As long as there are Chrinthani remaining, as long as there are those who remember what we were and how we got there, as long as people believe in the empire and all she stood for, the Chrinthani race shall remain. The true extent of the carnage is unfathomable. The loss of life is staggering. Yet, the Chrinthani did not go off quietly into the night to die. They stood tall, they stood proud. The fought bravely for their friends, their families, and their empire. As we see the plague which has befallen our nation begin to recede, and as we take stock of what we lost and what we have remaining, we look forward to a new day; a new beginning. Let us take this immense tragedy and build for ourselves a new empire and a new world. We who remain will rebuild.

No casualties during the entire event, saved three regions single-handedly.

I don't know if there was more to this but I noticed that a few nations including myself couldn't zero out with the cure while others in the region who hadn't logged in all day or had taken no action were able to. This kind of irked me because I was one of the first responders and first to develop a cure and it baffles me how nations that had no localized response magically dealt with the whole problem while during the last 3 updates my zombies didn't decrease at all.

Posted this on TEP's RMB. Since Max asked if we should do it again, I felt it relevant to post it here too, since there's a suggestion or two embedded in it!

Hello everyone,

So here we are. Another April Fool’s, come and gone. The zombie infection is gone, and the nation populations have been restored. I felt the need to say something this year due to my telegramming various nations about our plan. I want to say I still stand by our plan. I am proud of this region and of every individual nation here. We tried our very best to overcome what would later be found to be an impossible goal, and we gave it our all. That’s nothing to be ashamed of. We did the best we could, and I believe we did the best out of any large region in the game by effort alone.

I don’t believe we could’ve overcome the zombie infection even if everything fell into place. The bottom line here is that we’re just too big of a region for this type of scenario. There are too many nations that are inactive, and when this little April Fool’s game is based on population and percentages researching for a cure, it plays against a very large region where inactive nations are common. This year, we were presented with three options. Option 1 really only accelerated the death rate for regions (unless you were able to overcome the rate of infection with rate of zombie kills). Option 3 merely increased the zombie total for the particular region one was in. Only Option 2 was the clear choice here, I felt. I’ve been that finding the cure was is based on hard percentages. That may have been the case, and if it was, the odds were definitely stacked against us. Let’s hypothetically say that in order to find a cure 40% of nations had to be researching for it. That’s fairly easy for a small region of say 100, but very difficult for a region of 5,000. It’s very difficult to get thousands of nations to work together on anything, but we did do it last year, as a huge multi-regional front.

This is my main critique with this year’s April Fool’s prank. Not that it’s really my position to complain, of course, but when I compare this to last year, it seemed, well, a little less fun. Why? Well, last year practically begged us all to work together to “win” the little game created by the mods (The NS Shareholder Game). And we did. And it was awesome. For this year, unless many nations were aware of what to do in the early-goings of the infection (and I mean many), we were goners. So this year had a major component missing, and that was the tremendous amount of necessary co-operation I so fondly remember from last year. But that’s just me. It would have been really neat, in my opinion, to make the user-created regions easier to save, then to see a lot of effort go into a greater challenge: saving a feeder, or multiple feeders. Here, we had a few user-created regions save themselves, and then work slowly to save some smaller regions. (Though some folks did band together in other regions to make a neat competition out of it).

This is, however, with the hindsight of other April Fool’s jokes, like the conservative v. liberal NationSates, hacked Nationstates, NationStates Handheld App, ‘we’re all mods’ Nationstates, NationDates, etc. All in all, not bad at all. And like I said, I’m not the type that would denounce a feature that the mods and admins absolutely did not have to implement. This was still fun and unique. And heck, I and others still had loads of fun. Good show.

Oh, and no one was ejected and/or banned from the region. No one who poses no threat the well-being of The East Pacific shall be banned so long as I’m a delegate here, even if it means we’ll have to deal with their lack of zombie control ^_____^
