BACKGROUND
In 1863, disputes among the different members of the Confederate States of America caused a division, resulting in an even larger civil war. Soon, the Union took back much of Virginia and North Carolina, but were pushed back by member states of the Coalition of Liberty. This defeat drew division in the North (i.e., "Lincoln is a terrible leader." "The military should take the government, and handle it right.," "No, we should have just a legislative and judicial branch.," etc.), which led to the dissolving of the United States of America. In 1871, the fighting was ceased by the Treaty of Richmond, which established the borders of each nation, and established a (ill-fated) 10-year grace period. From 1871-1876, the collection of small nations lived in harmony, until the fire nation attacked. Just kidding. In 1876, the Texas Republic attacked a trading post in the Mississippi Dominion, which led to war between the two and their allies, ceasing trade along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. This brought more conflict, and between 1876 and 1899, the former United States were enveloped in a massive war. In 1900, the fighting ceased again with the Treaty of St. Louis, which dissolved Texas, Mississippi, and Huron. Also in St. Louis, the Coalition of Liberty was re-founded, gaining previously unheard of members. In 1914, tensions boiled over in Europe, and the Great War began. The Coalition joined in, and helped push back the Central Powers. In 1916, the Kingdom of Columbia (which encompassed Washington and Oregon) fell, yielding several new, friendlier republics. In 1917, the war ended, and in 1918, the Treaty of Bern was signed, dissolving the German kaiser-led state, and replaced it with the German Republic. The republic was allowed to rebuild its land, and was forced to pay for some of the war damages in France, Russia, and the UK. The German economy progressed, and prospered, due to a new openness to trade caused by the establishment of the Republic.
In 1934, the stock market in New York City crashed, after nearly fifteen years of prosperity. From 1934-1943, the former United States felt a slump in the economy. However, in 1945, the Common Market Agreement, opened the economic borders between members of the Coalition of Liberty, and several other nations, causing the economy to recover somewhat. By the 1950s, prosperity had come back. Between 1950 and 2000, prosperity and peace spread throughout the North American continent (despite a minor war on the Pacific Coast in 1972, which was caused by a clerical error.).
It is now 2016, and it is your job to heal old wounds (after all, grudges are a thing.), and bring upon peace or war, prosperity or depression, liberty or fascism, upon the people of your nation.
JUST SO YOU KNOW...
- WWII did not happen.
- The Cold War did not happen (a shorter Great War caused a less rattled Russian populace, however a revolution occurred several years later, forming the Russian Republic.
- The Middle East is a little less terrorist-y.
- Most of Africa is independent, however some European nations retain territory on that continent.
- China is a republic.
- There is only one Korea. (Empire of Korea)
- Australia is now its own Republic (i.e., not a member of the Commonwealth of Nations).
- New Zealand and Tasmania retain British loyalties, but are independent states.
- Technology is only at what we would describe as a 1960s level.

-Seriously, no oneliners. If you are proposing a treaty, make it in a letter format.
7. The Co-OP may not change the aformentioned (nor this one) rules.

Can you reserve the Republic of California as present-day California, Nevada, and Baja California? If the claims are too big, I can just have California or Nevada, or just Northern California and Nevada.
