This is a roleplay to create the history of the region Nordic Lands from 1650-1900.

Current Year: 1650

1 IRL Day = 2 months
6 IRL Days = 1 year

Day 7 of every week (Saturday) will be the day where the next "year" (6 days) will be planned and the previous "year" will be reflected on, often containing updates. My old dating system was deplorable. I changed it to a simple "7 days 1 day = 1 year".

Try to be realistic. I refuse to let people have gatling guns during the 1600s.

Diplomatic Relations at the time: Despising of Copenhagen Metropolis & Askerike; Unfriendly to Emmen; Friendly to Newer Austrian Southern City-States, Western City States, & Majland
Internal Affairs at the time: The Union was an absolute monarchy, with King Christian II as the monarch. Despite his failure during the Ten Year's war, he is still relatively popular with his subjects due to his centrist views & willingness to lead an army throughout the war.
Land Claims: Everything in the main factbook minus the Southern Islands

Nation Name: The Grand Imperial Realm of Unofa.
Description of Formation: By 1650, the War of Unification was in full swing, as Unofa wasn't formed until 1657. The primary combatants are Kalos, Xhin, Hyland, Hōjō, and Germania (all of which are regions later plus 6 other nations who join in 1657)
Diplomatic Relations at the time: Hōjō, Xhin, and Hyland were allies, and Kalos and Germania were allies. Unofa not formed until 1657. These 5 nations were very Isolated from the rest of the Nordic Lands (with exceptions).
Internal Affairs at the time: The Unification War was in full swing, so the region was chaotic. The governments were monarchs, who would unite to form Unofa, a constitutional monarchy, in 1657.
Land Claims: North-east Ireland.

Nation Name: The Free Cities of Iceland

Description of Formation: Iceland had been inhabited long before the Scandinavians arrived, by an indigenous people known as Itl'tl. The Itl'tl community is estimated at about 25.000-35.000 by 1600, one year before the arrival of the Scandinavians.
Iceland, of course, had been known to the people of Europe for a very long time, however, it wasn't permanently settled until Sven Skidställ, a wealthy Scandinavian adventurer arrived with three ships in 1601.
In 1603, Svensborg was founded.
Sven established a solid friendship with the Itl'tl communities and would be known as *("Suen-Chi") in Itl'tl, meaning "Sven of the Sun", a very honorable title.
After his death in 1617, relations between the Scandinavians and the Itl'tl began to deteriorate.
By 1650, several communities had been established on the western coast. These settlements were largely independent at the time, with their own laws, militias etc.
Rising tensions with the Itl'tl would lead to closer co-operation, however, and the first steps towards the modern Svenskis.

Diplomatic Relations at the time: Largely neutral to the outside world. Hostile to the Itl'tl.
Internal Affairs at the time: Only the western coast is settled by the Scandinavians. They have formed small, largely independent city-states whose main concern is the Itl'tl and how do deal with them.
Land Claims: In 1610, Sven Skidställ officially claimed the entire island as his own, and his descendents in 1650 see this as a valid claim as no one else opposed it. (Will eventually lead to a civil war)

* The name Svenskis was inspired by this title, when the winning side in the War of Formation chose a name for their new state. Other examples were Neu Svitjod, Skidland and Svenland.

[Vulkanas]

Nation Name: Vulkanas
Description of Formation: After centuries of fighting amongst themselves, the native tribes managed to organize themselves onto a federation in 867. In 1553, a merchant stumbled upon the tribe, and the tribe adopted him as their leader. The merchant wrote to Copenhagen and they sent a team of colonists to the area. By 1647, war exhaustion was high and the colony managed to peacefully gain independence during the 10 years war as it was already very autonomous anyway. It was named Vulkanas as the indigenous people called themselves the Vulks.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: Relations are good with Copenhagen and neighboring states Valkyrja and Russainia, and neutral to everyone else. The attitude towards enemies of Copenhagen is slightly lowered due to fondness of Copenhagen.
Internal Affairs at the time: The people of Vulkanas are very happy, due to their recent independence. They have a King that people are fairly fond of, although they classify themselves as a commonwealth as they are still firmly in the sphere of influence of Copenhagen.
Land Claims: None other than currently owned land.

Nation Name: The Empire of Emmen
Description of Formation: After the end of Emmen War of Succession, the new Kaiser Markus aspires to be as powerful as Askerike and Copenhagen Metropolis. In order to fullfill this, he employs a rigorous expansion politic.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: At war with the Southern Alliance, friendly with Askerike and Copenhagen Metropolis, unfriendly with Sjaelland and Fyn & the western City-States.
Internal Affairs at the time: Absolute monarchy. Kaiser Markus is loved in Emmen for he brought many goods into the town, however hated in the occopied country.
Land Claims: The RL provinces Drenthe, Groningen, Fryslân, Flevoland, Gelderland and Overijssel, as well as any territory of RL Germany north and east of that, basically the north of NAU.

Nation Name: Alliance of Southern City-States
Description of Formation: In order to prevent further expansions by Emmen into the south,in 1649 cit-state head met in Den Haag and formed this alliance
Diplomatic Relations at the time: At war with Emmen, friendly with Sjaelland and Fyn & the western City-States.
Internal Affairs at the time: The Alliance is far from united, the only part that can agree on one issue is the Military, making it a decent militaristic force, however it is but an obstacle than a opponent for Emmen
Land Claims: The RL provinces Utrecht, North and South Holland, Zeeland, Noord Brabant and Limburg, as well as any remaining territory in RL Germany and Belgium, basically the south of NAU.

The Western City-States do not count as a single nation, and take up the rest (French) part of today's NAU.

January 5, 1650: Ler's forced to retreat west, as his forces were depleted by Gen. Pierce's forces at Brighton Beach. Gen. Pierce pursues Ler's forces
January 9, 1650: Ler turns to face Pierce outside Fort White. Second Battle of Fort White ensues. Battle lasts 8 hours. Bloodiest battle of the war, with 6,400 dead in first hour of battle. Ler forced to retreat further into Confederate territory, while Pierce retreats to meet up with reinforcements.
January 14, 1650: Pierce goes back on the offensive, but is ambushed in eastern Germania. Loses half his forces to Confederates. Retreats southwest towards Kyoto, with Confederate forces, under Commander Grant (C), in hot pursuit.
January 20, 1650: Gen. Pierce flanks Com. Grant, forcing him to surrender.
January 21, 1650: Com. Grant leads a daring escape from the custody of Gen Pierce, with the help of Gen. Ler. Successful, the Confederates hide in Kyoto, the Capitol City of Kyoto.
January 21-27, 1650: Kyoto is besieged by Imperial forces in an attempt to flush out the Confederate Forces. Finally liberated on January 27.
January 30-31, 1650: Confederates retreat, scorching several Imperial cities. Zapherius joins Imperial Powers as a result.

Diplomatic Relations at the time: Is pretty much isolated from the rest of the world since they are trying to establish their own country at this time. However they do dislike their neighbor Copenhagen due to their way of ruling. Mostly neutral opinions on the rest of the world.
Internal Affairs at the time: Monarchy, ruled by the strict but proffesional queen Veronika Angmark. Her main goal is at this time is to reduce the gap between the poor and rich. More equality, want to rule with kindness. Her son Johan Angmark and the heir do not agree with her ideology.
Land Claims: The same as today.

Well, since my country at this time is so isolated and busy trying to build up their home I figured they wouldn't have had any time to make friends or alliances. That will of course change during the RP. The dislike against Copenhagen at this time is because of most of the refugees came from there (as you figured ).

Nordfassen is surrounded by minor Bastionian states such as the trade cities around the gulf of Bothnia and former fiefdoms to the southeast.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: The Kingdom has a long history of regular wars with the southern minor Bastionian states and fiefdoms for control of the trade cities. However in 1601 Nordfassen was forced to surrender when the port cities called upon Baltic Kingdom allies to the south. The signing of the Bastionian Treaty equalized the Kingdom with the minor states and fiefdoms.
Internal Affairs at the time: By 1650, the Kingdom is still an absolute monarchy. Although the minor port states and fiefdoms to the east are beginning to embrace Christianity, the Kingdom is still wholeheartedly practicing Old Norse worship. This is putting a lot of pressure on the Kingdom due to the rise in commerce following the defeat in war.

In 1311 Kingdom has transformed into the Baltic Kingdom, with Estonia as a little duchy within. Baltia has ceased to exist very soon, as Holy Orders, Novgorod and Swedish kingdoms have begun to influence these regions. As in 1650, Duchy of Estonia is a vassal state of the Gotlandic Duke, Malcom, that married the very last of Estonian heirs, Anne Revaleena.. He has become the rightful king under Baltic control.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: Estonia is, during this times, a vassal and friend of the Baltic Kingdom. It doesn't form diplomatic relations with another countries.

People aren't happy, cause rich merchants have very big control over them, many of people succumb of startvation, cause the food is sold abroad and only a little money is given to the farmers, fishermen and so on. But this hard-working population won't give up.
Land Claims: The north of current day Estonia, without Estonian islands. Estonia borders also its later parts, Livonia and Latgale.

Nation Name: The Andrunachel League
Description of Formation: Rouge scholars from the University of Hrimfelger as well as religious pilrgims from Nordfassen eventually settled along the northern Bothnia Gulf coast around 1100 AD and began taking control of commerce with the southern Nordic civilizations. Andrunachel, a more inland city founded its University in 1270 AD, and became a prominent city. When the Kingdom of Nordfassen took repeated attempts to invade and re-invade the port cities, they banded together to form a loose coalition of city states known as the Andrunachel League.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: By 1650, the League has managed to survive several wars on behalf of the Nordfassen Kingdom to the north of them, however 50 years ago the Bastionian Treaty was signed and the Nordfassen borders were reduced in exchange for free trade and commerce from the port cities to Nordfassen merchants. Tensions are still uneasy, however the League enjoys a very good new friendship with The Baltic Kingdom, whom came to their aide in the most recent war.
Internal Affairs at the time: Each of the city-states has it's own set of rules and governance, some are ruled by Barons and Princes, while some have democratic councils. They are predominantly Christian, and view themselves as more modern and worldly than their Nordfassen counterparts. The League itself is a loose confederacy and their economic strength is the only thing that binds them together.
Land Claims: The northern tip of the Gulf of Bothnia coastline, reaching as far north as the border with the Kingdom of Nordfassen.

Nation Name: The Andrunachel League
Description of Formation: Rouge scholars from the University of Hrimfelger as well as religious pilrgims from Nordfassen eventually settled along the northern Bothnia Gulf coast around 1100 AD and began taking control of commerce with the southern Nordic civilizations. Andrunachel, a more inland city founded its University in 1270 AD, and became a prominent city. When the Kingdom of Nordfassen took repeated attempts to invade and re-invade the port cities, they banded together to form a loose coalition of city states known as the Andrunachel League.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: By 1650, the League has managed to survive several wars on behalf of the Nordfassen Kingdom to the north of them, however 50 years ago the Bastionian Treaty was signed and the Nordfassen borders were reduced in exchange for free trade and commerce from the port cities to Nordfassen merchants. Tensions are still uneasy, however the League enjoys a very good new friendship with The Baltic Kingdom, whom came to their aide in the most recent war.
Internal Affairs at the time: Each of the city-states has it's own set of rules and governance, some are ruled by Barons and Princes, while some have democratic councils. They are predominantly Christian, and view themselves as more modern and worldly than their Nordfassen counterparts. The League itself is a loose confederacy and their economic strength is the only thing that binds them together.
Land Claims: The northern tip of the Gulf of Bothnia coastline, reaching as far north as the border with the Kingdom of Nordfassen.

Nation Name: Livonian Order
Description of Formation: Territories of Livonia were inhabited first by the Ugro-Finnic people, then by the Balts, that were often raided by the vikings during 6th, 7th and 8th centuries. It wasn't a serious part of their kings, but Livonia was ruled by tribal chiefs and in some parts by Norse raiders. In 11th century Livonia was strongly influenced and later incorporated by Tribal Kingdom of Lettigalians. In 1311 Lettigalian king has become Christian, transforming country into the Baltia. He invited a large number of knights and priests from the West. They've been settled in Livonia and when the kingdom has fallen in 1362, Livonian archbishop has been named the head of Livonian Order, that has been defending the faith of Jesus in these lands. The Order still exist in 1650, having a big power in the Baltic region.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: The Livonian Order trades with The Baltic Kingdom and it has a very negatative attitude towards Latgale and Estonia, as they are pagan and Orthodox.
Internal Affairs at the time: The archbishop rules in Livonia and priesthood along with knighthood play a very big role in the country. Livonia tries to spread a Catholic faith further and further and keeps trying to educate people. Mane people are persecuted, as they don't want to converse. Livonia's economy focuses on grain farming, woodcutting and bookwriting.
Land Claims: Northern and western parts of Latvia, along with Courland. Also Klaipeda city with some villages around.

Nation Name: The Duchy of Latgale
Description of Formation: Latgale, or Lettigalia, was inhabited by the Baltic tribes, that successfully created the very first kingdom in this area - the Tribal Kingdom of Lettigalia. It has a decent power and it has been fighting with the vikings or the Russians. In 9th century it invaded Pskov and Zemaitija. In 11th century it has incorporated Estonia and Livonia. 1311 was a very significant year in country's history - in this year king Haldava changed his faith into Catholic and changed the name of the country to Baltia. But it didn't save the kingdom - religious, lingual and ethnic differences have led to the fall of the kingdom in 1362. The area of Latgale was occupied since then by Russian forces. In 1519 it has revolted and, as in 1650, it's a very small and isolated country.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: The duchy of Latgale is very isolated - but the dukes want to rebuilt the power of Lettigalia.
Internal Affairs at the time: The Orthodox duke rules in country. The people there live in anger and fear - under the Tyrant Molduvas. Most of inhabitants focuses on farming - but winter comes here very fast and it doesn't leave for a long. The duke eats a lot, while his servants are starving.
Land Claims: A little area in the east of Latvia, with some villages in the side of Russia nearby.

The city of Jonkoping developed a powerful army and forced the others to submit in 1408. Together they formed an economic power in the center of the region. By 1650 they are at their peak in both economic and military power.
Diplomatic Relations at the time: Pelagar has good relations with Copenhagen Metropolis and the Kingdom of Nordfassen, is neutral with Askerike, and dislikes the Baltic Kingdom.
Internal Affairs at the time: While Pelagar is a Kingdom and has a king, outside of the nobility it operates much like a republic. It is one of the more capitalist countries in the region.
Land Claims: Pelagar is an amalgamation of the city-states of Jonkoping, Malmkoping, Askoping, Linkoping, Norrkoping, Nykoping, Lidkoping, Enkoping, Koping, Falkoping, and Soderkoping and the areas surrounding those cities.
