FDR isn't mine, so it would have to be Shrill who objected to FDR.

Unless there's another war, I don't think FDR will need it.

Oh, and Rurik, don't assume the CSA's getting nothing. Albany isn't planning any concessions, but London will. In the eyes of Britain herself, this was a grievous defeat that was only saved by uncontrollable forces. So how about the Bahamas or Jamaica or some of the Antilles?
As for the peace conferences, they will be a little delayed ICly. Two nations(The Boer States) won't make peace until early '93 at Vereeniging since peace for them means their absorption into the new Dominion of South Africa.

Good news: I have all day today to spend at home, instead of going to school, which means more NationStates access.
Bad news: I'm running a fever, my nose is clogged, and I've been coughing pretty hard, meaning that I'm too sick to go to school.

Well, while we're looking at peace, should we include the final nasty surprise that awaited the world after the original Great War?

Well, OTL it started in Kansas believe it or not, but with the Canadian defeat, we'll start it in Ontario. It'll be called the Canadian flu, or as some enemies will nickname it, "Albany's Vengeance".

The next several years will be dark ones for humanity, really. A global flu pandemic and a short but intense period of global cooling(1892-early 1894) resulting from the volcanic eruptions will make for some pretty interesting events around the world.

Fact about OTL Theodore Roosevelt: he was very much an American exceptionalist, and thought that the US had to fill the vacuum of the British Empire(which he viewed as on the verge of collapse). He was also an incredibly firm believer in the Monroe Doctrine: he proposed a US invasion of Canada, and went to incredible lengths to get the US involved in Cuba's war of independence.

So obviously that has to change ATL.

When the Congo Civil War comes in the 1960s, it'd be interesting to see how living standards stand up.

Since Boji's told me that Chernobyl is still going to occur, I've decided on an AWWAball rule: the USSRball is to be drawn with three eyes.

AWWA POLANDBALL RULES
- Germany is a Reichtangle
- Imperial Russia always wears a crown
- Jews and the JAO are cubes
- the CSA has sunglasses
- Quebec has a beret
- Britain has a top hat and a monocle
- Jiaozhou has a pickelhaube
- the USSR has three eyes
- Japan does not have 'Asian' features

Not really. Canada is already creating a foreign policy independent of Great Britain's thanks to the six points.

In other news, we have an ATL world without America. After 11 my time tonight, we might have an OTL world without Britain.

Side note: I discovered that until the late 20th/early 21st century, several hereditary titles were given seats on the House of Lords, including the Duke of Gloucester -- this means that the Emperor of Japan is a member of the House of Lords. :P

Since the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the Lords Temporal have been the most numerous group in the House of Lords. Unlike the Lords Spiritual, they may be publicly partisan, aligning themselves with one or another of the political parties that dominate the House of Commons. Publicly non-partisan Lords are called crossbenchers. Originally, the Lords Temporal included several hundred hereditary peers (that is, those whose peerages may be inherited), who ranked variously as dukes, marquesses, earls, viscounts, and barons (as well as Scottish Lords of Parliament). Such hereditary dignities can be created by the Crown; in modern times this is done on the advice of the Prime Minister of the day (except in the case of members of the Royal Family).

In 1999, the Labour government brought forward the House of Lords Act removing the right of several hundred hereditary peers to sit in the House. The Act provided a temporary measure that only 92 individuals may continue to sit in the Upper House by virtue of hereditary peerages.

Of these, two remain in the House of Lords because they hold royal offices connected with Parliament: the Earl Marshal and the Lord Great Chamberlain. Of the remaining 90 members of the House of Lords sitting by virtue of a hereditary peerage in the House of Lords, 14 are elected by the whole House and 74 are chosen by fellow hereditary peers in the House of Lords, grouped by party. This Act, included the Principality of Wales and the Earldom of Chester and removed all Royal Peers including the Duke of Edinburgh, Duke of York, Earl of Wessex, Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent.

So, by this merit, Emperor Alexander I, Empress Elizabeth, Emperor Alexander II and Empress Akane shall all be sitting members of the British House of Lords operating by proxy of the family of Alexander's brother, Prince James, and his descendants, who sit as their retainers. Empress Akane's right to sit in the House of Lords would be revoked in 1999 by the Labour government, and the title would be mostly just a status symbol, that passes on to Noriko in 2008.
