The Marxist atheist Keynesian Europhile economics professor challenged his students with this question. Would Brexit be good for the economy? A student bravely replied, "Yes, it would!"

"Of course", replied the professor.

"Why are you acting like how the Nazis treated Jewish physicists?"

The professor stood back, perplexed.

"Not only are my opponents like Nazis, but I am like Albert Einstein," said the fucking idiot proudly.

Then half the people in the room stood up and started clapping.

And that fucking idiot was Michael Gove.

Yes. It is.

The amount of flippant posts I make here aside, in serious commentary you can't compare people to the Nazis unless they're actually behaving like the Nazis, for the same, or similar, reason the Nazis behaved in that way. I don't care which side of the debate has done it. Leave has done it a lot anyway -- the comparisons are obvious (if facile and fatuous) but so does Remain.

None of the main figures of the Remain campaign, sure. But the main figures of the Leave campaign are unhinged: they know if they lose they're done for anyway, so it hardly matters. Remain has an image to preserve for after it wins the referendum.

Immigration is important and the economy is important but the EU is a relatively minor influence on both.

I'd though have to add in that regarding non-EU-migration, the UK has far lower numbers than Germany or France, and even Sweden ... and that is due to the opt-out the UK has from Schengen.
