Although post-War Governance starships are generally new and shiny, most pre-War ships of that type were based in highly-populated areas and very few made it through intact. Seemingly contradictorily, the civilian ships with the highest survival rate were the crappy rustbuckets that serviced the colonies on the fringes of civilized space, which you would think would be the first to go given their run-down shielding systems and half-burnt-out drive systems.
Like many of its kind, this junker has found a new run of usefulness moving essential goods and colonists out into the new Atmosplanes, as well as ferrying stuff around the more tightly-packed areas of existing Atmosplanes, where ESI and Krab Interstellar's hyperfreighters rarely venture.

The most well known project to be picked up by Icarus was the Type-II Power Armor, which had previously been under supervision by the secret North Caucasian Research Bureau. More projects continued to be founded and researched -- and, more often than not, scrapped --while Icarus gained more and more favor as a government contractor and researcher. Other successful endeavors by Icarus were the Human Augmentation Project with top medical professionals in Rostov, and the rebuilding and strengthening of the Orbital Satellite Relay & Defense net which had been badly damaged in a major conflict in 2013.

By the 2020's, the globe was rapidly changing. The increasing role of automatons and augmented troops on the battlefield gave rise to the new power armored soldiers and cybernetic agents. New tanks were built in all shapes and sized to utilize new technologies and take advantage over their opponents. While the Praetorian MBT was still a faithful Confederate weapon, Icarus had begun to develop a new armored vehicle to take its place in the future. Attempts had already been made to mount new equipment on the Praetorian, and even bigger guns, but no real effort had been made to drastically improve upon the design. Icarus, sometime between 2023 and 2027, unveiled their new vehicle: The Hercules MBT. The Hercules mounted a railgun, providing more power and accuracy than the Praetorian's 125mm gun, while size was cut down. Technological advancements cut down on crew size, allowing more space for equipment and computers, and new armor provided similar protection with added benefits. The Hercules was adopted in small numbers by the Confederate government in the late 2020's and 2030's as an effective opponent to new NATO and Russian types.

Crewed by 6-10 military specialists and scientists, the Colonizer is capable of operating for about 5-7 days with its onboard supplies.

Equipped with a boarding ladder and entry door by the cockpit, and a main ramp in the rear section, the amphibious, articulated transport vehicle rides on three pairs of trinary wheels, independently powered by high horsepower electric motors and a central microfusion powerplant, which provides all power and is supplemented by batteries and a solar panel.

One, 25mm rotary barrel chin gun firing piezoelectric fused caseless rounds. Limited traverse.
One, 25mm rotary barrel dorsal gun firing piezoelectric fused caseless rounds. 360-degree coverage.
One, 8-cell ADATS launcher - 4 SA-9 SHORAD, 4 Hellfire.

After the initial colonization and founding of the Center City enclave, limited production of Colonizers began, with unarmed reconnaissance and cargo carrying variants built to expand scouting missions into areas where mining and farming could begin. Armed versions remained on patrol to protect the land area being settled.

The Air Farce couldn't put a GAU-12A on a Landmaster, since it's from a movie. My rendition is a stretched version of the Damnation Alley unit with six trinaries instead of four and subsequently a higher payload for more flexible weapons fits without compromising the need for a crew living space and cargo. Electric powered guns fit the theme of a fusion electric powered vehicle, and weight savings on the caseless ammo, using a piezoelectric expanding chemical propellant instead of gunpowder and brass casings make the system potentially practical.

The GEAR 1 interpretation of ADATS is not the overweight and dead from diabetic coma Canadian travesty. It is simply a containerized system that is built to fire both ATGM (Hellfire) and SHORAD (SA-9) with a set of associated black boxes and remote firing station.

Since the Colonizer is modular to some degree, I would not be opposed to removing more "dangerous" weapons like the 120mm atomic unguided rockets in favor of a Hughes TUA twin unit. But, with the G1 ADATS already aboard, doesn't make sense to carry two missile systems with the same purpose. One of the "intended" limitations of the Colonizer is that it is difficult to reload the missiles and rockets in the field, and you have to trade room for spares with cargo (food) or a crew member, which plays better in my RPG sessions such as Twilight 2000, Traveller 2300 and The Morrow Project. The roof is too high off the ground to make a Mark 19 or M2HB remote station practical for close in defense, nor a 5.56mm electric Minigun.

Then again, this isn't CYOE, the place where fantasy gets shat on, isn't it?
