Just a heads up. If I owe you posts or docs (which is a lot), don't expect me to post as I have been experiencing computer problems in the past few weeks. What are some RP ideas you have? How active do you think you would be in CoPS? I'm in both College and holding down a Full-time Job now, so I'll likely be even more inactive then before... Though I've always had this idea on the back burner of my to do list of White Plume Peak, the second largest volcano in Southern Poneria erupting and sending the entire Confederacy reeling, thus allowing less reputable elements (and even member states/out of state actors) the opportunity to act free of supervision (and against the Confederacy or those trying to help it). Though it's always just been an idea and will definitely have to wait until I'm done restructuring everything.

It's a little empty right now, but I'm working on that. My nation is comprised of semi-magical creatures called Arkites that are split into the two species of Horlas and Shifters. Ponies constitute a close minority, a little under one third of the population. The Arkites just came out of a huge war that nearly drove them to extinction (See factbook "The Great War") and are being propped up by the ponies as they begin to rebuild.
What are some RP ideas you have? How active do you think you would be in CoPS?
Arkites are vulnerable and weak at the moment. This could be cause for foreign espionage, foreign aid, alliances, fleet operations, trade agreements, all sorts of juicy RP subjects. In addition, the Arkites are in the process of hunting down and exterminating evil Hybrids that breed chaos and perpetuated the war. Some of these Hybrids fled outside Arkesh, reason enough for Arkesh to move forces to foreign territory in search of them. That could cause some things that happen.

I like what I'm seeing so far...as a prompt...Hmm
How about a more detailed story of one of the battles described in your factbook? It can be anything you want, from a commander's perspective to a soldier on the ground. Doesn't have to be too long, a paragraph or two will be more than enough.

Excerpt from a report given to the High Council of Zaria, November 11th, 3876 P.C.
Subject: Major Turklev's failure at the Siege of Marinum



The massive guns towered over us, blocking out the starlight across vast swathes of the beautiful night sky. I was proud of them, really. My men had managed to set them up in less than an hour, record time for Orwell Company. We had put them up in a square, around our camp. It was young Tarpin's idea. Bright young lad, that soldier.
"Put them up around our camp" he said "It'll be like a fortress. There won't be a single Shifter that can get at us."
Tarpin was my subsidiary, mainly because of his wits. Boy's younger than half the men here, but I made him second in command.


"Look" I said to them "The boys got brains. Soon as you folks get yourselves together upstairs, you're up for promotion. Until then, you're going to stay put!"


Made a couple of my men angry when I told them that, but they listened to my command. My command is the High Council's command, and no-body wants to cross the High Council of Zaria. Except those no good Shifters. Oh, the thought of them, cowering in their little hole they call Marinum… why, it just revolted me. Sooner we starved them out, the better. I was content with my force. We had a good dozen Scarabs holding position just outside our camp. I was rallying my men for the assault in the morning.


It feels good to command men. When I was up there in my radio station, I looked down and all I saw was Orwell Company, all 200 of them, doing exactly what I told them to do. Served 23 years and I never got over that feeling, like you got real power in you. All those men, all those war machines, mine to command. I was immersed in this whole feeling when I heard shots from outside my perimeter, out in the dark.
I thought to myself 'Now's not the time to be messing around, men!'. I was angry now, real angry. This was an important battle, no room for error. Couldn't they see that, with their beady little eyes? I stormed down to the yard, ready to let loose on whoever was firing their damn weapons out in the dark. I was just about to start spouting fighting words when a rocket came out of the dark and blasted one of my big guns. The thing swayed a little , its armor was twisted up something bad. I remember thinking 'These no way in hell this was my men! They might not be too bright, but they aren't stupid. '


"Raise the alarm!" I ordered to old Private Dorad. Poor old sod shot off, frightened as could be, strait for the sirens.
My Scarabs got the message. They started clambering around the camp to the gunshots. I was just wondering what was going on when my very own Tarpin came hurtling out of the night, clutching his side.


"Major, sir! It's the Shifters! They came from nowhere! It's not my fault!" I gave him a pat on the shoulder, then I ran to one of my Scarabs. I popped the hatch and came aboard. My Scarabs had opened fire. I told them to hold around the camp. I needed by men in cover, back behind our defenses. My men were emptying their magazines into the dark, but bullets kept coming back at them.
Just then, another rocket came flying in. I think this one hit the base of the gun, and there was a great big hole there now. I remember thinking to myself 'why on earth would they do that?'. I got my answer real soon. The crown of that first gun turned around, and lit up as it fired on the other guns. It got the one behind us, before it was hit my other two emplacements. Now I had two huge burning husks lighting up my camp. That meant I could see my enemy now. I moved my Scarab up, I moved my whole Company up. I did not like what I saw.


There was a hundred Scarabs easily, all lined up nice and orderly. Behind them, there was a sea of Shifters, cowering behind their armored vehicles. They squirmed like maggots as they writhed around back there, firing off their rifles at my men. I saw one sharpshooter take a shot, and I saw the bullet make its mark, taking one of my men down. I saw it again and again. Then I heard shots from behind us. A rocket came and hit the Scarab next to mine, blowing it all up from behind. Two more rockets came for the crown of one of my guns. I was looking up when one of them Shifters shot out my pilot. I grabbed control and I ran back. I ordered my men back, but they wouldn’t listen. I kept falling back, and the Shifters were right behind me the whole time. Called to my men, but no one answered me. Not a soul. I escaped out of the camp with my Scarab. 'I need to regroup' I thought. 'Take back the guns!' I called again, but no one answered. I stopped the engines for a moment. I heard nothing. No gunshots. I looked back and all I could see was four burning guns against the cold night sky.





Major Turklev was dishonorably discharged for cowardice on November 20th, 3876. His whereabouts since that day are unknown.

Why do you want to RP with CoPS?:
As a primarily PT and Steampunk nation, there's very little opportunity for high quality RPs, and even less scope to involve the alternate history of the world in which my nation is set. This groups seems to provide the opportunity to get more involved with the NS RPing community as a PT and Steampunk nation.

This is an ongoing RP that I've just started based around diplomatic intrigue and international spy networks. It is not far advanced at the moment.

I'm happy to write another RP sample in a different style and based around a different scope too if needed.

In terms of how my nation operates, it is set at any point from 1878 to the present day (and even the future if the RP calls for it). However, due to the meteor strike known as the Fall (you'll recognise this if you've read the Peshawar Lancers by S.M. Stirling), technology is stuck at roughly 1880s levels with some steampunk elements too (such as automobiles in the steampunk style, for example).

Again, if more information is needed, please say so and I can provide it.

What are some RP ideas you have? How active do you think you would be in CoPS?
I'm very interested in colonial based rivalries (something along the lines of the Scramble for Africa or the Great Game) which are based heavily around diplomacy and proxy wars rather than direct conflict. I would love to do something like that with the added element of a magic nation versus a technologically-based steampunk nation.

I also like the idea of a character-based RP centred around the romantic era of exploration (such as Scott of the Antarctic versus Amundsen).

And then of course there's the traditional war-based RP, but that's just to blow off some steam more than anything else.

My activity should be fairly high as I'm not tied to any RP region and I see this as the primary place to find a good RP, so I should be able to keep up the post count.

I did have one idea about a demonic infestation threatening the world and the Prophet of Tentaklos, inspired by how the Elements of Harmony work (which he learned about in My Little Prophet), tries to assemble an international team of demon-fighters powered by the Tentacles of Tentaklos.
