Cielos Luz
For every day, there is a night. For every dawn, there is a dusk. For every Celestial, there are countless demons.....

Map

Many thousands of years ago, while Lutra was young, a peculiar species came into being. Humans. Humans where always weak, as such when the demons came, they could not stop them. One night, while man was young, from the darkest reaches of Lutra and beyond, the demons descended. They ravaged the land, killing many human populations. They went continent to continent in their hunt for human blood. It brought them enjoyment. Until they came upon Dorthithladh, the last stronghold of humanity. The humans of Dorthithladh had no idea what was coming, and stood no chance against the demons. Or so it seemed. One night, under the night sky, the stars granted their power to 88 select humans to combat the demons. These 88 fought the demons back, and saved Dorthithladh, going down in history as the first Celestials.

Now, after many thousands of years of peace from the demons, a dark cloud gathers, and the Celestials will be called again.

Aylmer Kingl, Grand Observer
Ailianthum, Discheheim Empire

Aylmer sat there, behind the ancient telescope which his family had looked through throughout the ages. He was an old man, older than most humans should have been. A total of one hundred and two years. He was near the end of his life, and he knew it. He had discovered the location of many Celestials, and put to rest even more. Looking out, he could see the stars twinkle in the way they always do, without a care in the world. They would always be there, and as long as they twinkled, humanity would live on.

"Ah... my old friends...." He spoke softly as he coughed, "Looks like my time is coming, isn't it. Umm.... I lived a good life I guess... a few great great grandchildren is good right?" He smiled as he took a look in the telescope, "Everything looks normal.... wait... what's that?"

He focused the telescope on a black comet, "Oh no...." he said in horror.

Sigfi King-Slayer, High King of Hundiskali
Hundiskali Royal Palace, Kingdom of Hundiskali

The High King sat upon his throne, a bottle of ale in his hand looking to the man in front of him. He took a drink of the ale and then threw it to the ground. Slaves imidietly went to clean it, as his eyes filled in anger as he looked at the man.

"What do you mean she's not dead?" He asked as he slammed his fist to the throne.

"I mean, she's proving hard to eliminate. Who would have known someone like her came from the previous king..." the man said as he lowered his head.

Sigfi rose from the throne and walked over to the man, grabbing his face and forcing the man to look at him in the eyes. "There must be more... tell me." he said as he let go and walked to the window.

"Um yes sir..." the man said, "It turns out that she's a Celestial...."

"WHAT!" Sigfi shouted as he turned around, "Did I just hear you right?"

"Yes sir. But that's not all.... we lost her trail...." The man said as he looked away.

Sigfi didn't say anything as he approached the man. He stopped in front of the man, "So, you are telling me that you lost her?"

"Y...y....yes."

It happened in a flash. Sigfi drew a sword and sliced the man's throat. The man's body fell to the ground as everyone in the throne room looked away. Sigfi looked to the guards, "Dispose of this body... Oh, and don't we have a Celestial of our own?"

"Yes sir. We do, her name is Loret Willanada." a guard responded as two of his fellow guards picked up the body and left the room.

Sigfi returned to the throne, "Fetch me this Loret."

The guard nodded and left.

Agnimukha Vasuman, The Phoenix
In the mountains north of Yarrin, Jiddahari Caliphate

"So..... Yarrin should be that way... right?" Agnimukha said as he looked at an old map he secured from his old man, "Or maybe its that way? Stupid map you are useless"

He sighed as he rolled up the map and put it back in his bag. He left his adopted father about three weeks ago and started travelling, looking to solve his past. His journey had brought him to the Jiddahari Caliphate, which if he remember correctly was his mothers homeland. He hoped to find someone who knew about his mother, possibly her family. Then maybe convince them to help him. But he wasn't going to get anywhere by just standing there.

"Why did I take that map.... I should have known it was on of my old mans cheap get rich items." He looked around, "But this is a problem.... I have been stuck in these mountains for four days now.... I'm running low on...." He shuttered, "Water." He took a breath and continued on. After ten minutes he saw something, something he saw just ten minutes ago.

"WHY DO ALL THESE MOUNTAINS LOOK THE SAME?!?!?!" He shouted as flames erupted around him for a moment.

Aoife Dragon-Heart, Draco
Approaching Wintobbruck, Discheheim Empire

Aoife took a sigh of relief. She had been running for the past three years, and just a week ago she attempted to return to the Kingdom of Hundiskali. Bad idea, finally, after five days of running away, she managed to lose them. Now she was on a forest road heading somewhere, she didn't care to try and guess where. Eventually she exited the forest and looked across the plains towards a city.

"Ah.... Wintobbruck. So I am in the Discheheim Empire. Great." She said sarcastically, "I wonder how many drunks I'll see, or how many people try to make me theirs.... just great."

She continued down the road, but didn't see a part of it was slightly risen. When she approached the hazard, well, her foot hit it, and she face planted the road.

"Because you do not have the view of a bird," Armita replied as she glided down next to the strange man.

She had spotted him while on one of her daily scouting expeditions and had been following him for a few hours now, watching as he walked around in circles. She thought he was just a lost traveler, which was a frequent sight for such a remote corner of the caliphate, but when she saw flames erupt she knew he was different.

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself, my bad," she hastily said as she reverted back to her human form, hastily covering her head with a piece of thin cloth, "my name is Armita, a Celestial in service to Haadi al-Taa, the Grand Sultan chosen by Vahasni. What is your name traveler?"

One thing about Loret is that she gets bored rather easily, and when she gets bored she feels like fighting something. Well, that was exactly what she was doing right now. She had challenged a soldier of the army to a duel, and he had accepted as soon as she promised to not use her celestial powers. She only used those for raiding, and even then only when the situation needed it. Currently the fight was going well. It was her two axes against this one man's sword. She was able block and dodge most of the man's attacks and counter them with her own, but he would do the same and block her attacks. Yes, Loret found that annoying and stubborn, but she was just happy that he had accepted the duel. When she was first in the army, people didn't think she'd amount to much, and challenging someone to a duel would make them laugh and walk away, but now that she proved her worth, people knew she was a worthy challenge.

Most people around the training area could hear as the blades collided against each other in quick succession. This man was good, which was the only reason why Loret had challenged him, and, due to her challenging most of the skilled people in the army, he had only guessed it would be a matter of time before he was challenged as well, and he was ready. With every swing she made at him with her axes, he'd block with his blade, but with every swing he'd make at her, she would move out of the way. It was difficult to find an opening in her defenses.

Suddenly, to end the fight, Loret charged forward and hit his sword hard enough for his to loose his grip on it. Afterwards she tackled him and he fell to the ground. She smiled triumphantly and then offered a hand to help him up. "Good job, Alpert," she said. "You put up a good fight."

The man shook his head as he took Loret's hand to help himself up. "You could have done that the whole time, couldn't you?" He asked, and she only responded with a sly grin. "Never mind. You were also a good challenge, but now I must go." He said before walking away from Loret and out of the training area.

Loret smiled and then out the axes to the straps on her waist, where they would stay until she needed to pull them out again. "Well, that was fun," she said before looking around. "Now what?"

Two months have passed since my last entry... since just before the birth. I can see the shape of his face in hers, and there is a hint of his eyes as well. It makes my heart ache.

But no matter who her father is, she is my child. She is precious to me, a ray of light into this dark place. So smart she is... she quiets with a touch and mimics my every expression. I have named her for my fiance, the man I wish I could pretend was her father. Her name is Ely.

I have come to bitter terms with my fate. Ely has fallen ill, and she is likely to die any day... probably tomorrow.

And so it comes to this day... this cursed day. Tomorrow, I will gaze upon Ely one last time. And then Death will bear her away...

My only love will be taken from me. My last strand of hope leaves with her.

Calliope reread the entry, and then continued on to reading the next entry, tears spilling from her eyes and staining the pages as she remembered her precious child.

Wretched. I am a misbegotten creature from a misbegotten race. All these useless words about honor and nobility! Where are they when I need them? And still he stands as a haughty insult to Elam's memory. And my daughter? Our daughter? She is gone.

And I am left to languish... to fester.

Curse him! If I could, I would reach across this world and destroy him!

Maybe one day, I will.

Before all has ended, I will make him remember me.

Calliope will haunt his steps until the end of his life.

She was sobbing now.

Elam... Ely... Everyone I loved...

Gone...

And yet he is allowed to live...

Tarius stayed hidden behind a tree, watching the animal creep past. Finally, she stretched her bow eagerly and silently, loosing an arrow towards the majestic creature.

As usual, its flight was swift and true, burying itself in the stag's heart as the creature collapsed.

She smiled and approached it, drawing a knife from her belt. She would feed well tonight.

But she heard something odd... a sound as though someone had fallen. Someone rich, perhaps. She sought out the woman who had fallen and approached, holding the knife to the back of her neck before she could rise.

"Your money," she said in a silky voice, "or your life."

Grizhnakh had been tracking his prey for almost a day, and this was his chance. The woods near the Northwestern border of Caisopia were rich, and the tusks of their great boars fetched a high price. As the boar entered a clearing, the hunter walked in from the other side. He let out a yell and drew his spear. He took a deep breath and steadied himself looking the boar in the eyes. The beast charged.

Agnimukha Vasuman, The Phoenix
In the mountains north of Yarrin, Jiddahari Caliphate

When Agnimukha heard the femenine voice, he couldn't help but look around for the source. Once she landed beside him, he knew what she was before she spoke. Another Celestial.... One who can fly apparently... NICE! he thought to himself. He paid attention as the other Celestial introduced herself.

"Oh. Don't worry about it." Agnimukha said as he rubbed the back of his head and smiled, "We all forget things from time to time." He smiled as he brought the hand that was behind him down in front of him, "My name is Agnimukha Vasuman. Celestial in the service of only one person, myself. To be precise though, I am the Phoenix. Now, let me guess, your next question is going to be why I am here, correct?"

He paused for a moment, "Well, the answer to that is personal, and I care not to share. But, can I ask you something?"

Random Royal Hundiskali Guard
Hundiskali, Kingdom of Hundiskali

Just then, a Royal Hundiskali Guard walked into the training area and looked straight at Loret. He approached slowly, and slightly menancingly. Stopping just a few feet from her, he smirked.

"Loret Willanada. Correct?" He asked as he stared at her, "You have been summoned by his highness Sigfi King-Slayer. I would suggest you come quickly as he isn't in the best mood today. And you don't want to keep him waiting."

Aoife Dragon-Heart, Draco
Near Wintobbruck, Discheheim Empire

Oh perfect... a bandit... appears as if the Discheheim really need to get to work instead of drinking and doing the things... she thought to herself, How can I escape....

"May I ask you a question? Does it look like I have any money you can take?" She started calmly, "And as for my life, you can't take something that was already taken. So, look at your situation here, you have no reason to try and rob me. No money, nor a life you can have. I guess if you must take something though, these two swords. Though I doubt you'd get anything worth your time from them. So, can you be so kind as to let me up?"

Burgera Blarmond, Empress of Discheheim
Discheheim, Discheheim Empire

"Is this all you where able to obtain?" the Empress asked a cloaked figure as she read over some papers.

"Yes your Highness. The Trostian scientific community is very protective of their work, not to mention the Trostian government. That is all that I could obtain without raising any suspicions." The cloaked figure said.

"We still don't know who to make that 'gunpowder' those Trostians have... that's what we need." She said as she rose from her throne, "With out that, these are useless..."

"Your Highness. Think of it this way, when we do obtain the Trostian secrets, we will be ready to make their weapons and then the Crosivalonians will no longer be a threat to us." The man said.

The Empress nodded, "That is true." She smiled, "You have done well Damien Blackwood."

Damien lowered his hood and smirked, "Proud to be of assistance your Highness."

"You're not rich? Pity. I could have used a few more coins, I need new boots," Tarius said nonchalantly, sheathing the knife. "Is there a reason you're around these parts? You're not a local, I can tell. Locals don't usually come hang around in my territory."

She grinned roguishly.

"I've got a bit of a name, you see."

Tarius Longfletch. Well, that is definitely a name...

In the mountains north of Yarrin, Jiddahari Caliphate

Agnimukha didn't smile with Armita's question, instead he looked downward and took a deep breath, "I don't like talking about my past. All you need to know is that I am from all around. My old man is a travelling merchant, so I have been all around."

He then smiled, "Anyways. Can you help me get out of this mountain range and get to Yarrin? There are somethings I want to check out."

She motioned to herself, "As for why I am around these parts, long story short, I was running away from some folk. What is your name perchance? And why are you a bandit?"

Just the menacing approach from the man was enough to make Loret put a hand on her axe, but she stopped once he had said she had been summoned. "King-Slayer wants me?" She asked, slowly moving her hand away from axe handle. "I'd ask what for, but like you said, I'd rather not keep him waiting. Besides, it must be of some importance. If it involves him. Good bye." She said before walking away from the training area, not bothering to wave goodbye to the man.

A few minutes later she appeared in the throne room of King-Slayer and walked over to his throne. She stopped at a respectful distance and then bowed. "My king, you have summoned me?" She asked, sounding polite as to not make the king mad. She didn't go back to her normal stance, and would probably only do so once King-Slayer told her it was alright to go back to standing normally.

Aylmer Kingl, Grand Observer
Ailianthum, Discheheim Empire

"I must warn them...." the old man said as he stood up and gathered other observers. Once they where all gathered, he begun.

"I have seen it. A black Comet. An omen. They are coming. We need to warn the Celestials.... the Demons are coming..." He said as the other observers went into action. Many left the observatory, heading for the capitals of each nation, and to the cities of each city to gather the Celestials.

A few minutes after most of the observers left, leaving a small handful of observers at Ailianthum, the Grand Observer returned to the telescope. He stopped when he noticed someone in his seat. A male figure.

"Whose there?" He demanded.

"Grand Observer Aylmer is it?" The man said as he stood up and faced the Grand Observer, "I assume you have seen the comet... and you have likely sent those under you to find them."

"Who are you?" Aylmer demanded with a fire in his eyes.

"Ah, anger.... It doesn't look good on you.... But perhaps I should tell you who you have the honor of speaking to..." The man bowed slightly, "I am one of the Seven Generals of Demia... Kaerav the Proud. And now, you will fall...." He raised his hand and three dark spears shot into the Grand Observers chest.

The Grand Observer fell to the ground, his blood pooling around him as Kaerav smirked and then disappeared.

Agnimukha Vasuman, The Phoenix
In the mountains north of Yarrin, Jiddahari Caliphate

"Damn. What I wouldn't give to fly...." He said to himself with a smile as he watched Armita circle above him. When she flew off in the direction of Yarrin, he smirked. How does she know that I can keep up? Wait... Can I keep up? he thought to himself as he began running.

He noticed she was getting further away. So, he lowered his hands and faced them behind him, opened palm, and then with a deep breath fire erupted from his hands and gave him a boost in speed, allowing him to keep up to the flying girl. After an hour or so, he could see the village of Yarrin. He smirked as he put more power into his fire, and pulled in front of Armita. I'll be there first..... he thought as he closed his eyes, opening them, he was to late. He ran straight into a large rock near Yarrin.

Sigfi King-Slayer, High King of Hundiskali
Hundiskali Royal Palace, Kingdom of Hundiskali

"Ah yes. You may stand at ease." He said as he looked at Loret, and examined her, "So, you are a Celestial.... good. I need you for a certain job. Did you know that the former king had a daughter?" He started, "Well, he did. She got away the day of the coup and for the past three years she had disappeared. But as of a couple days ago, she was seen. Those tracking her failed and lost her. I need you to pick up their slack. Find this fallen princess, and bring her to me. Her name by the way is Aoife Dragon-Heart. Do you think you can handle that?"

Armita was amazed at how the boy was using his powers to catch up with her, to compensate for the speed she was gliding at. She had a sincere look of amusement on her face as she watched him for around an hour, but once he passed her it turned into a look of horror as he smashed into a rock. He was ahead of her so it was easy to turn in the direction of the rock and land on the face, her hands clinging to the rocky face.

"Are you alright," she said to him as she looked, worry was written on her face as she bit her lip, "can you say something?"

Loret stood up straight and then listened to the king explain what she wanted her to do. After the king was finished, the woman nodded. "I will try to do so to the best of my abilities, which probably I'll get her." She said, a confident grin flashed upon her face before quickly disappearing. "Is it possible for you to tell me where and when she was last seen?" That would be useful information to know, though if she was spotted a few days ago, she could be anywhere by now, which would make things more challenging, but this should be a fun challenge, nonetheless.

"Your powers of observation are keen." Aoife said as she stood up and looked at the bandit, "I was rich at one point in life. But that is the past, now.... this is all I have." She motioned to herself, "As for why I am around these parts, long story short, I was running away from some folk. What is your name perchance? And why are you a bandit?"

"Tarius Longfletch," she said calmly. "As for your other question, I needed money, picking pockets didn't pan out, and prison was no fun at all--" she winced in recall--"so I relocated."

Ah, there's that tendency to understate again.

She winked. "And now I'm here."

Agnimukha Vasuman, The Phoenix
Near Yarrin, Jiddahari Caliphate

Agnimukha laid there for a moment, try to process what just happened. I was going fast.... and ran into a rock... Armita saw.... he thought as he shot up, his cheeks slightly red, Oh shit!

He looked at Armita, his face was a little busted up, and a few teeth where on the ground. He could feel that his sense of balance was off as he tried to stand up. "Well, if your dead and I'm dead..." He said rather roughly and looked around, "This looks like a pretty shitty after life, so.... I think its safe to assume I'm alright. Not dead at least." Agnimukha smirked, "Anyways I'll be fine if we can find some fire...."

Sigfi King-Slayer, High King of Hundiskali
Hundiskali Royal Palace, Kingdom of Hundiskali

"She was last seen heading south. Presumably into the Discheheim Empire." Sigfi said, "And if my geography isn't wrong, the most likely place she'll be heading to would be Wintobbruck. That might be the best place to start looking. But be careful. We can not let the Discheheim Empire know about this though. Understand?"

Aoife Dragon-Heart, Draco
Near Wintobbruck, Discheheim Empire

"Tarius Longfletch...." Aoife said, "Nice name. I guess I should introduce myself...." She paused and took a breath, Should I give her my real name? Or should I give her an alias.... "Aoife Dragon-Heart." Aoife said as she bowed slightly, "The fallen princess of Hundiskali, and a Celestial."

"You're a princess?!" Tarius said in shock, her eyes going wide. The one thing she had respect for was royalty, and she dropped to one knee, bowing her head.

"My lady, I apologize. If I had known, I'd have never tried to rob you... Forgive me."

This is............... embarrassing.

Loret nods, putting that to memory. She'd have to get a map before she left the kingdom entirely, so she could know where she was going. Oh, also, she needed to do this in secret. Oh, well, that just added onto the fun and the challenge, now didn't it? "I understand, sir. You can count on me." She said. "Now, unless you have anything else to say, I will be off." She said before turning around and beginning to walk towards the exit, though she was slow enough so that if Sigfi wanted to say anything, he could stop her.

Altair Menteur
Wintobbruck, Discheheim Empire

The marketplace was filled with people, buying foodstuffs, clothes, vanity items, weapons and the like. Altair set up his store, his wares as glamorous and brilliant as the sun. He was disguised as a merchant that he met on the road and his wares are just stones and sticks that are affected by his illusionary power. Some people bought them, unwary of what is happening. He smiled as he catered his customers. He was near sold out when 3 guards approched him. The customers dispersed and the guards checked his goods before speaking. "You are arrested for forfeited items and forgery. Come and this will be more easier for us." Altair made a slasher smile before dodging out of the way, an illusionary tiger pouncing from his back. The guards wrestled with the tiger and Altair ran away. The illusions disappeared and the guards went to chase him, still confused at what happened. They came to a long alleyway, a beggar sitting at the side. "Old man, have you seen a merchant ran past by?" The beggar lifted his head, his eyes clearly blind. "I heard frantic footsteps before you came. It went straight ahead." The guards looked at each other and ran to catch Altair. Little did they know that the alleyway is a dead end. They are just running around in circles like confused turkeys. The beggar stood up and his rags vanished, revealing more exquisite robes. Altair pulled out the metal whip that was coiled around his wrist, smiling at his prey. "Let's see how loud can you scream."

Armita gasped as she saw his teeth on the ground, a shiver ran down her spine at the thought of how much it must have hurt and also missed his remark on her homeland.

"Can you walk? The nearest settlement isn't far from here," she said in a panicked tone, he certainly looked beat up and his request for fire was bizarre, "here, let me help you."

She placed his arm over her shoulder as she began to move forward, forcing him to move even though he seemed fairly okay, but the broken teeth gave her a scare.

Aoife Dragon-Heart, Draco
Near Wintobbruck, Discheheim Empire

Aoife stood there, with a straight face, maintaining her compossure, but internally, she was freaking out. I actually gave her my identity.... stupid! Stupid! she thought, But she is taking it fairly well... its been a long time since someone had bowed to me....

"Stop. You don't need to bow. I am not royalty anymore. I lost that rank in the coup three years ago..." She said, "And don't call me, 'my lady', please. Don't fret about it. You are just trying to find your place in this world..."

A certian Alley
Wintobbruck, Discheheim Empire

"Yes. Lets." A voice said from a roof above the alley, "Altair Menteur I would presume. Celestial, Vulpecula if I am not mistaken. Power is to create illusions. Very interesting... But not one of the Zodiac sadly..."

The guards where looking for the source of the voice, "How far the Celestials have fallen... picking on humanity when they are supposed to be their protector. How amusing."

A figure cloaked in shadows landed behind the guards, two hands grabbed two of the guards, while something that looked like a tail wrapped around the thirds neck. The guards struggled as they slowly turned into shadows and entered the shadowy figure.

"Perhaps I should show you my true form...." The figure said as the shadows formed into a strange being, a demon.

Agnimukha Vasuman, The Phoenix
Near Yarrin, Jiddahari Caliphate

"Thanks I guess...." Agnimukha said as Armita helped him up. He moved fairly fine, but lacked a sense of balance, "What if I told you this wasn't the first time I've ran into a rock?" He said with a smile, "Man, that was worse... I was in the northern mountains, just south of Buisseau. Have you ever been there? Nice open fields and vineyards... great wine too. Anyways, I was in the mountains, when some random bandits started to chase me. I have to admit, they where fast, well armed and out numbered me with ease... So I ran.... straight of a cliff, and into a big rock." He chuckled, "I got away though."

"Don't have one," she said offhandedly, climbing to her feet. "I learned that a while back, it wasn't fun at all. Although in fairness, I do enjoy a special gift of my own in accordance." She smiled.

"I'm not exactly 'normal' myself. You could call me special, or you could just say that... well, I'm a Celestial too."

She winked roguishly.

"Care to guess which one?"

Aoife stood there for a moment, her smile faded. Suddenly she was on the ground, head lowered in shame (This).

"I can't believe I was wrong..... Don't look at me....." She said quietly. When she heard Tarius tell her to try again, she shot straight back up. Closing her eyes she thought some more. Then dramatically she pointed to Tarius and said with great confidence, "Triangulum!"
