Now I'm looking forward to 2012

Postby Jingoist Hippostan » Fri Nov 05, 2010 1:07 pm

So I was reading about what's actually supposed to happen in 2012, out of curiosity. Wikipedia gave me little information, I found a few websites that gave some. While they were all, unsurprisingly, filled with new-age babbling about the fifth element and indigo children, I'm guessing they're reliable as far as Mayan prophecy information goes.

Yeah, so apparently in addition to the shitton of natural disasters everyone hears about, there's supposed to be something that makes people choose between staying on Earth and a path away from Earth that seems "alluring, but in the end leads to oblivion."

But here's the awesome part. Apparently this is what the people who stay on Earth have happen to them:

-Massive genetic mutations (cool ones)
-A massive expansion in consciousness (Including being able to fricken manipulate energy with our minds)
-Dimensional shifts. Yeah. Dimensional shifts.
-COMPLETE CESSATION OF ALL LINEAR TIME (But it'll be cool, since our consciousnesses are metaphysical tanks by now)

...Great, now I'm kind of hoping that this stuff isn't bullshit.
I am a communist and a Nazi.

The fifth element? What does that mean?
I assume they aren't talking of boron.

You can probably get it on netflix.

Also, is there anything we're supposed to be discussing here?

What have you got against boron, huh? Huh? Just because it doesn't make shiny crystals like beryllium or ... or ... form the basis for life, like carbon, just because it's a metalloid and not a metal ... ooh, look at me, I'm iron, I'm a metal, la la la la ... *sniff* Where would your plant cell walls be without it, huh? And your semiconductors? Try semiconducting without boron! Yeah, and try making ceramics and glass that don't explode from thermal shock, sending a cloud of razor-sharp shards flying through the air!

Well, there's ... no, wait ... we could ... or how about ... Dang. Nope, nothing to see (except my boron rant).

I suspect that there will be a lot of people that will sell everything they own and max every credit card they can get their hands on. 2013 will suck for some ;)

Oh please, everyone knows that metals pwn metalloids.
Never mind the fact that they helped to shape modern technologies, being a silicon dopant, part of a hard drive magnet, and something to do with nuclear things that I'm blanking out on.

I understand why falun gong hates mixed people. They are just like metalloids: not metals or non-metals.
*note* That was just a joke. I do not like falun gong at all, because I myself am hapa, as we call it in Hawaii.

Unobtainium is the Fifth Element (not love, that doesn't exist)
And there's plenty of boron laying around abduction/landing/crop circle sites. It's a nuclear inhibitor or something and UFO's often land to fix leaks. Those designs are usually manifest owners manuals of their vehicles (yes, sometimes they buy foreign)
