Any decent ideas that may be in there are buried under so much conspiratorial and blatant bias that it's hard to distinguish a possibly legitimate point from utter malarkey. From what I managed to read, the only thing resembling a logical train of thought was "Vulture" guns capable of utilizing enemy ammunition, but he seems to think that this is something everybody needs one of in their IFV. Which leads me to wonder what all the other guys are supposed to do if ammo runs dry and they have to resort to the one rifle they have that can use 7.62x39mm.

The joke was actually to take the AR15's improvements, roll 'em into a 7.62x51mm capable one with interchangeable magwells, then produce 5.56 and 5.45 uppers/magwells to mate onto that, 7.62 uppers/magwells to mate onto that, 12.7BMG uppers to mate onto that, et cetera.

Just judging by the size of the ejection port and not however far the bolt may extend past it, I'd say there's still not enough room. I may be wrong though.

how does forced-air cooling works on guns? because i was thinking about something these days after looking at the IA-2 rifle and the cutouts at the top of the handguard, and got an idea that i think that might be close to forced-air-cooling:

- make the handguard almost completely enclosed and very close to the barrel, with the only connections to the exterior being the front of the handguard (the part where te barrel "sticks out") and a few cutouts or holes at the top. maybe put some thermal isolant material inside of the handguard to prevent the shooter's hand from being cooked.

- hot air rises right? so the air inside the handguard, heated by the barrel, will go away through the cutouts at the top. of course, some will escape by the front, but mostly by the top, i guess.

- now, as hot air leaves the handguard from the top, the air pressure inside of the handguard decreases. as such, fresh cool air from the outside will be "sucked" in through the front and top, cooling the barrel.

would this work? and is this forced-air-cooling or is forced-air-cooling a whole different beast?

I feel I should point out that while pistol whipping with this would be quite troublesome, it is quite apt at the pistol bludgeon.

Another couple of questions.

a) Would square rounds work in a cylinder? I'm fairly sure I've asked this at least once, but cannot find the answer. I think the consensus was that it'd work, but there may be some fiddlyness.

b) What kind of cyclic RoF could I expect from a blowback revolver pistol thing? I know it'd be dependent on the length of travel, and possibly recoil generated. But any ballpark figures would be nice. I'll do my best to provide any required figures.

do i see a brazilian lizart pattern there? and brazilian-esque names? and the writing "EXÉRCITO" (army) in the shoulder patch?

is this a mountain division undergoing training in britain? because, while i cannot read the shoulder patch very well, from what i can see it reads "montanha" (mountain) and the brazilian army likes to give patches with the names of the environments a division or soldier operates on (for instance, soldiers fighting in the caatinga usually have a shoulder patch reading "caatinga".)

i know that, earlier this year, our marines participated in an exercise with 'murican marines. is the brazilian army doing exercises in britain as well?

it depends what you mean by square rounds and how you intend to feed them in.

what RoF do you want? For a retarded/delayed blowback/short recoil pistol i don't see much point in using a revoler feed as these will easily top 1800-2100rpm naturally (VP70 went to 2200rpm) i.e about the same region revolvers top out at.

I imagine that refers to trying to figure out the road signs.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The above post contains hyperbole, metaphoric language, embellishment and exaggeration. It may also include badly translated figures of speech and misused idioms. Analyze accordingly.

Same. The entire West Midlands is just permanently soggy, from my experience.

Anyway, ref. the RPG thing I'm working on, bipod or no bipod? Kinda thinking about saving weight, but I don't suppose a cheap stamped bipod would really add too much.

Pretty much.

I don't see a need for a bipod, although I guess it could be useful as a vertical grip as well as a bipod, if you do divide to put one on.

There doesn't need to be one, as immoren said. The bipod on the RPG series has largely falled from favor, though its still taught. The RPG-16, on the other hand, made use of it.

Also, Immoren, were you ever trained on the RPG-7, received any familiarization, ect?

Square cartridges may have been a more accurate way to describe them. As to feeding, something like this,
but from a magazine, and lacking the ejection phase.

Standard machine pistol RoFs. Just in a mechanism suited for caseless rounds.
