How is boxing "state-sanctioned"? Besides, boxing will still exist irrespective of whether it is legal or illegal; the only difference is that boxing will become more illicit, and, consequently, more dangerous.

Another goal of Ice Hockey is to play defense and take the puck away from your opposition, which includes hitting into your opponent to do so. You're pretty much never going to avoid contact in it.

And yes there fucking is contact in European leagues.

Boxers know the risk. Nobody makes anyone box. I of course dislike it when anyone is hurt, in any sport, but they know the risks.
