Yeah, its probably at least part of the reason why it was one of Cobain's more hated songs. I remember reading that sometimes when Nirvana was playing live, and the crowd would ask for SLTS, they'd lead into it, and then play either Polly or Rape Me (I can't remember which one, TBH).

They once played a concert in Brazil, and the audience were like 98% male who abused and threw stuff at the female support band; so before almost every song Nirvana would play the opening to SLTS just to piss them off.
