T'was a good book about orcs making their own decision and talking or something. Seriously, if a leader were to make a speech 70 pages long, chances are they're not a leader at all.

Yeah. The Great Capitalist, Ayn Rand, she of the giant dollar-sign brooch, actually gave up some of her sacred profits in order to print that speech. Her editor, Bennett Cerf, told her the book was too long and keeping Galt's speech intact would cut into her earnings per copy. She kept the speech, gave up the money. What a collectivist artist!

I just learned that it has been 666 days since i last posted on general before today.

I learned just a piece of what christianity is really about.

so what is it really about?

There really is no way to convey this in print but I'll try my best:
I was at the Bands of America Grand Nationals Championship in Indianapolis this past weekend and I had signed up to go to a leadership workshop given by Dr. Tim Lautenheiser. At one point he told us this story of how he was going down the street when he saw two homeless persons, one of whom was missing a leg, sitting on the sidewalk. The one who was not missing a leg comes up to him and tells him that his friend is a war vet who is out of work and asks for money to buy coffee for his friend. Well Dr. Tim gives him five dollars and says that he can buy a cup for his friend and himself. Well Dr. Tim follows him into this service station and he sees the guy use the five to get a coffee and a bagel and then a cup of water. He sees the homeless man outside and he assumes that they guy will keep the coffee and bagel for himself but actually he gives them to his friend and keeps the water for himself. Dr. Tim wanted to give the guys enough money to buy a hotel room but when he comes back to the spot he finds that they are both allready gone.

Though this was a secular workshop this really struck me in a religious sort of way. Christianity or religion in general isn't about doctrine or what you eat or which way you pray or what saints you have etc. It isn't about living a life so you won't go to hell or do get to heaven. By giving not because you want to avoid hell/the bible says so. The real joy of christianity is living a life of giving and kindness and the happyness and fullness of life that will return from that. You give a guy five dollars and get a more touching experience than money could ever pay for. People shouldn't be christians to go to heaven or not go to hell. they should be christians because it gives them a fulfilling life. That is what I learned.

I learned that, for the 3rd day in a row, I forgot to fix the light in my kitchen it while there was enough daylight to see what I was doing. I can't fix it while the light is on because I'm afraid I'll electrocute myself and I can't fix it with the light off because it's too dark to see anything.
