Yeah its good, but could it be an antiquity instead, that was used by Witches, real and fake, and eventually gained the power and potential it now has, but it was a gradual process.

I was tal;king more of baning the insanity not the artifact in its entirety, and it would only be until the artifact is changed, i didnt mean it to sound how it sounded.

I can edit it for you, it's just that insanity is theeasiest trade-off to use for such a powerful object. You'll have to remind me too later, though. I can't do it right now.

Hmm well, I'm noting a lack of ancient Celtic artifacts. I'll whip one up for the fun, and mention my ruling family while I'm at it, later.

It is the easiest, but you could also use Life Force, or the like, and that would also make it harder to detect the Artifact in the short run as normal magic does tire the user.

If that cauldron is an artefact of antiquity, it could be Celtic. If it was in Salem, it could be originally from Britain. Cauldrons are pretty important in British Celtic mythology, so that's something to work with.
In turn, those Celtic myths almost certainly influenced the Arthurian legends, and the Holy Grail.

WB Artifact App
Artifact Name: Gáe Bulg
Type: Antiquity
Mass produced?: No
Effect: One blow, a weapon built to be fatal with a single deft blow, and leaves permanent wounds.
Artifact history: Built millennia ago, the exact place and materials are lost to time. During the battle of The Lake, fought at lake Victoria, both it's wielder, Brian Johgs High King, and the blade were destroyed. Thus, to this day the terrifying blade lies in three pieces. Among the magical community at least one piece is known to be held by the mysterious and shadowy Johgs family (whom claim lineage directly from Lugh himself) while another is rumored to be held by them. The third and final piece is lost to the world, only known as a fragment of the blade which has had a short hilt attached to form a deadly blade. It's effect is less than that of it's true one though remains potent. The Johgs are known to be willing to pay massive sums of money in exchange for valid information or the pieces themselves.
Country/Mythology of origin: Ireland
Enhance-able: It is rumored that the hilt attached to the missing piece is enchanted with spells of stealth. If a competent stealth magic user were to find it they could likely increase their skills moderately; ironic given that the blade cries out for blood.
Clues:The weapon is known to be able to have it's cries subdued by being submerged in fresh crushed poppies. Though the modern era means that it could likely be anywhere.

WB Artifact App:
Artifact Name:Sguaba Tuinne
Appearance:
Type: Magic Tool
Mass produced?: Yes
Effect: An expensive, and well crafted, series of water craft built by a group of well paid magical craftsmen employed by the, eternally, mysterious Johgs family. While many boats are custom made now the name "Sguaba Tuinne" is a generic term used for a self sailing magical boat. It has, thanks to it's magic, a built in navigaitional system which allows it to self plot a course. However, other features such as shrinking down to pocket size, wood type and styles, among other decorative features, are sold as premium addons. If you thought buying a car was difficult, then you haven't bought a Sguaba Tuinne.
Country/Mythology of origin: Originally Ireland, now produced in Southern Africa

I am saying no to the Gae Bolg/bulg, simply because i already have plans for it, yes to the other, once you get a family app up, unless you have already and i missed it.

Ok guys, (and gals, or whatever gender you may identify as) Later this week i am planning on putting the OOC up, but that doesnt mean you still can't post any ideas or families here. By the Way Families will be playable by the rpers unless otherwise specified, such as the Derleths, though Grestin may let you play as a servant to the Eldritch Horrors that identify as humans Family.

Not completely sure what you mean, but I'll let other people play members of the Messer family if they want.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but we're allowed to use our normal NS nations for our chars and such? I doubt this would ever make it to my main canon, but it's an interesting story arc about them i'd be interested in exploring. Also heavy WiP still.

Major Magical Family App:
Family Name: Johgs
Country of Origin: The Pillowlandian Commonwealth
Family Head:(Name and any other needed info)Aaron Athrawes Johgs, the direct and only son of the families leading branch. As such, following his fathers 'assassination' he has risen to power to continue the family legacy.
Notable Members:Duke Andrew Oliver Johgs, Emperor Johnathon Athrawes Johgs II, Johnathon Athrawes Johgs (not actually dead), Leah Elizabeth Johgs
Family Bloodline:Legacy Bloodline
Family Magic:
  • Slower aging
  • Mind influence
  • Perception influence
  • emotional influence
I say influence because outright control is simply OP, plus (in my opinion at least) it is better for one to legitimately convince one to their side then simply brute forcing them like most mind control is described.
Family History:

The sketchy, hidden history of the Johgs family dates back to 1252. At least, that's as far as even the current members can trace it. Little is known of the first recorded Johgs, only that the name was an extensively corrupted take on the Irish sun deity named "Lugh". Following what is assumed to be a migration from Europe to Africa,
Notable Magics:(Magic abilities not commonly seen in the Bloodline of the Family.)

So The only things needed before i can finish the OOc are the Council Mandates, finish up my Families, and that is pretty much it, though other additions will still be welcomed.

Will the mandates be something like chairman, secretary, etc but with fancier titles, or were you thinking something else?

Pillowlandia: I'm not the OP but I think only real nations are allowed when it comes to origin.

The Mandates would be the laws that all magical beings and magic humans would have to follow.

Yes Pillow only Real nations, and you must list what being your Family holds the Bloodline off.

Two other families

Postby Shadowwell » Fri Aug 19, 2016 3:29 pm

Major Magical Family App:
Family Name: Stone
Family Logo/Sigil:TBD
Country of Origin: New York City, New York, USA
Family Head:Craig Stone, in his mid 40’s a tall man whose figure fits his name and he looks like he was carved from a cliffside.
Notable Members: None, exactly, though most of the notable members serve as part of the Councils Guard.
Family Bloodline: Earth Dragon, Elemental and Legacy
Family Magic: Earth and metal manipulation, enhanced durability and earth empowerment.
Family History:Originally the family was from Scotland, but moved to America in the late 1900’s. They are by far the largest and most powerful of the Families. They are also the most influential in the way of Government and Political connections.
Notable Magics: Immunity to damge from metal or things found in the earth. Once there was a member that was able to take on the form of a lesser dragon, but that was long ago.

Major Magical Family App:
Family Name: Angelo
Family Logo/Sigil:TBD
Country of Origin: somewhere in Italy
Family Head:unknown
Notable Members: None
Family Bloodline: Legacy bloodline,
Family Magic: not much is known about the powers.
Family History: They reside in Italy, and have heavy ties with the Italian Mafia. This gives them a great information network, as well as authority in certain circles. Not much is known about the family or its member as they are rarely seen outside italy.
Notable Magics: Unknown

As much as possible to the point that some Councilors have thought of decreeing that any ordinary human survivor must be killed to maintain the Secret.

I have an idea: seeing as how the Stone family is the largest/most influential family and the Grey family is fairly large and (so far) the oldest family- the two of them could be rivals. There is also a massive story event which I'm planning involving the Grey family, that could easily include the Stones too.

Idea for an artefact, a unicorn horn given to Marco Polo by Kublai Khan. http://www.clauderaymonddesign.com/wp-c ... Horn-C.jpg

Powers: Not sure yet.

(As for mandates, no ideas yet. Sorry.)

KB i say no to the horn being an artifact unless it was made into something as magical materials from monsters while having their own uses are just that materials.

Mandates

1. No magic in public unless as a last resort, or if it can be passed off as an illusion or sleight of hand.
2. If your true form is not closely human, you must never reveal your true form in public, some exceptions are allowed though the context is determined by the Council.
3. You may only tell one Human what you are, with conditions:
3.a if and only if you were onc human.
3.b Or if you are mated to a human and the told is a relative of your mate.
3.c if the human reveals the Secret, You the human and any Told, will be executed.

So this is what i have so far, i used something given to me by Harbertia as a guide.

Why don't you just outright ban telling normal humans the magical abilities. Unless, for instance, the two people have mated or something.
