyana » Wed Feb 03, 2016 5:00 am

Despite promising advances, Port-Au-Vin was lost last month, with over 1,000+ dead and hundreds injured, A re invasion was promised to the people of Gredyana.
~~~
A fleet, consisting of modernized soviet cruisers , destroyers and 1 carrier is supporting the airborne troops of Gredyana.
The 875th Paratrooper Division, with over 10,500 men and women, is participating into the re invasion, with modernized equipment (from russia) and its own equipment,
paradropping in Cornerstone in order to help our socialist allies.
Men in masks and airborne-type helmets moved into helicopters and planes, along air-droppable BTR's and specialized AT / AA squads moving in, this was the first step to redemption.
FOB 80 miles south of Cornerstone
Morale was low among the Marines. The war had dragged on far longer than they expected. The next wave of airstrikes had been delayed due to bad weather in the area endangering civilians. The Tekkit Empire was frigid during the winter, but amid poor weather, constant enemy attacks, and pathetically little rations, winter in Halfblakistan was completely miserable for the troopers. Nearly 1000 had lost their lives in the intense fighting before command finally gave the order to retreat from Cornerstone. None of the troopers had any idea what exactly to do next.
The first squad was circled around a campfire in the middle of their base camp of large tents and what few armored vehicles remained. Sirvoy turned a dead rabbit on a spit roast while Laura was huddled around the fire in a thin space blanket in the regulation marines sleep clothes shivering. Reiston came out of one of the tents packing away a safety razor into his rucksack.
"Boy it sure is cold tonight." He remarked, sitting down next to Laura and putting a comforting arm around her shoulders.
"Snowstorms should end tomorrow." He said. "The Imperial T-160's are gonna bomb the crap out of those rebels in the mountains, then we gotta clear them out." Laura nodded silently.
Battle of Cornerstone [1]
Above Cornerstone
*note that Gredyanan's are suited to cold and is experienced fighting in the cold climates from previous wars which i will detail later
Antonov An-22 planes fly above Cornerstone 3950 meters, at 900 meters, Mi-17AMTsh assault helicopters drops specialized helicopter troops, dubbed "little white men", they have no markings and simply numbers on their torso chest patch, the helicopter drops off the weapons package and proceeds to the city with their guns drawn, as they open it , it reveals tons of explosives and guns.
"READY!" the commander shouted, they readied to drop off to Cornerstone along with their heavier vehicles such as the BMD-2 , BMD-3 and ASU-57's along with other heavier equipment meant for destroying tanks and jets.
The light turned green, and soldiers, one by one jumped off, while crewmen got into their tanks / vehicles and slowly reversed until it dropped, deploying the locally produced
1AE7 obr. 1999 parachute systems meant for vehicles and heavy equipment brought with it, the operation has begun.
Meanwhile, MiG-29K jets flys off from the carrier, aiming for Cornerstone while ships prepare to barrage the city with its powerful 28cm / 35cm batteries.
Operating 150km SW of Cornerstone
E-8 (Callsign: Skywalker)
31 December 2012
2010 HRS
*y'all think that Palmyrion is gonna shiver all out in the cold. Seems like you're badly, badly mistaken.*
So far almost 6,000 Palmyrian troops arrived to reinforce allied positions in retaken cities.
The New Year's mood was barely ever felt by the Palmyrian Expeditionary Forces to Halfblakistan, even if it was only 4 hours before they would say hello to 2013. An E-8, Callsign Skywalker, flew over the clouds of Halfblakistan as it watched and maintained the air superiority of the skies of Halfblakistan and keeping it in favor of the Loyalists and their allies.
The crew had been watching something peculiar going on in the skies over Cornerstone. "Sir, we got unknown x-rays, altitude is 3950 meters, on grid 0-8-0-9, what seems to be a flight over Cornerstone." said one of the crewmen as he communicated with the commander of the aircraft. "Skywalker this is Mandrake 2-1, we're seeing an enemy fleet to the west, over." "Striker 2-1, this is Overlord, solid copy, you have permission to drop supplies over Cornerstone to supply the Tekkitians. Some units have been detached from Solomon to deal with what seems to be an airborne invasion of Cornerstone."
In no time such a data was forwarded to the nearby fleet, as well as nearby fighter squadrons who were already eager to attack once more. In one of the airbases, an F-48 awoke from its slumber, the silence in the airbase broken by its engines roaring in rage, its sleek figure standing out in the moonlight of that night, ready to take off if the pilot wished.
"Control this is Killian 1-4, requesting permission to take off, over." "Solid copy KIllian 1-4, you are cleared for takeoff. Weapons free, weapons free."
No sooner did the fighter zip through the runway towards the rather troubling spot of Cornerstone, a place with confirmed allied presence but the allied presence itself was under a rather massive threat. Senior Airman Arturo Malachit looked by the windshield of his fighter as the silhouettes of the tropical trees zipped by his fighter as it taxied across the long runway, a runway that was made hastily over the past 6 months. Even then the F-48 had the ability to land on strips of desert sand, and this one was a more difficult challenge of moist tropical soil, something the fighter's landing gear would have trouble attaining traction with.
Sr. Airman Malachit was joined by another 4 fighters from his flight, and cruised all the way to Cornerstone. "Skywalker, be advised, we're responding to the aerial attack. Keep tabs on the bogeys over Cornerstone, we're coming in." said Malachit as he cruised through the gloomy skies with his fighter and 4 other pilots.
"Boys, we got them on our radar. Weapons free, weapons free. Banzai, banzai." "Good tone, Fox Three!" "Fox Two!" radioed the pilots as they launched their air-to-air missiles one-by-one against what looked like hostile aircraft over Cornerstone. "Boys, anyone who can confirm what they are?" "Skywalker here, we've tracked them to a point north of Nelson, enemy suspected with feet wet."
It was all but a day, with the enemy aircraft being destroyed by the F-48 fighters with much ease. Meanwhile the reinforcements for Cornerstone were only 1 hour away, and a carrier-based supply aircraft filled with supplies intended for the Tekkitians was underway.
"Tekkitian air command, this is Lancet 2-1, flying angels 40 over Cornerstone, requesting permission and coordinates for HALO supply drop." radioed the pilot of a carrier-based cargo aircraft with callsign "Lancet 2-1" as he neared the location of Cornerstone. Meanwhile the reinforcements did the same.
Rhino 2-3, an MRAV in IFV configuration, trudged through the forests of Halfblakistan as it swiftly responded to the attack on Cornerstone. Infantry onboard M214's were following close behind them, with the heavier MRAV's and LMRAV's taking the lead to take much of what could seem hostile fire. The infantry heard explosions from above, and the wail of a fallen metal dragon as it crashed down into the forests south of Cornerstone. "Tekkitian forces, this is Rhino 2-3, 10th Mechanized Brigade Combat Team, Palmyrian Army, requesting permission to support your forces, please respond, over." "Tekkitian forces, this is Rhino 2-2, 10th Mechanized Brigade Combat Team, Palmyrian Army, here to provide reinforcements with your permission, please respond over."
Following just 10 km south of them was a supply convoy filled with food, water, and fuel to ward off the cold of the night. These were intended both for the Palmyrians and the Tekkitians, for them to be able to find respite after a rather tough time of suffering many casualties for 6 months straight.
GLORIFICATION OF MY TANK INCOMING , AND LONG
Postby Gredyana » Fri Feb 05, 2016 4:55 am
-They are far enough west from the coast, guarded by cruisers and destroyers armed with Kashtan CIWS, VLS S-300 missles and 3K95's along with their powerful guns.
-if you see any military designation that looks weird as fuck, thats locally produced!
~~~
The An-22 planes were coming back to drop more, along with the heavier, more powerful NT-95P, With composite armor (Dolly Parton) , Kontakt ERA blocks and locally produced Shtor ERA blocks, Arena APS and a hefty 135mm gun that is equipped with rounds enough to penetrate over 1,100mm RHA in a disance of 2,000 m , along with a high-definition camera to look 360 degrees (NVG and Thermal included, with the gun sights too! ) and fire from it with a KORD 14.5mm machine gun, along with a AESA radar for the APS systems onboard of the tank, it is a now a heavily modernized tank for future conflicts to come.. (base the upgrades on T-100 Varsuk in arma 3 brov )

The tanks slowly backs up, and drops thus deploying its parachute and landing near the designated landing zone, some witness a explosion of their MiG-29K's and crashing into the forest below, and wild gunfire.

The assault helicopters pinned down loyalist and tekkittan troops, firing its GbYz-33 14.7mm gatling gun, and Kh-15 missles against armored vehicles in the city,
Squads of men supported by BMD-3's assualt a loyalist positon, the BMD-3 fires its 30mm grenade launcher in burst, causing smoke and the smell of flesh everywhere, trenches and sandbags dug up by loyalist troops were quickly cleared out by grenades or a molotov.

air-dropped 91mm ''Mizhna'' mortars, were quickly set up in defensible positions and conduct Harassing Fire onto spotted and guessed enemy positions.
Suddenly, everyone could hear large pops of a large gun, a few seconds later a 28cm shell hits directly on defensive forces, designated by laser..

IGC (Internal Ground Corps) teams, equipped with western and eastern modern equipment, are sent in to "cut off the head" and neutralize all ability to command the garrision.
Armed with silenced AN-94's and SR-3M automatic rifles, the leader puts on his Holographic Sight on his rifle, and makes a hand gesture to move into the city.

Since Port-au-Vin, engineers are setting up satchel charges below concentrated enemy forces, a small pack of them was dropped off and wired outside a outpost, and the detonator was clicked. BANG , BANG! the road leading ahead suddenly was gone, loyalist men and women are suddenly gone, either dead or drowning in the sewer.
Men rush to a building, going the side of the destroyed infrastracture and attacking the center, while other teams are sent to deal with loyalist pockets in the city.

The officer, Grad vax Harias, with some roman descent, puts up his binoculars, and says to himself, "This is actually going well.."

January 1st, 0620 hours

The marines, who had met with the Palmyrionian resupply convoy south of Cornerstone, ran for cover, heading into the woods where the helicopters would have trouble spotting them, they ran as fast as they could as machine gun bullets flew past them through the foliage. The scene was chaos as allied troopers ran for their lives, many falling dead to the unrelenting force of the helicopters. It was obvious from the heavy bombardment that Cornerstone would be lost if they did not do something fast. By this time, the marines had managed to take cover in caves or behind large rocks. Reiston could see the first red and orange rays of morning sunlight peaking above the horizon, piercing the black night sky that was no longer obscured by heavy storm clouds.

"How much longer?" Reiston shouted to Sirvoy, who was hunched over a small radio with a long antenna holding the phone to his right ear.

"Specter-1, Blackjack-1, I have a flight of 6 Tu-160's and 10 TK-3 escorts inbound from the East for to bombard rebel positions, ETA 5 minutes, over." crackled a young voice over the radio.

"5 minutes!" Sirvoy said before turning back to the radio "Blackjack flight! Our position is compromised- abort mountain bombing run and redirect your payload to these coordinates in Cornerstone, prioritize enemy armored vehicles! Get your escorts to target the helicopters!"

"'Specter-1, uh, do you have the proper authorization to change Imperial Air Force targets?" Asked the bomber pilot over the radio, confused.

"I've got tons of men wounded and over a dozen killed! I'll take the heat for it later! We're all gonna fucking die here if you don't redirect!" Sirvoy shouted as the machine gun fire grew closer and closer to his position and the distant yet distinct whine of the bombers' supersonic engines were very slightly audible.

"Very well, Specter-1, we are acquiring targets now. ETA 1 minute, danger close." The flight leader said. Not soon after, the high-altitude bombers flew overhead, unleashing a payload of several dozen 500lb precision guided bombs, 12 Kalibr land attack cruise missiles, and another several dozen 250lb laser guided munitions, targeting the approaching armor. They immediately turned back around and headed East so as to avoid enemy SAM fire. Two of their escorts, which were based off of a highly-modernized Mirage-III, made a brief swoop and released 6 heat-seeking missiles at the attack helicopters, but had no munitions remaining to engage the enemy transport planes before turning back to escort the bombers away.

Image

The marines watched the ordnance fall with newfound happiness. The Imperial Air Force had proven itself a capable and punctual force, but was limited to only a few flights a week because of a lack of airfields in Halfblakistan capable of rearming and refueling a Tu-160. Still, the Tekkitians and Palmyrions had paid a heavy price- He was unsure of how many of his allies were wounded or dead, but he knew that at least 25 of his own men were dead and over 50 wounded and unable to fight by a combination of machine gun fire, artillery, and explosives. Above all, he was banking on a brigade of paratrooper reinforcements reported to arrive in the next 3 days.

"That was good timing, but don't count on them saving our asses again- they won't be back for another few days." Sirvoy said to the squad. "There's bound to still be tangos in the area so keep your eyes peeled!"

OOC: Reinforcements, SADARM, and a brutal air fight incoming. You have been warned.

1 January 2013
6:25 AM

A long, arduous, and bloody fight is about to begin

"Boys, we're here to take some heat off the Tekkitians." said the commander of one of three reinforcing companies as he prepared to get the mechanized forces into action. Cornerstone was becoming one of a hellhole for him-again a pandemonium he did not expect it to be. One of his hunches was that the enemy was thinking of taking Cornerstone and from there take the rest of Halfblakistan.

"There's reports of enemy armor and gunships, as well as questionable air superiority, but for as long as we do our job, we're gonna win, and we're gonna do nothing but do our jobs to the finest! Salve!" "Salve!" replied the soldiers as they disembarked from their IFVs, tanks, and APC's. Unexpectedly they sent Combined Arms brigades, to increase the firepower of the Palmyrian Expeditionary Forces to Halfblakistan.

Explosions razed the auditory landscape of Cornerstone as an air battle raged and the land battle became a rather long tug-of-war for Cornerstone between the allied anti-Communists and the Gredyanans as enemy and allied armor fought each other to the death.

This time, the Gredyanans managed to get to the technological level of the Palmyrians.

This time the tanks were rather menacing in looks, being able to penetrate the front of a Palmyrian M211M1 by the front, something a good deal hard to pull off as Palmyrian tanks usually had almost 1,000mm RHAe of armor at the front, much similar to the Russian T-14. Some were lucky bastards though, being able to survive a hit to the turret front and able to fire back, with its 140mm gun firing an APFSDS round that can penetrate over 1,200mm RHAe at 2,000 meters. The enemy tank was also equally hard to defeat, even then.

"Eyes up! Enemy gunship to the north!" "Team! I saw an Igla in the diner to the west! Get it now!" commanded a sergeant as his squad got moving to the diner just to get an Igla missile. The Igla was on an olive-grey container with dark blue foam surrounding it, presumably its container. A senior private grabs the Igla missile and aims it at the helicopter.

The Igla goes beep as it was aimed at the helicopter, and when he receives a lock he fired the missile, shooting the helicopter down. "Helo down!"

"Slaya Flights Alpha and Bravo coming in to reinforce with airstrikes, respond with suspected artillery sites, over." Skywalker radioed to all forces, both Tekkitian and Palmyrian, with a request to identify suspected artillery sites for aerial bombardment. "Slaya, this is Vampire, killing incoming projectiles with CIWS." "Slaya, Skywalker, extrapolating artillery pathways for suspected enemy artillery sites, will need some time."

Skywalker takes their time to extrapolate the artillery sites. Meanwhile the CIWS-or better yet Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar (CRAM)-were busy intercepting enemy artillery rounds, supported by an adjacent battery of Iron Dome launchers that did the first strike against the incoming enemy fire support rounds, at least for the ones that came into its bigger protective hemisphere vs the CRAM system. Some rounds would still strike though, but at least it was not so many rounds that hit the place.

"Slaya, Skywalker, artillery sites extrapolated, sending in coordinates." radioed Skywalker as Slaya went into combat. In no time every pilot in the Slaya squadron knew the approximate positions of the artillery sites, and they would use this to great effect, destroying them without any hesitation. "Slaya 2-1, going in hot." Airman Herman radioed as he prepared his guided bombs to destroy the artillery emplacement, at least to ease the artillery bombardment on Cornerstone by the enemy. "YOLO, weapons free! Bombs away!"

The guided bombs hit whatever they can hit; even hardened artillery emplacements would not be able to protect against the precision guided munitions, for such munitions have decreased the value of digging in artillery emplacements ever since they were first put into service. "Slaya Alpha and Bravo, can you engage enemy air forces before pulling back to base?" "Roger that. Air-air engagement, permitted, emergency air-air weapons free."

Senior Airman Harold Gavan pilots his aircraft to go in for the kill, an MiG-29 that was oblivious of what was behind him: the fangs, the claws, the hard-hitting implement of war of the Palmyrian Air Force, the F-48 4.5-generation fighter that has seen itself boasting an excellent record of kills. "Guns guns guns..." radioed S. A. Gavan as he opened fire with his 30mm chainguns while he tries to acquire a lock on the MiG-29 for him to fire a missile, but before that he approached the MiG-29 using a lag roll.

He manages to shoot the MiG down using a combination of one air-to-air missile and a nice dose of explosive 30mm rounds, but S. A. Gavan is being chased by another MiG-29. He executes a J-turn to get himself behind his then attacker, afterwards raining on him a hail of bullets and another missile.

Still not satisfied he shoots down a helicopter before returning back to base.

"Hostile An-22, what a nice jackpot, I'm goin' in." said another pilot, airman Baldonado, as he riddled the An-22 with a few bullets and destroyed the cockpit using an air-to-air missile, and destroying its left wing with another, rendering it unable to fly with one wing destroyed and the crew killed, and thus it crashed down to the ground.

Meanwhile on the ground, the infantry were assigning fire missions to the nearby artillery site. "Battery Alpha is in position for a bombardment, dial in target over." "Copy, Alpha, target is a tank at Grid 0-8-0-2, requesting SADARM, over." said a platoon commander as he hid behind a building's wall be an alley, looking at a tank that was suppressing a squad in a building.

The nearby artillery site fired a SADARM-equipped 160mm warhead. Each 160mm warhead was armed with two SADARM munitions, which were released at an altitude of 1,000 m above the target area. Each submunition would be lagged by a ram-air parachute to de-spin and slow the submunition. Second was a vortex ring that would slowly spin the submunition for it to sweep an area as it is suspended 30 degrees from the vertical. Each submunition would be guided to its target by a mm-wave radar, a passive mm-wave radiometer, LIDAR< and an infrared telescope. Once above the target tank it would unleash an explosively-formed penetrator that was more than enough to destroy the tank by piercing its thin rooftop.

Cornerstone

The artillery were being hit hard by the Palmyrions, making the mortars move up and take improvised positions to use it as a improvised cannon, designated as the A7NC ''Karghon'',

The An-22's has finished paradropping and is returning to base, where more paratroopers and a new jet, will arrive soon to the battlefield.
"When is the heavier artillery going to arrive? we cant just rely on the navy!" The general said, the airborne commander replied: "Don't worry, our boys back in the mainland are bringing in heavy armor and artillery, you do not need to stress yourself."

The squad of airborne troopers set up a machine gun position, aiming its PKP at the street and firing bursts at loyalist troops, "300m, Left!" the gun quickly swiveled to that direction and fired onto a man aiming his rocket launcher at the building, he quickly fell down.

NT-95P's began to be increasingly a common sight in the city, along with two infantry sections assaulting a position or a building held by loyalist pocketeers.

28cm shells has devastated fortified positions and has decreased hold on the city from the loyalists to the communists.

MiG-29K's are attempting to ensure air superiority and CAS duties.

Just south of Cornerstone

The battle was beginning to even out with both the Palmyrionian reinforcements and the effective airstrikes on the approaching armor, but the Tekkitians did not want to make another push deeper into Cornerstone before the paratrooper reinforcements arrived. The troopers watched as several MiG-29s raced past overhead and Sirvoy got back onto the radio. The marines only had a limited amount of SLER launchers to kill armored vehicles, and would need continued air support.

"Blackjack Actual, Specter-1, multiple hostile fighter aircraft in the target zone, recommend returning with more escorts, over." He said. He turned to one of the allied Palmyrion officers and said "Set your laser designator frequency to 104.3 if you got one, the Navy still has 3 battlecruisers off Chomsky Island with a payload of cruise missiles. Make them count."

Terrace AFB, January 1st, 2013

The Imperial Air Force, seeing the situation on the ground, agreed to ramp up the amount of air strikes and greatly increase the frequency of them. The Tu-160s landed, taxied to the hangers to refuel and rearm with more ordnance. The 500lb precision bombs were both cheap and effective weapons that could destroy armored and soft targets at 1/60th the price of a cruise missile. 3 bombers were outfitted with a payload of 45 of them each, two of the bombers were equipped with 65 250lb precision guided bombs, and one had 6 short-ranged cruise missiles that would be laser-guided by Tekkitian ground troops.

The supersonic bombers roared off of the ground once more after undergoing its maintenance and resupply. Additionally, 25 escorts took off with them instead of the previous 10. They had the basic design of the old Mirage III, but with vastly improved electronics and systems, including greater flexibility for weapons, including a 30mm cannon and 6 hardpoints on the wings for missiles and bombs.

Beginning at 0400 on New Years Day, the WPRA launched an all-out offensive on Loyalist cities and their occupying allies. This offensive was called the Zoumou Offensive for a squash and mutton soup traditionally made on New Year's Eve.

In Cuanivale, Kindred, Marley, Port-au-Vin and even in the Loyalist base of Cornerstone -along with other cities-, bombings and attacks against army bases began. WPRA guerrilas killed Loyalist soldiers in their drunken sleep. Loyalist dissidents "fragged" their officers. Nasairan and Tekkitian compounds were assaulted with plastic explosives by AWU-7 commandos.

A C-47 Skytrain carrying Loyalists north from Cornerstone to Cuanivale to support Nasairan efforts there exploded in midair due to sabotage. Dozens of bombs erupted at police baricades across the country, and trains carrying Loyalist troops were derailed, with every living sould being offered amnesty if they surrendered... or death if they refused.

Since the Nasairan escalation, thousands of WPRA soldiers had died or been wounded, but today would prove to the world that the WPDRF would win the War, no matter what the cost.

North of Cornerstone
Crash Site "Mothball"

"This is Skytrain 2-1, we're getting blown up! Mayday, mayday! We need-" said the record that was the last of a crash C-47 that was transporting soldiers from Cornerstone to Cuanivale. It was a lucky thing they knew that there was such a thing as black boxes, or even witnesses that somehow survived a nice hit.

This was a test for Palmyrion's quick response forces-they needed to arrive quickly to the many trouble zones that suddenly sprang up everywhere in Halfblakistan. Trains derailed, bases under siege, transports shot down-it was one of a kind of a hellhole.

"Halo, Halo, this is Hiker 5-4, we're engaging enemy forces by the riverbank to the east! We need support, do you copy?"

It was all trouble; the Palmyrians and their allies didn't expect something like this, much worse for a military fashioned for a conventional battlefield.

Nevertheless the Quick Response Force deployed to the nearest hotspots of trouble. "Overlord, this is Hammer 5-1, we're en route to Crash Site Mothball, give me a SITREP on the ground, over!" "Solid copy, Hammer 5-1, it doesn't look good from here! The guerrillas are everywhere, and air superiority is giving us nothing to rely on! We're being hugged! Danger close is imminent!"

"Overlord, get the fucking gunships cleared to engage!" "Negative, Vanguard 2-2, it's danger close!" "Overlord! Get them to engage! Danger close or not, it doesn't matter anymore!" "Roger, Katana 3-1 moving in for danger close attack, over." "Boys! Danger close! Get down!"

On that day the gunships had no choice but to fire with danger close being highly disregarded. Even if they managed to make a nice dent into the attacking force of the rebels it was still a hollow defense, a Pyrrhic one in that instance, as close to entire bases had to be subjected to bombardment from the gunships.

Even then the quick response forces did their job.

"Overlord, we're here at Crash Site Mothball! We're engaging a massive amount of hostiles from all directions! We need air support, danger close!" "Solid Copy, Hammer 5-1, moving in for air support mission, danger close."

The gunships were at it again. This time they covered the crash site with a lot of debris, shrapnel, and explosions as they obliterated the guerrillas firing on the defenders of the crash site that were trying to salvage whatever they can.

"Boys, protect the DSM at all costs! It's got precious intel inside!"

Cuanivale, Halfblakistan
0405 HRS

The soldiers did not celebrate New Year other than a simple feast of MRE's (for the sake of not being caught off-guard), and nighttime patrols had engaged the brunt of the enemy's attack on Cuanivale.

"This is OP Delta 2-1, we're seeing a mass of hostiles attacking in force from the southeast!" "Hostiles attacking in force, coming in from the east!" "We got a massive wave of hostiles from the west, we need reinforcements, over!" blared the radios of the soldiers as they were all looking outwards to the sky all to celebrate new year.

The soldiers in Cuanivale immediately responded to the attacking wave of rebels, and the rebels they met with similarly heavy force, with a whole lot of armor on their side as they rolled to combat with the rebels that were attacking forcefully from all sides, save for the north.

"Overlord, this is Misty 2-3, get the rebels a nice dose of bombs! Target package Quebec! Danger close!" "Misty 2-3, negative, negative, we cannot risk it, it's a hundred meters from your position Misty 2-3!" "That's not a suggestion, just send it!" "Roger, going in for danger close air support mission!"

The soldiers did not care about danger close, for all that they thought was to immediately obliterate into shreds the rebels that were attacking with full force.

Meanwhile top brass had ordered every unit to withdraw to the southern regions of Halfblakistan, and defend it to the last.

Firebase Thor, 30 miles north of Cuanivale

2nd Lieutenant Kyle Marsh

The war seemed to have dwindling down with only a few firefights In-between with the numerous seek and destroy patrols being sent out daily. The escalation in the war seemed to have proved effective as the rebels had retreated to the dense jungles or mountains that HALFBAKISTAN was known for. At the current moment Nasaira had deployed 75,000 soldiers to the country in hopes of winning a quick victory for the loyalist. But this goal seems to have been lost, the loyalist army had proven to be a useless ally in the war.

With the war dragging on and the strain it had placed on the military a draft had been set in place in Nasaira, 4,000 new recruits were being drafted monthly to fight in the war making it a very unpopular affair. Protest were springing up all over Nasaira to protest involvement in the war.

By the time 2nd Lieutenant Marsh arrived in the country Nasaira had established several key bases in the country, signifying a commitment to the war. Chopper flew over head, probably sending more platoons out to patrol the vast jungles of the country.

0415 News Year Day,

Fireworks could be heard and the laughter of celebrations as a new year had finally arrived, a temporary ceasefire was put into effect in honor of the holiday. Lieutenant Marsh was fast asleep with most of his platoon in their dwelling when alarms started going off.

The screech of the alarm shock the men awake as the lights flickered on followed by a low rumble and another rumbled that was quickly identified as mortar fire.

"Fuck get to battle stations now!"

Men scrambled to get their gear as outside was a mad house with everybody on the fire base running to their predetermined positions to defend the base. Return mortar and artillery fire erupted, sending rounds on the rebel positions as infantry took position in sandbag covered foxholes with tracer rounds lighting up the morning sky.

South of Cornerstone

The attack was unexpected and caught the Tekkitians off-guard. They knew they had little chance for survival outside the city, where there was little cover, and they had to somehow make it to a more defensible location inside the city. The Imperial Combat Engineers had fortified some buildings as strongholds, and there remained the slim chance that some of them were holding out.

"Lets move! Run!" Sirvoy shouted to the rest of the marines behind him. They made a mad dash to the city entrance, where the fighting continued to intensify. They saw in horror plumes of smoke rising from burning buildings and that the rebels had left many loyalists dead on the streets. Taking cover behind some cars on the streets and opened fire on some of the rebels still there. They cleared the streets and ran up to the last known location of a Tekkitian stronghold. The building was completely in ruins, leveled to rubble by explosives, but there was still hope: they could hear gunfire down the street. Someone was still putting up a fight.

The marines managed to catch the attacking insurgents off guard and temporarily routed them. They soon found themselves in front of a heavily damaged apartment building, barricaded and fortified with sandbags and other materials by the engineering corps. One of the troopers opened the reinforced door allowing what marines remained inside. There were only 20 of them that entered, the rest of them were scattered and separated. The troopers could only hope that they could hold their own against the enemy.

Inside were a few combat engineers and a very small amount of regular infantry. Some were tending to wounded, two were manning .50 caliber machine guns.

"Holy crap, man what the hell is going on!" Reiston exclaimed

"I don't know. The damn rebels struck us hard. They're going to be back and its good to have more people who can fight. We don't have much in the way of food or water, but you're welcome to it." Said the commanding officer of the engineers.

"Specter-1, Blackjack-1, how copy?" Sounded the pilot's voice over sirvoy's radio again. He took it out of his backpack and put it back onto the table.

"Blackjack-1, Specter-1, the hostiles have launched a major offensive! We need air support!" Sirvoy ordered back into the radio.

"Solid copy, Specter-1, 10 minutes to weapons release on rebel targets" Said the pilot. The bombers with their 25 escort jets were nearly there,

"We need to get the hell out of here, its not safe. When the bombs start dropping, we use the confusion to make a run for the next stronghold. I'll radio for an evac from to pick us up at a safer LZ" Sirvoy said.

Terrace Defense Headquarters

Massive amounts of fireworks erupted from the Grand Imperial Palace as huge concerts and parties were being held all over the Tekkit Empire. The citizens celebrating new years were completely oblivious to what was actually going on half a world away, but that would not last for long. News of the offensive would add more fuel to the already popular movement to completely withdraw from Halfblakistan.

"Our men are dying out there. We need to get them out." Minister of Foreign Relations Karl Kessler said, urgently.

"That would make complete fools of our nation!" Defense Minister Charleson argued back.

"Sir, its the first squad, they're trapped in cornerstone and they need immediate evacuation!" Reported one of the officers in the command center.

"What the hell are we going to do? We don't have any transport aircraft to get them out of there." Romanov said.

"That's not completely true, sir." Said Timothy Nelson, commander of the navy, "The battlecruisers carry a kamov Ka-27. The three can evacuate the marines to the Loyalist's last base that they resupplied at a 6 months ago." he added.

"Very well, tell them to secure a landing site and we'll get them out!" Romanov said, enthusiastically.

The Zoumou Offensive Part I

Postby Halfblakistan » Wed Feb 17, 2016 1:37 am

0432 hours, January 1st, 2013
Cornerstone, Halfblakistan

The nation was in chaos. Communist scum were taking major strategic and tactical points all across the country. The village of Tidcomb near Marley had been recaptured by resurgent rebels attempting to retake the city from St. Marks. Much of Cuanivale had been retaken, and the Gredyanans and others had coordinated with the rebels to make the most of this treacherous surprise attack.

And President Iain Smith was now frantically contacting all of his field officers, alternately encouraging them to hold their ground and scolding them for being unable to control their men.

The deadliest problem was the propoganda coup this was for the rebels. The WRPA could now confidently proclaim that they were stronger than ever and, contrary to popular opinion, they were able to mount a major offensive on all fronts.

But Smith had a counterplay: a new unit that would rip out the communist weed by the root. Their officers were some of the fiercest -and admitedly most barbaric- members of MacLoed's Special Constabulary, the vicious secret police of their time. The body of the unit had been trained in counter-insurgency by the Nasairans.

They were Special Operations Group- Anti-Terrorist or SOGAT, and they would set fire to the prairies until the Marxist specter over Halfblakistan was no more.

Same time
St. Mark's, Halfblakistan

The corpses of Vaanderian and Tekkitian soldiers were everywhere as the WPRA advanced on their compounds. Sylvia Scott-McMaster provided supressive fire as her comrades continued to search the area for intel.

News from across the country was spectacular: Port-au-Vin had been captured by a dual Gredyanan-rebel offensive, and much of McIntire had been taken. Cuanivale was being defended by the Nasairans, but they had been caught off guard and many of their warplanes had been destroyed on the ground. And, perhaps best of all, Gredyana was attacking Cornerstone from their aircraft carriers!

Now they needed to press on to Marley and recapture the city.

Cornerstone

both Palymiron and Loyalist soldiers were dying left and right, the mortars would aim at a building directly, where a loyalist GPMG is firing, and the trigger is pulled.

KABLAM!

The building went down like crumbling cards, GAZ Tigr's with AGS-30 and PKM on top are doing hit and run tactics, breaking up loyalist lines in half.
A new 40mm grenade loaded into the breech, as the soldier aimed and shot a fast-moving loyalist Land Rover, it exploded in flames and jumped into a building.

The Internal Ground Corps ( or IGC / IGR ) , an independent branch of the army, has recently intervened into Cornerstone, providing vital intelligence and support with its elite troops.
MiG-29K's, are providing air support along with the land-airforce MiG-29's.

A Palymiron F-42 fighter came toe-to-toe with the MiG-29K, the pilot engaged his AA K-74M missile at the jet, while at the same time fired his 30mm cannon, the jet quickly bursted in flames and flew in the direction of the city.

Firebase Thor, 30 miles north of Curnivale

The attack on the firebase was dwindling down as the Nasairan soldiers repelled the attacks by the rebels, but Firebase Thor was the exception in the country. The rebels had taken several key locations throughout the country and pushed many allied troops out of the cities and there defensive positions.

Reports were coming in from other units and allied soldiers reporting their situations which in some cases was very dire. In situation in particular was the down C-130 which war rented an immediate response, a CH-47 with a platoon of marines boarded and departed for the area in which the plane was shot down.

As the rebel attacks continued the code word Broken Arrow was called which called every aircraft in the area to immediately bomb rebel positions with napalm and any other ordnance that they could carry.

Somewhere in Cornerstone , Night

"Alright men," a squad leader whispered, his insignia shone thru the moonligh. The 111th IGC Regiment, he took out his map and shone a bright flashlight at it, it illuminated the darkness around the group.
He composes himself before he speak, "The armored tanks are getting hit hard by Palmyrion artillery, we must eliminate those sites and make way for the infantry,"

"We can spot the sites thru this." he carried the ZALA 421-12, a russian-supplied UAV, portable enough to be launched by hand, "The man beside me will control the UAV and help spot the artillery, while we find and destroy the sites, Got it?" They responded with yes sirs or simple grunts,

"Alright, lets move!" They picked up their silenced SV-1991's and their camouflaged ballistic masks, heading towards a nearby IGC engineer section.

~~~
Cornerstone , Same Day
"GET THE FUCK DOWN!" a soldier screamed, shrapnel grazed his face as he delayed a second to duck under heaps of sandbags and wooden carts, A BMD-3 quickly joined into the firefight and fired its 100mm cannon at the opposing side, bursting the position in flames, this signalled tons of squads being pinned down to push with the BMD, as it quickly captured the surrounding block.
"The Imperial Military Staff have just announced that a massive coordinated rebel offensive in Halfblakisan claimed the lives of nearly 1000 Imperial engineers and marines. while the Imperial Air Force scrambles to assist the ground forces, rumors of a complete withdrawal from the country have begun to surface. No footage of the attack is presently available as it is believed that no Tekkitian war reporters have survived the attack. The war in Halfblakistan is being called the 'single most disastrous conflict in Imperial history' and a 'complete and total failure of the Romanov administration'. Reporting live from Terrace on One Empire News, I'm Mark Akulov." said the suited man on television amidst the background of the capital city of Terrace under the morning sun. Public outrage was beginning throughout the nation at the ineptitude of their nation's leader during the war and the major failures of the war were mainly attributed to poor leadership among the officers of the military.
Cornerstone, Halfblakistan
"Specter-1, weapons deployed, we are history." said the lead bomber pilot, putting his majestic Tu-160 into a sharp right turn, sweeping back the wings, and accelerating to maximum speed to exit the combat zone as soon as possible. no lights were on the entire aircraft, making it very hard to spot against the night sky.
"Drop that damn camera and take a rifle!" Sirvoy said to a war reporter.
"But sir, that's against..."
"I don't give a shit! 10 bombers just released their payload on top of us! Take it and move!" He shouted. The 1st squad and what remained of the other platoons ran out of the building as fast as they possibly could as the unguided bombs began to impact the ground and explode. Only under the cover of the falling bombs could the troopers make any advance with minimal resistance from the enemies. The whistles attached to the bombs to intimidate the enemy gave some warning to the marines as they ran for a clearing that was once a city square, flattened by a bomb at some time. Cruise missiles also from the bombers flew past them, tearing through the air and making an ominous ripping noise before creating great plumes of fire and reducing buildings to rubble. No one knew who, if anyone, was being killed in the bombings, but it bought them valuable time.
Three small helicopters buzzed over them from the right towards the square in the midst of the chaos
"There's our ride! Hurry!" Sirvoy shouted, pointing ahead. The troopers reached the square where the helicopters hovered a few inches above the ground. The soldiers ran into the helicopters as quickly as they could. The doors closed on the helicopter and it lifted off the ground, leaving a huge cloud of dust. Despite only being used for anti-submarine warfare on battlecruisers, the Kamov Ka-27 helicopters were small and agile, yet able to be fitted with enough weapons to suppress the enemy, making them perfect for fast strategic insertions and withdrawals like the one happening now.
Image
Reiston looked out the window at the city growing smaller with every passing second, then turned to Laura.
"I never believed in anything...but now, after over a hundred bombs fell and every single one missed us, I can't help but think something up there was looking out for us." He said.
"Do you believe that some things are meant to be?" She asked back "That the universe determines that some things must happen?"
"Well, maybe that is the case, since I can't help but feel that I am in love with you." He said, extremely reluctantly.
"Oh shit! Fucking called it!" Sirvoy called out from across the cabin.
"Dammit, man!" Said the other squad rifleman, handing over a wad of Imperial Dollars to Sirvoy.
Cornerstone
"Weapons free." a click of a button and thousands of 30mm rounds flies out of the barrel on the side of the wing, exploding each impact to loyalist forces.
500kg JDAMS detach from their attachment, and flies at the direction of firing loyalist / tekkitan forces, before it got blown up into pieces, killing tens of hundreds.
a NT-95P appears on the side of its street, showing its battle scars, blown off ERA, dirt and probably blood on the front end of the tank, aims its turret at a loyalist MBT.
"Degrlex, switch to AP!" with a click of a button, it automatically unloaded and loaded the round, "FIRE!" the round penetrates into the turret, exploding in fireworks-like flames.
IGR Specialist teams are pinning down the loyalist squads, accurately firing their SV-1991's at their cover, both regular and IGR men are breaking into the remains of the sewers, making them nicknamed by loyalist commanders "pimples of the frontline"
The First Attack on Cornerstone
Postby Halfblakistan » Thu Feb 25, 2016 2:42 am
0847, January 1st, 2013
Coventry Suburb, Halfblakistan
Outside of Cornerstone
The Gredyanan bombardment of Cornerstone had spurred the WPRA into assaulting the capital of the Loyalist forces. President Wolker activated all available WPRA clandestine cells in the area for an attack on the strongpoint of Loyalist resistance.
Corporal Leola Watkins of the 2nd Cornerstone Liberation Regiment -in reality a force of about 300- took out her ancient Webley .455 revolver and began walking the streets of Cornerstone, seeing the thunderous firebolts of Gredyanan ordinance in the sky.
Image
A Webley Revolver
She met with Lieutenant Max Holder and a group of WPRA rebels about three blocks from her home, looking to cause panic among the Tekkitian and Loyalist forces.
The group was armed with a variety of outdated arms, from World War one vintage Lee-Enfield long rifles to Pattern 1914 Enfields to truly obsolete muskets and even clubs with nails hammered into them.
They eventually ran into a group of young ruffians, themselves armed with weapons of their great-grandparwnrs generation.
A shot rang out, and both groups took cover.
"Who you?" Watkins shouted.
"Laawlist milisha, furst compani! Laya down aams!" A loyalist shouted in kreole.
And then shots rang out in the morning sun, each untrained squadron trying to lay down suppressive fire.
Then, a Gredyanan bomb exploded just a block away, and the Loyalistis retreated through an allyway.
As the WPRA soldiers made chase, they realized that they had been drawn into a trap... Tekkitian soldiers were at the end of the allyway!
Loyalist Stronghold, South of Cornerstone, January 1st,
2013
The 1st squad and the remnants of the Engineers stationed at Cornerstone disembarked the helicopter where several imperial logistics trucks were resupplying loyalists. As he approached the nozzle of a water truck to refill his canteen, he received a message from his radio. He picked up the phone-like receiver and answered.
"Specter-1, Specter-8, we have taken several armed rebels prisoner, request evac. Be advised, one of our guys got shot in the leg and needs immediate medical attention." Said the squad's NCO leader, Sgt. Riker.
"Specter 8, understood. Evac is on the way. ETA 5 minutes." Sirvoy replied.
Cornerstone, 5 minutes later
Sgt. Riker stood, eyeing the prisoners and clutching the receiver of his radio. He wore the uniform of a Lesser Officer, equivalent to an NCO, that included a navy blue coat under his body armor and a blue Kepi on his head. In Halfblakistan, many officers chose to wear the helmet of a fallen compatriot to be less of a target, but many still valued their pride as an officer. He looked first at the rebels, his squad and 3rd squad pointing their rifles at them, then at the medic treating the wounded soldier
"The hell kinda wound is that" he asked
"Not sure sir. Looks like a .50 caliber size but at lower muzzle velocity; much less clean than a high-speed sniper bullet. I managed to get...this...out." Said the medic, picking up a large, bloody metal sphere about the diameter of a dime.
Soon, the helicopter came flying in low overhead to avoid the air battle between the Palmyrionians and Gredyanans, and hovered inches above the ground. The doors of the helicopter opened and the fresh troops jumped out and forming a circle around the pile of weapons the soldiers confiscated from the rebels. The 2nd squad pushed the prisoners on the fold-out fabric seats facing outwards at gunpoint before climbing in themselves. The chopper took off toward the 1st squad's base where the prisoners would be fed, given rest, then interrogated. Riker despised using Tekkitian food to feed enemy prisoners, but in being decent to prisoners, they encouraged the rebels to surrender and, more importantly, give honest answers to interrogation.
