A beginners guide...

The WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest aims to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple regulations that need to be adhered to.

  1. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song whenever they choose, and after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate, nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Nations may not vote for themselves.
  2. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used but at least 80% of the lyrics must be re-written. Translations of real-life songs will result in immediate disqualification.
  3. Nation's are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative.
  4. It is compulsory to vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
  5. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation; the master nation must confirm their puppet. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
  6. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
  7. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification.
  8. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
  9. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process.
  10. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
  11. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
  12. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.

RADIU-TELEVISIUNE KALOSIA & ELKTEL PRESENTS

KALOSIAN-ELKEAN JOINT BID FOR THE 43RD WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST

Image

In order to make everything clear, the Kalosian-Elkean bid for the 43rd WorldVision Song Contest has been divided into 2 parts: one that presents the IC aspect of the contest, and one that discusses what will actually happen in the forums.

IC Bid

Image

Welcome to Monterra. That will probably be the first thing you read or hear when you disembark, assuming you’re coming by plane.

Venue

The contest will be held in the Monterra ConcertHall, which previously hosted WorldVision 27.

Image

Many facilities are available in the venue. For example, in the gift shop you can buy all kinds of merchandise, such as mugs, scarves, phone cases, and even towels. All of the merchandise is related to the WorldVision Song Contest, and most of it comes in different colours/patterns for each participating nation.
There’s also a restaurant at the end of the arena (near the entrance) where fans can dine in specialties from all participating nations before they enjoy the show. Artists and delegation members can have the food delivered to their dressing rooms.

Postcards

Image

The postcards designed for WV43 would be simplistic in nature yet capturing the main information of the song's entry, as well as the country it was sent by. The boxes design that have information on the country as well as the flag on the left, and the artist's picture on the right flows with the thematic design scheme for WV43.

Stage Design

The proposed stage for the 43rd WorldVision Song Contest will have a 64-piece orchestra, the same one that appeared in the 19th World Hit Festival. It is the RTVK Symphony Orchestra, whose instrumental rendition Goodbye to Yesterday, the previous winning song, was used as the backing track for the entry's live performance.

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

The caves with triangular openings on the left and right side of the stage (pastel blue in the above pictures, although actually white) are not part of it, rather these are entrances where performers and props will be brought to the stage from. The stage itself is 32m wide and 18m long (keep in mind that it is diagonal so it is not parallel with the audience.
Other features include a satellite stage and a runway (which are separate from each other). The runway has 3 endings, and the lengths (from the stage to those endings) measure 40m, 50m, and 45m respectively. The satellite stage can be entered from the stage and from backstage (the “cave” has a little opening to access the satellite stage).
Behind the stage is a LED background screen 20 meters tall (though it won’t be fully visible due to the stage design). The stage floor is also fitted with LED. Both regions are indicated with a pattern in the above pictures.

For the first time in WorldVision history, RTVK is planning to install the latest holographic technology in order to create stunning visual effects, particularly those that can’t be physically achieved on stage. The main purpose for this is because we care about the safety of our visitors, and this is our solution to achieve the deadly performances some delegations would wish to have while minimizing actual casualties at the same time. But if you just want an aurora or something to appear above your singers, that’s fine too. While this concept has been proposed in Kalosian bids dating as far back as WorldVision 38, it has yet to be implemented in the actual contest.

Tickets

Image
Image

The tickets proposed for Worldvision 43 in Monterra would be equally impressive as those suggested by both Nobreloen and Todlichebujoku in Worldvision 36.

Unlike those proposed in the previous Nobreloen bid in Worldvision 36, these tickets will be made of light aluminum cased in a thin clear Gorilla Glass lining to prevent cuts or scratches to the ticketholder.

Also, to enhance the experience of Worldvision fans and contest viewers and to make the experience a memorable one, upon the purchase of the tickets online (or at one of the ticketing agencies), there are areas on the tickets of which fans can design their own. This is to make the tickets personally unique, as well as to serve as a memento to keep after the show, for remembrance.

Furthermore, in order to enhance the inclusiveness factor to the disabled, the tickets will also consist of Braille lettering to inform them about the ticket details for the sight-impaired, and through the use of a experimental technology developed by Kalosian and Elkean scientists to allow neural signals to be sent to the brain to effect a certain image, to aid the deaf-blind.

There will also be use of geolocation features embedded in the tickets for audio guidebooks, in built into the ticket, which can be paired with a Bluetooth hearing device.

Tickets will also serve a dual-use function that acts also as a free transport pass, museum pass and debit card as well. This would decrease the need for fans who are coming to watch the show the need to change cash if they so wish not to, and would also allow them to travel for free around the city and visit sites with just the ticket alone.

Voting Scoreboard

Image
Image
Arlnonsen voting in progress

The voting scoreboard follows the sleek design of lines, and is meant to be functional, readable, yet stylish without being too cluttered. It was designed in a such a way in order to promote building closer friendships between nations and inclusivity into Worldvision between the participating nations.

Why vote Monterra?

Radiu-Televisiune Kalosia has successfully hosted WV22 (as RTM) and WV27, as well as submitting high quality bids for the 32nd, 38th, and 42nd contests. And despite not being a member of the WorldVision Committee, RTVK is very committed to their participation in the contest, as proven by the fact that they are constructing an archive.
The broadcaster’s most recent high-profile production was the 19th World Hit Festival, which was a major success. The quality of that show should give you a picture of how well RTVK will host WorldVision.

However, due to financial problems within RTVK, the event is sponsored by Elktel of Elke & Elba, which will co-produce the show along with the host broadcaster. In the past, they have also sent a high quality bid, particularly for Nobreloen to host WorldVision 36. With a multinational team involved in organizing the show, it is hoped that this will lead to a better and more diverse event.

OOC Bid

Roleplaying

There will be an orchestra pit, but using it is optional. You may bring your own conductor. Only the stage, the runway, and the satellite stage is designated for your performance. The “caves” are considered backstage (though you can certainly have your artist make an entrance from them).
We can’t exactly tell you what you can and can’t do but the stage design means the only way for your entrants to get to the audience is by jumping off the satellite stage or walking from the end of the runway. From the main stage you’ll have to climb through the orchestra pit before reaching the audience.

Layout

I (Kalosia) will link about every IC post in the OP including commentary (except perhaps votes, I’ll link per page though) so that it’ll be easy to come back to any specific moment in the contest and pick up where you left off. Useful when you’re voting/writing commentary (especially when you’re in the middle of a page and have to go, with no way to mark where you’re up to). Most likely the OP will be integrated into the opening act, but this will be subject to further discussion between the co-hosts of the show (Kalosia & Elke-Elba).

Voting

The scoreboard is available for participating nations who have adequate imaging processing software (read: Photoshop), of which a country could utilise to their hearts content from here and here.

Also, for the first time ever, the voting scoreboard is also available in a slightly altered form to cater to countries that do not use imaging processing, or have incompatible imaging processing software (read: Excel) as those used by Nobreloen and Kalosia, available here.

Miscellanous

This bid is a fusion of the bid originally sent by Kalosia for WorldVision 42, along with concepts and components introduced by Elke & Elba in order to renew the bid and keep it unique. While the true reason for the joint bid is because of RL issues, the two of us are working very closely to ensure a great show.
This is likely the first joint bid in WorldVision history and we will make sure the show runs well. And so from RTVK of Kalosia and Elktel of Elke & Elba...

WE HOPE YOU ENJOY WORLDVISION 43 in MONTERRA!

The Festival of Normandy has been running for 50 years, and has seen many famous Normand singers compete. The show is like Sanremo, except it only takes one night and only stays on until 10:00 PM NST (which is equivalent to GMT/BST) , although it does start at 6 O'clock. The show consists of a Children's contest, the 5th round of Normand talent show 'Téol' (Star) and the Stars' Competition, where 7 well known Normand Musicians compete to be crowned winner. This year, BNRT - finally deciding to keep the National Final after the very successful result on home turf - decided to scrap the hastily produced 'Esan Volla' and have instead decided that the winner of the Festival of Normandy will be the Normand entry for WorldVision 43, with the song that they performed at the festival.

There was a large discussion about that rule during either the 41st or 42nd contest. Those who were involved may also show themselves. It is a more fair way to vote, in my opinion.

With the end of the 42nd Worldvision Song Contest, and Polkopia taking the bronze with the Polkopia group, Luptani singing, "On Lavit", sung half in Polkopian and the other half in English, the song finished with 87 points. The PNB has decided to opt for a National Final yet again to determine Polkopia's entry along with the same format as before with the results being decided between a 50/50 split between international and national juries and domestic televote. The PNB almost opted out for Worlvision altogether, due to political reasons conflicting with other participating nations, but the viewer turnout for Worldvision from the Polkopian public prompted the PNB to once again, enter the contest.

In order to vote, please send a Telegram to Polkopia with the songs rated in Worldvision format (12 points to your favorite, 10 point to your second favorite, and 8-1 points for the rest.)

Despite getting last, we enter again. Monica Fellera will sing 'Casablanca' to the tune of Monica Aspelund's 'Lapponia', which got 10th for Finland in EVSC 1977. The song will be only in Volcanic, and is about the beautiful Volcanic capital and the joys of romance there, with a piano!
EDIT: Whoever wins the bid, please note we require an orchestra.

Though puzzled by the mysterious time skip, TÖBUK has opted to shift the scheduled WV42 entry to WV43- thus the Tödlichebujoki WV43 entry will be Rushing Through The Dark by Kultaiset Pievos.

GEORGE ALLISON TO WORLDVISION 43

Image

In a shocking statement last night, MRX said that for WorldVision 43, you will see "a different direction to previous entries", which encompasses George Allison (pictured) performing a solo act at WorldVision 43. The title of the song, "You Know I Can't Stay", set to "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, will adopt a softer approach to WorldVision 43 than Mister X prefers.

Commentator Sam Smith, who is currently planning to attend and commentate on WorldVision 43, commented the following: "we don't have any experience of jam, really. So I don't really know what to expect. However, I can see why MRX have taken the direction that they have taken. Whenever we've poured money into a huge production - or even something minimalist - which is a knife, or even the one time we did bread, we've got a solid but unspectacular result. This, in many ways, is a yardstick for WorldVision 44. A top 10 or even top 5 here means that jam is our way forward, and we can go on and win in 44. If this flops, we'll have to go back to the knife policy, I guess."

Details about the stage performance are currently very sketchy, but Allison said that he would be wearing an open shirt, and that the dancing will be choreographed by Craig Rebel Snorewood, one-time WorldVision commentator in WorldVision 36. "Craig's perfect for the role. He doesn't miss anything, does Craig, and he'll choreograph the perfect dance that will convey emotion. He also commented that the passion is so great he thinks I may be overdressed for the occasion."

Nobreloen confirms WV43 participation

Despite Elktel's intentions to make Nobreloen's participation one-off, the less-than-disastrous result as well as two ten points meant that Nobreloen's music isnt seen as some sort of voodoo magic at the international arena.

Elktel intends to send Elva to WV43 this time (her song to the tune of Enya's Echoes in Rain - THERE, another newish song) - hopefully to better or equal the score set by Brina - 9th placing.

I must as well just book a place in WV43 for Arlnonsen. While I foresee that I do not have sufficient time to write 2 songs, I have one expletive-laden one done that I might just want to dish out.
