I'm back again! I really need to stop disappearing all the time. I'd like to blame aliens, but I probably should blame a combination of schoolwork and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Anyway, this New Harmony-thing seems interesting. Maybe I should join?

I'm also reminded of the idea I've had for a while about a Tentaklist equivalent to the Elements of Harmony. Eight chosen representing the virtues of Compassion, Affection, Wisdom, Honesty, Tolerance, Forgiveness, Courage and Fun (I think I even have a half-written opening post somewhere on my computer).
With all that's happening, a back-up plan might be needed if the Harmonists fail? Something for a parallel RP perhaps?

A premature Happy New Year to everyone. Don't forget to stop into the IRC channel for some discount champagne by Wednesday night (since on Thursday I will have drank all that's left and will probably be hung over for a bit).

Why do you want to RP with CoPS?: I have multiple friends that roleplay within the region, and I've heard great things about it.

Please link us to Some RP Samples you have: I am a veteran player of roleplaying servers within garry's mod, which helped to build my RP skills and immersion. I also have some experience roleplaying within Nationstates itself, as I have taken part in multiple RP regions.

Please link us to any factbook or NSwiki page about your nation: Leonez is a fledgeling nation with big plans. The country is primarily headed by its religious figurehead, with a goverment that deals with the day-to-day issues. The economy is taking off as the population grows, and political freedoms and civil rights are beginning to increase.
Further information

What are some RP ideas you have? How active do you think you would be in CoPS? I believe that I would be very active, as I currently check my Nationstates about every twenty minutes hoping for my next issue. I want to make my nation more in-depth and begin creating a factbook, wiki page and work on projects - but I felt that it was pointless without a region that I am a part of. As a part of Pony Lands, I plan to be an active member on the forums and in the IRC.

If you really have some experience in NS RP, it is very much preferred that you link them to us as samples even if they're from your other nations, if you have one. And I don't know about the others, but I don't think I'll take garry's mod into account as it's a bit different than message-board roleplaying and clearly more than one-liners in multiplayer chat.

Secondly, if you could write a lot more detail about your nation that would be delightful. Not from the gameplay-side description of your nation (your nation page), but from what you actually want to RP your nation as.

Seeing from the app; Malgrave, Kouralia, or Lubyak probably would ask you to write a short story or some sort. It's not my call though. We'll see what you can provide to us.

I second Lykosia here even while taking into account Gawd's vouching. If we could have Lubyak provide a prompt and you write a short story around that that would go much further towards you being accepted. Also what other nations have you ran on NS out of curiosity? I would also prefer to know more about your nation as well, what is its government type, a hint at their big plans as well as its people and culture ( This is a FanT setting as well so at this point I'm assuming lion-people but...)

Factoring in Gawdz's backing I lean in favour, but yeah...I'm not sure what the RPing community on Garry's Mod is like, but a link or so would not be amiss. Just to get an idea for your writing style and what not more so than anything else. If you give me a bit, I'll try and come up with a writing prompt for you.

I should've added more detail to my patronage, as it were. Leonez used to have a nation here called Shrykrria, which I'm 99% sure is somewhere in the graveyard. He RP'd with me on an off-site .webs forum between '10-'12, and was more active than most there. I'm not sure that forum even exists (webs.com informs me its been locked due to inactivity, don't blame em), but I just want to assure everyone he's not some random mangy n00b nation I'm throwing a backing behind.

Some other things;
- We've known each other IRL for at least six years now
- Close friends with both myself and Verflucht
- Was a groomsman at my wedding, gorram it :p

I've already harassed him to provide some written example of his RP know-how, which should arrive sometime soon I hope. 8)

Greetings!
If you could give me the writing prompt, I'd gladly whip something up for you. I would have liked to link the Nationstates group that myself and Gawdzendia were a part of - but as he said it kind of disappeared due to age. Just as some more information about it though, I roleplayed in the NS group that Gawdzendia originated in (and was about as active as him, though not nearly as powerful). My nation was called Shrykrria, and was a separatist offspurt of Gawdzendia.

As far as the Garry's Mod RP community goes, it mostly consists of 12 year olds that have no idea how to roleplay whatsoever :P There are some people that know what they're doing (I like to think of myself as one of such people, and my group of friends that RP with me). We've been commended a number of times on our roleplaying prowess, and how we actually react to situations in ways that fit our characters.

Another example of RP that I can provide is from Dawn of Worlds (a world building/roleplaying game) that Gawd was also a part of. I created a race of beings that I had begun to RP with, and made a number of posts under that mantle. Again, unfortunately I cannot link it as it requires a login - but I can spoiler some examples here. Keep in mind that this is starting from the very roots of my civilization, with the actual creation of the race itself.

The Origins of the Silaat (The race I created): Aeons ago, the Silaat (then called the Druren), emerged from underground. They wished to live on the surface of the planet, and make use of the riches available there. It was not to be, for after millenia of living in dark tunnels and caverns it was impossible for them to adjust to the harsh light on the surface.
Decades passed, and the Druren wished to remedy the issue of their crippling photosensitivity. They strived for so long and so hard, that their collective will in this endeavor caused them to create a being of pure light. This being resided with them in the earth until such time as they could look upon him without fear of his light. Finally, it spoke to them.
"Gather every one of the Druren, and bring them to me."
Every man, woman, and child went on that day to the greatest cavern in the earth. They all looked upon him, the incarnation of the sheer will of the species. He looked back, and spoke again.
"On this day, you shall all have that which you have wanted most. We shall as one venture to the surface, and stare into the light." These few words that he said they all regarded as law, for what this being desired was truly the desire of the collective of all of the Druren.
So the Druren marched to the surface of the planet, and when they reached it found that they felt no pain from looking into the daylight. The immense beauty of the frozen landscape was breathtaking to each of them, and they longed to begin building their new home on the iceswept plains. But the benevolent being of light would not let them. He continued to walk across the expanse, and much as the Druren would have liked to have stopped - they followed. For the being knew that these frozen wastes were no place for the Druren to settle, they would not have lasted long at all.
For what seemed like an eternity they trekked across the snow and ice, never stopping or slowing. Through the blackest nights and the harshest of blizzards they followed his light, until finally they reached the end of the snow. For the first time they saw grass, and knew that this was the right place. Their leader stood before them all once more, and held up a hand to silence the cries of joy.
"Now I must leave you, but know that I will always be near. Should you ever need me you will not be left wanting. In the darkest times I will come to you, and bring light to your race -"
But then a young Druren boy interrupted the being. Gasps arose from nearly every bystander, but the being listened to what the boy said.
"Excuse me, but who are you?" It was a question that had been burning in the minds of every Druren in existence, but none had dared to ask.
"I am Silaas, the Lightbringer. Created as a testament to your race and their desire to be free of darkness and confinement."
Silaas knelt before the boy, and placed a hand upon his shoulder. The hand burned the boy most intensely, but without pain or true harm. It left a mark on him that could never be washed away, but nor would the boy ever try.
"No longer are you the Druren, who dwelt within the world. Now, you are the Silaat - unified and unbound. Remember boy, anything that any of you desire is possible if you all strive to achieve it as one. Never give up, and remember to call on me if times are truly dark."
Thus were the Silaat born.

Into the Night (Some back and forth storytelling between myself and Verflucht, who was also a member of the Dawn of Worlds group):
Me: "The darkness grows closer. Creeping towards us, the heralds of light! Something must be done!"
Lord Quintus Grex, High Inquisitor of Silaas stood before the citizens of Pharus. They observed him with awe, for rarely did he come down from the Great Altar to speak. On the eastern horizon, naught could be seen but black - though it was high noon in the city.
"What must we do?" someone from the crowd pleaded. In times of trouble the Silaat looked to the current High Inquisitor, for it was said that Silaas would speak to him in his dreams. He would know what to do.
Grex pondered for a moment, for he had not prepared a speech.
"We must find the source of it. This darkness is surely of dark magic, it cannot be natural."
"Our brave troops must launch an expedition across the sea, towards the night. Only within can we understand."
Cheers erupted from the crowd. The Silaat were not prone to cowardice or flight.
"I shall speak with our Generals. On the morrow, we sail!"
In the early hours of the morning shortly before dawn, rain fell from heavy clouds. It rang off the armor of the hundred twenty Silaat missionaries, standing motionless at attention. As Silaat custom dictates, troops heading into danger spent the night in silent vigil. Prayers to Silaas were whispered from bowed heads.
The sun rose over the horizon, the rain lessened but did not cease. As one, the Silaat rotated and formed a single column. They began to march in line, east towards the coast. An hour of ceaseless marching led them to the sea, where four large ships were moored in wait. They had been shapen by arcanomages throughout the night, for this expedition.
Small canoes ferried the troops to the metal longships, where they took their positions.
Soon the ships were at sail, blazing across the storming ocean towards the blackness. It would not be long before they reached it.
A thick mist enveloped the ships, dead in the water. The Silaat had not yet manned the oars for they stood on the decks, observing the surroundings of the ships.
The mist had a sinister aura about it, purple but so dark that it was nearly black and impenetrable. In the distance shapes could be seen moving across the sky and water, but no shapes that the minds of mortals could comprehend.
A shape moved rapidly towards the northernmost longboat, growing in size over time. Within moments, the shape was nearly upon the ship.
Suddenly the dark figure burst into flame, emitting a shriek so piercing that the Silaat of the nearest ship gripped their ears and howled in pain, falling to the deck and writhing. The flaming mass impacted the fore of the ship, punching straight through the forward armor and screaming through the whole vessel. It reached the rear of the ship and exploded against the inner side of the rear armor. The ship detonated in a mushroom cloud of flame, but was almost instantaneously extinguished and silenced by the mist.
The occupants of the remaining three ships cried out, simultaneously terrified and enraged at the loss of their brethren.
"MAN THE OARS!!!" screamed the captain of the leading longboat. The Silaat sprinted below and sat at their stations, beginning to row in perfect unison.
"INCOMING, AFT!" the lookout shouted down from the crow's nest. Another shape was approaching, from a great distance. Three of the Silaat crewmen on the aft end of the deck brought a ballista to bear on the shape. Cranking back the mechanism, they took aim and waited for the shape to get closer.
A minute later they fired at the much larger target. The massive bolt punched straight through the foe, which dissapated around the missile. The resulting smoke gathered a foot away from its original position, but halted its approach. Another shape began to approach the current assailant. Then another.
"WE CAN'T TURN BACK! FULL SPEED AHEAD!" ordered the leading captain.
The Silaat rowed for all their worth, murmuring individual prayers to Silaas. All the while, a chaplain stood at the front of the ranks of oarsmen, shouting prayers for their safety.
Hours of torment ensued, with dozens of the monstrosities harassing the longboats and being dissuaded with 8 foot long metal bolts.
Then light became visible in the distance. They had made it through to the other side of the void, but with no indication of its origin. And with no way to return, without somehow skirting it to return to Pharus.
With nothing but open seas ahead.

The Moog (Verflucht's race): The sun was but a broken ship, sinking into the ocean as Foreman Razog stepped out from the mess hall. They were losing light, quickly, and only four fifths of the cargo had been loaded. With a dissatisfied grunt he made his way across Ochuog's dock, brushing past the workers and sidestepping the Vulg. As much authority he commanded, the massive golems would not heed it. He managed to avoid being crushed and arrived where his underlings scrambling to get things moving.
"I've seen Kigg work faster than you lot." Razog spat the insult more than spoke it. "These supplies need to be in Gul within the week, but I doubt we'll make it by the end of the year at this rate!" The assorted underlings shrank under the irate foreman's barrage, sputtering excuses and tripping over words. Luckily for them the foreman knew that berating wasn't working, and was quick to solve the problems himself. He sent one of them to the Vulg controllers, another to the ship's captain, and more to every facet that needed attention. It was just when Razog was barking his final orders when a sharp cry cut him off.
"Unknown vessel spotted to the south-west, approaching from the Sundering!" A lookout shouted from his watchpost. A confused and conspiritcal murmur broke out amongst the Moog. Even Razog momentarily forgot his task and peered out over the waves. It was hard to see, but sure enough there was some dark blot on the horizon. His brow furrowed; nothing had ever come from the Sundering before. The heat was simply far too intense. He asked the question everyone was thinking: "What in Gorog's name is that?"
Across the country, shrouded eyes flashed blue, as uncertain of the truth as anyone in Ochuog.

Back to me: A column of figures marched across the desert. Intense winds threw sand against every bit of exposed skin. Barely visible through the sandstorm, each figure had an arm outstretched and grasping the shoulder of the next. Shorter folk marched at the fore and rear of the line. Clearly the taller figures had begun the journey as captives, but were now more like comrades in the struggle for survival.
"Gates ahead!" screamed a Moogolian trooper from the head of the column. Muffled grunts of relief rolled back along the colum - nobody wanted to open their mouths wide enough to allow sand in.
The column began to break up, everyone rushing to the front. A massive stone wall loomed before them, a single canyon penetrating it. An equally massive gate blocked it, with bunkers carved into the walls above.
The gates swung slowly open, guards watchful from above. Ballistas levelled at the captives, but were waved away by the Moog troops from the column. They had grown to understand that the Silaat, a peaceful race, had no interest in fighting the Moog.
Herded through the street, the Silaat struggled to stay together amidst the stampede. Lower and lower they went, being brought to the capitol buildings. Into a massive building carved into the face of the canyon itself. Within the building sat a multi-tiered chamber, with each tier a few feet higher than the last.
Ranks of Moogolians manned each of the tiers, with guards surrounding the Silaat on the floor.
The Silaat, recognizing authority figures - knelt before them as one, hands on their raised knee and heads bowed. A moment later they stepped back and stood, in perfect unison. Well rehearsed. Standing in ranks, the Silaat loomed silently - nearly twice the height of each Moogolian in the chamber.
Since birth, they had been taught to not speak unless spoken to by the upper class.
The Moog: The immobility of the hulking Vulg was in stark contrast to the unsettled murmuring that rippled through the senate. Directly in front and above of the strangers sat Goyen Perg, elected leader of the Moog. His was the first voice to pierce the tense air.
"Hail, strangers. I am Perg, Goyen of the Republic of Moogolia. You have cautiously been permitted as guests instead of prisoners. Convince me that this was not a mistake."
A single Silaat Captain stepped forward to address the Goyen.
"Sir, we have not come here to bring you harm. Our commanders ordered us to explore the Abscess, and we ended up on the other side. We come from across the sea, far to the west. We are not a battle group, you need not worry."
The other Silaat nodded slowly, murmuring in agreement.
"We were unable to turn around and return home, for terrible things live within the void. We are stranded here, so we must make the best of it. No Silaat have ever ventured this far east, therefore we seek knowledge. Obviously you may be wary of this request, but we would like to ask it of you nonetheless. Have you any maps of the surrounding area?"
The uncertain faces of the assembled Moog sidled closer to contempt at this question. Perg looked around him at the other high ranking officials, silently conferring with each. Then, he turned his attention back to the captain.
"Because you are outlanders, and do not know of our customs, I will not take offence this time. However, do know that exploration of the world is sacred to our people. To so callously ask for our findings is, at the very least, uncouth." Perg leaned forward in his chair, leering down at the Silaat. "On the other hand, you claim you came from beyond the Sundering. And you must have come far indeed, because we have no records of anything akin to this "Abscess" you speak of. In the light of this information we will tolerate this discussion. What need have you of our maps?"
The Silaat grew more tense, slightly bending their knees as if expecting to be attacked at any moment. The Captain remained upright and spoke again.
"Our sincerest apologies. We only need a way around the Abscess, for we lost a hundred of our men during our last attempt to traverse it. We believe that it may be possible to simply skirt it, though we cannot be sure..."
Perg squinted, his tongue running slowly over his teeth as if trying to discern a foreign flavour. After great deliberation, the Goyen spoke.
"Your words seems sincere, and if they truly are, you have my condolences for your dead. Regardless, our maps are too valuable to simply give away. However, I think I speak for everyone here when I say the Moog have an immense desire to learn more about your people and your lands. Therefore, I have a proposition: you allow a sizeable military force aboard your vessels who will carry the maps you ask for on their person. They will navigate for you to the best of our knowledge. In return, you will share the your ability to brave the churning heat of the Sundering and permit us free passage, within reason, in your lands. Do you have the authority to agree to this pact, and if so, what is your answer?"
"Sadly, I do not have the authority to fully agree to it. I see no reason to deny you passage with us, save to pay you a warning. One fourth of our party were lost on the voyage here, and placing your men with us is placing them in danger. Of course, we welcome any assistance in our journey. I cannot share with you the secrets we have of surviving the Sundering, but I can ensure that your men will come to no harm while crossing it. As far as the welcoming of your men in our lands, the Silaat have never shut their borders to outsiders. Even the Bolg in the north, whom we have been warring with for centuries, are not attacked on sight when entering our lands. Only if they attack us first. Beyond that, I leave the decision up to you. They are your men, and they are welcome."
It was evident with the scowls of the senate that this response was not what they had hoped. The hunger in their eyes betrayed their true feelings, however.
"We are clearly the ones giving more in this situation," Perg gave voice to everyone's thoughts. "But we are eager to have the first other sentient race we've met as friends rather than foes. And so, we will aid you. Just know this: if you betray our trust, the full weight of Moogolia will come to bear." Perg settled back into a more relaxed position. "We will sail in two weeks, during which our people and yours will prepare for the journey. Until then, you will be housed in one of our barracks and closely guarded. This brings the 476th Hearing of Waagh to a close."
"Tugor ag tefeg, bogok Moog gol Gorog!" The sudden chorus was spoken in near unison by all Moog present before the crowded chamber began to empty.
The Silaat knelt again before the Goyen, and followed their escort to their quarters. The Captain tried to hide his apprehension at being held here for two weeks. Clearly they would need to be more cautious of offending the Moog. Silent thanks to Silaas were said by every Silaat in the exploration team, for they knew the meeting could have gone significantly worse.

Pharus, home of the Silaat (An overview of my capital city): Massive stores of metal were gathered for the Silaat's new home. Powerful arcanomagi used the power of their will to shape the metal and form it into walls and pillars, slowly molding towering buildings. Four of these magi there were, each tasked with creating a special building, each for a different use.
One building would be used to shelter the Silaat and keep them safe. One for the magi to hone their powers without endangering those less prone to the use of magic. Another for the engineering of metals and machines, and one more for the brave Silaat that would defend their race from harm. In a matter of days, the city of Pharus rose from nothing but piles of ore. Walls were constructed on each side to shield the city, more from the elements than attackers, but the city was not fully walled off, for the Silaat fear nothing more than confinement after the millenia they spent trapped below the ground.

Guide: (Refer to "A Map of Pharus")
Central (triangular) building: Domicile - Inside this building there are hundreds of rooms, similar to very small apartments. The Silaat spend the majority of their day outdoors, so not much space is required for them to simply sleep. The rooms are arranged around the walls of the building (the dark lines represent the boundaries of the apartments). In the center of the building is a massive common area, where the Silaat frequently eat and convene. The long structure protruding to the north represents a massive staircase of one thousand steps leads up to the top of a tower, within which is an altar dedicated to Silaas. In times of sadness, strife, or desperation, the Silaat will climb these steps to pray and offer homage (no sacrifices are made) to The Lightbringer. The altar also acts like a beacon for Silaat returning to the city, as it is lit so brightly that it can be seen from a great distance.
Western (red) building: War Quarter - This building is essentially the command center for the Silaat forces. The northern (red) tower is where the generals convene to decide on matters of conflict. The central tower (with the two staircases) is used as a training field for soldiers. The southern tower is the armory. All weapons, armors, and machines of war are stored in this tower.
Southeastern (green) building: Arcanum - This whole building is a single tower (the base is the northern circle, with it rising in height until it peaks at the southern green circle). Within this tower all matters of magic are controlled. Magi study their art, hone their talents, and discover new uses for their power.
Northeast (gold) building: Forgeworks - Day and night, the Silaat toil to create their powerful arcanomachines. They work inside this structure, which is essentially a massive factory. It is near enough to the Arcanum that the magi are able to control the completed machines straight off the assembly line, without leaving the comfort of their tower. The southern section of the Forgeworks is used as storage, for both completed machines (non-military) and the resources to create new machines. The northern section is the beginning of the assembly line, the central section is the end. Between the southern and northern towers is a large track on which carts are used to carry materials to the beginning of the assembly line.
(A number of reference images were provided, and a map created for the city as well. These are no longer available due to some sort of error on the host website.)

I know these aren't directly NS related, but I figured they might qualify as an example of my writing and roleplay. I'm also happy to write something from the prompt if it's required!

Wow, this looks really good. I think we have a suitable contender here.
I use this old account for FT, Pentaga Giudici and Vadia are for MT.

"Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening"

Construction is taking forever, but Prole Confederation will be paying millions of Trade Units for embassies and merchants that show up at the SBTH

Hey all, I'd just like to ask a question. As you know, there are a large number of what might as well be called 'NPC nations' on the map. Nations whose players have either left, or were created as an NPC nation to begin with. RP has been slow in the region as of late, so in hopes of kickstarting things, I would like to propose a kind of 'open season'. If you'd like to use one of these NPC nations in an RP, and you can't find the original player to ask their permission, post here, and let us know. If we still can't find the original player to ask their permission, then--in good faith--we'll allow RP to take place with that nation as the active player sees fit. Of course, we'll have to have guidelines in place for nations that have some kind of established history, but I hope that this might allow some kick starting of RP in PL.

And, of course, if the NPC nation is controlled by a player, then ask them. This policy would only be meant to allow us to RP with those nations who no longer have a player around to ask.

What do you guys think?
