The Blood of My Brothers: First Bull Run (OOC/Sign Up)

Postby SaintB » Sun Dec 20, 2015 6:43 am

This RP is a reboot of one begun by Sarejo and he asked me to take it over when he discovered he did not have the time to act as an OP.

Image

Blood of Brothers
The year is 1861. War has broken out in the USA, with a group of southern states seceding from the Union. Thousands of young men rush to sign up, splitting families and old friends apart. Now two armies, both of the same lineage and history, march on each other. This will evolve into the bloodiest war in American history, where Brothers shed each other's blood. Welcome to the First Manassas, the first battle of the war.

All accepted applications from Sarejo's original RP are transferred over to this one as per his request so if you had applied in the original RP and want to join this new version just link back to your application filled out in the original.

There are a couple small changes to my version from the original.
1. I'd like a short biography of your individual character.
2. Characters are no longer in charge of a platoon, you've been promoted to Captain and command an entire company.
3. I'm restricting this RP to infantry only.
4. For simplicity's sake both sides will be using the same organizational structure. Each army is further split into Corpse, each Corpse consists of four Divisions of four Brigades of four Regiments. Each Regiment has ten companies designated A through K. Each company has a starting strength of 100 active soldiers.
5. I will most likely be sitting on the sidelines in this RP, I have an app with a character and company but its for demonstration purposes and I will only actively participate in the RP if I feel like its needed. I'll serve as a kind of post judge determining how well or poorly you lead your soldiers in battle based on your IC posts and assign casualties. I will also be the generals for both armies so I'm playing the part of Generals Irving McDowell and PGT Beauregard as well as all the lesser generals and colonels in the army that will give you orders.

Rules
1. Read all of the rules here and in the character app section before making an application.
2. No godmodding. Godmodding is here defined as taking actions on behalf of other players without their prior consent, taking massive world changing actions without clearance from myself, and assuming that your attempt to affect another player will automatically succeed.
3. Treat each other with respect in the OOC. If you are obnoxious or habitually rude to other players I reserve the right to cull you from this RP and its OOC.
4. Follow all the site rules. If you are violating the site rules in my IC or OOC I will call the wrath of mod down upon you as well as erase your existence in this RP.
5. Profanity, nudity, and violence, are all perfectly fine but make sure to keep things PG13. If you think Hollywood would give it an R rating then tone things down.
6. In my absence the word of my Co-OPs is law.
7. Fun is MANDATORY!

Nation Name: Alsheb
Allegiance: USA
Regimental Name/Number: 14th Regiment New York State Militia, "14th Brooklyn", "The Red Legged Devils"
Company Name/Number: B Company
Name of Officer: Captain Isaiah Uffendill
Biography of Officer: Isaiah Uffendill was born to a family of merchants in Brooklyn, New York, in the year 1827. He originally aided his father in the family business before enrolling in Brooklyn Gaslight School to pursue further studies. He achieved a degree in Law and founded his own attorney's office in the Brooklyn district by 1857. During his tenure as an attorney, he also built up a reputation for his abolitionist views and sympathies for the Republican Party, for which he campaigned heavily during the 1860 elections. This, together with his reputation as a pious Methodist, earned him the name of respected citizen in the district.
When war broke out, Uffendill enrolled in the 14th Brooklyn, a militia zouave regiment composed mostly of local Brooklyn tradesmen and vocal abolitionists. Originally, Uffendill was posted as First Lieutenant in the B Company of the regiment, but in the week leading up to the first major battle of the Civil War, he was promoted to the rank of Captain.

Nation Name: Greater Dixie

Allegiance: CSA

Regimental Name/Number: 34th Virginia Infantry, "Hook's Howlers", "The Bloody Thirty Fourth"

Company Name/Number: D - Arcadia Rifles, "Fairfax's Firebrands"

Name of Officer: Captain Theron "Devil Ron" Fairfax

Biography of Officer: Theron Fairfax is the second son of Ammon Fairfax, a notable planter and socialite with political aspirations. He grew up on the family plantation, amid slavery and other traditions older than the nation itself. His mother died in childbirth when he was nine years old, causing him to lose faith in God, though he continues to attend his Baptist church out of a sense of duty. When he was fifteen, he was shot through the shoulder accidentally while hunting. His younger brother Grayson, surprised by how well Theron endured the pain, is said to have exclaimed, "Hell's bells! You must be the Devil himself, Ron!" The name stuck. A distant relation of George Washington and numerous other famous men, Theron has never entertained any delusions about his role in society. He is highly educated, a graduate of West Point in fact, and well-mannered, the epitome of the southern gentleman. Prior to the incident at Fort Sumter, Theron began a passionate courtship with Susanna Bucock, the daughter of another planter family and the great niece of a congressman. When war broke out, Theron resigned his position with the Union Army and enlisted with the Confederates.

He was assigned as captain of a hastily assembled unit consisting of men from Spotsylvania. His men have already begun to acquire a reputation as rowdy, though their manners are far more refined than those of other companies under Colonel Emmett Silas Hook. Hook's Howlers, as some call the 34th Virginia Infantry, draws most of its strength from the mountains of western Virginia. Its men are Scots-Irish frontiersmen, hale and hearty folk known for their rugged spirits, love of moonshine, and blood-curdling battle cries. At the moment, Devil Ron, as the troops affectionately call him, is satisfied with his position, and often writes home to his father, his sweetheart, and his sister - one Miss Hazel Fairfax, describing the state and order of his command. He also bought a new horse recently, a large black gelding, and had a beautifully crafted saber made.

RP Examples: I don't have an example as of yet, but you can expect solid role-playing from me.

Your character is a captain of one of those companies not the commander of the regiment. Pick any company you want and make a captain for them Historical or Fictional.

Nation Name: The Forsworn Knights
Allegiance: USA [Union]
Regimental Name/Number: 1st Regiment North Carolina Volunteer Infantry
Company Name/Number: Company F Hertford county 'Hertford Grey's'
Name of Officer: Michael Smith
Biography of Officer: Michael was born the son of a railroad worker in Greensboro, North Carolina. His father mostly just maintained the tracks for the gate city, moving supplies in and out of the city.
As he grew older and the revolution brewed, he openly spoke out against rebelling, much to the annoyance of his neighbours.
Eventually, as the war went on he enlisted in the United States Military at the age of seventeen, along with many other Northern Carolinians.
Through befriending superior officers, displaying his intelligence, and proving to be a capable soldier, Michael eventually rose to the position of Captain. Dutifully following his superiors but very hesitant to attack civilians, harm North Carolinians, or use excessive brutality against the south.

Alright I wasn't certain. I'll make the appropriate changes to the application.

Fixed.

RP Examples: I don't have an example as of yet, but you can expect solid role-playing from me.
