Wealth in your Nation?

Postby Gallade » Fri Jan 13, 2012 7:43 am

What classifies wealth in your nation? Is it a large net worth, a stable career, possessions, family, social class etc.?

In the Galladian Empire, one is considered wealthy if they live within an upper cities walls, own one or more slave and can support two or more life partners. These citizens are usually entrepreneurs or aristocrats, own wide tracts of lands on our colonies throughout space, and enjoy the hedonistic lifestyle offered to those with power and wealth within the Empire.

Living within the immediate area of the palace is often only available to the most wealthy of citizens. However, the wealthy are taxed heavier than the poor.

Every one of these things, with how important each one is depending on who you ask. Christians also talk of being "wealthy in Christ," which is a spiritual condition.
There's really a difference in RPing a bad nation, and RPing a nation badly.

I'm not actually a racist. That's just how I play the nation. Leave me alone if it bothers you that much.

If something I have posted offends you, step back, take a deep breath, and ask yourself: Does he care? If it really offends you, drop me a line. I'm always up for a civil conversation.

Knowledge is wealth in Rumbria - While being a member of the Intellectual Elite does not at all ensure personal wealth, and in fact, acts as a massive barrier towards its attainment, the men and women who comprise this elite are given far higher social status, are very well looked after and generally regarded as superior in Rumbria.
So goddamned leet: Rumbria is ranked 6th in the region and 1,337th in the world for Most Godforsaken.

Health, healthy relationships and freedom.

Freedom would probably be the standard definition of wealth in most societies. That is, freedom to do what you want, when you want, and not have to worry about money. But what good is money if you cannot spend your time in good company and are healthy to enjoy it?

It is difficult to define wealth exactly but according to the latest census, anyone who earns above 500,000 tsenyens per year is considered "super rich" (1%), anyone earning 100,000-400,000 per year is considered "Upper Class" (4%) and anyone earning 60,000-99,000 per year is considered "Upper Middle Class" (10%).

Most of these people would be considered wealthy, as would anyone who owns assets worth over 1,000,000 tsenyens.

Two ways to tell if a Tsvarchivan is wealthy:

1. They own or finance their home.
2. They own or finance one or more vehicles.

If one, or both, are true, chances are they're wealthy, with little exception.

It depends, but typically owning a home and a vehicle is a sign that that particular person(s) has enough money.

Usually, the amount of money and the number of large shiny objects one has translates to wealth.
Although, wealth is shown in the military in medals, kills, and battle scars.

A continuous supply of large quantities of money, usually accompanied by land ownership.

However there is a faction of society, mainly nobility, that considers the "New Rich" to be below such recognition. Such members of society generally require a few generations of rich parents and a family manorto be considered.

This is pretty much our standard of wealth. Things are so different across our nation that setting any particular amount of money or possessions or property is useless.

It depends on the individual. Some people favour having a good family, a good job and stable finances is having wealth. Some people think that having a large disposible income to acquire the latest and most fashionable items is having wealth. Some people even think that being pious enough and having a good relationship with God/Allah/insert deity here, is having wealth.

So, there isn't a universal concept of wealth here.

Wealth in the Russo-Spanish Empire is defined as those who maintain a vast physical and monetary fortune of possession etc. As well as social standing, caste and family line. Usually most of truly wealthy in the Empire are Nobility and Royalty. Though, whatever way one looks at a wealthy Russo-Spaniard, they are far in difference from the rest of the world's wealthy; often giving away far in excess of what they have both physically and otherwise.

The wealth of knowledge is pretty important, as is your standard of living, although that shouldn't be a problem with the welfare here and whatnot.
