I've began rewatching the show The People vs OJ Simpson.

It's created by those who made American Horror Story (which I don't care for), and is an amazing TV show, even despite the fact that Cuba Gooding Jr doesn't play an entirely accurate OJ.

Is this thing a docu-drama? Hope not.

Saw this shit movie from 1965 recently . Starred Nick Adams as "Young Dillinger" and historical accuracy is the first casualty of the film. Hated it. POS

It's a drama, but I wouldn't say a docu-drama. It's very good and I highly recommend that you watch it.

In 1970, the Buffalo Bills fumbled a late game pass, and lost the game.
As a result of this poor performance, the Bills got an extra pick in the NFL draft, that they used to pick OJ Simpson.
OJ became a star player in their lineup, and became so valuable that the Bills were able to trade him years later for a bunch of NFL draft picks.
They traded him to the San Francisco 49ers, allowing OJ to move back to California.
OJ then met Nicole Brown as a result.
The murder happened, OJs defence team included one R. Kardashian, which gave that family their first exposure to TV fame.
The televised trial spurred the development of "reality tv" in the USA.
Which later led to the development of the reality tv series "the apprentice", giving a large amount of fame to one of the persons involved.

Thus, one mishandled American sportball in 1970, directly led to the rise of the Kardashians as pop culture phenomena and president trump.

Some real "butterfly effect" stuff, no ?

I wrote about the mess of a trial he went through during my Criminal Justice course, as we had to write a paper, and I wrote about things which can damage the trial process. I don't think anyone deserves to have their trial turned into a spectacle, especially with the risk of someone being publicly branded with a crime but not officially prosecuted. It's unlikely that his circumstances line up with said hypothetical, but his situation was unfortunate nonetheless.

It was completely and singularly race-related, and anyone with a grain of knowledge on the case will attest to that.

It was 90s America. It was in the aftermath of the Rodney King incident and the subsequent LA riots, and the jury on OJs case was made up mostly of blacks. Their verdict was essentially revenge.

Lived through it, he wasn't freed on race. Piss poor prosecution who opened up holes, excellent defense who widened those holes, and created enough distraction where voting not guilty WAS a reasonable choice. If you want to go the celebrity or classist route you have a much better chance of being closer to the truth

The LAPD fucked up the chain of custody, making the evidence shakier than it would be.

True, but anyone with half a brain would take one look at the evidence at say "he definitely did it".

We get that clearly the melanated one did it because he was melanated, but there are legal procedures we still have to go through, and according to those, there was enough doubt to return a not guilty verdict.

Simpson's murder trial started before I was born, so I am not overly familiar with the details of it, but alt-right, soy-hate boner soy-salesman, nut case and former InfoWars co-host, Paul Joseph Watson, seems to believe that his acquisition was race related. I don't know the details of why he was aquitted, but thanks to Paul alone, I'm pretty sure it wasn't race related.
