My view, based on my experience with nudist activities, is that while the human body (clothed or nude) is certainly "sexual", that doesn't mean that every encounter with a human body must be seen in a sexual way. Context matters.

Going to a nude beach doesn't generally lead to orgies, and it is one of the least sexual experiences I can think of. It's not that people cease to exist as sexual beings -- women still look good to me -- but the context is simply not a sexy one. It's not about sex.

When it comes to public nudity, I think that it would be better to base laws on hygiene rather than the nudity itself. So, I would not want to see nude people in subways, where it is too crowded, or cooking food at restaurants, but in situations where there is little scientific reason for concern, nudity should not be illegal. If no one is causing you harm, you have no cause for complaint.

And feeling disgust is not a form of harm. That's your problem.

But having it on your tool shelf doesn't mean you're currently engaging in the act of hammering nails. I'm part of American Society™ and the only one of those things I have a problem with is shitting in public, and even then if it wasn't a health risk I would probably grudgingly stand up for it.
