I'm not particularly fond of Hillary, but it's clear that they're gonna try to make a big stink about everything they can in her past. Her "baggage", as Marco Rubio (I think it was) said recently.

Notice also how they've given interviews in the recent past where they use the phrase "the Obama-Clinton foreign policy." They're so transparently trying to tie her down to Obama, who their base already viciously hates. Their strategists and consultants must be telling them that if you link her permanently to Obama, then people will be conditioned to have negativity associated with her.

Obama's foreign policy will mainly be remembered as ending the War in Iraq and killing Bin Laden, that can only be a boost for Hillary.

To the right-wing base, any mention of Obama at all is immediately associated negatively. They shut off their thinking caps at any mention of him, certainly ones in a positive context.

Also, there's nothing inherently bad about international trade agreements.

Not all, but many.

He'll be remembered as:
- The guy who wasn't born in America
- The guy who created tensions with Israel
- The guy who didn't kill Assad
- The guy who didn't respond to Putin with military action
- That guy, named Obama (he sucks)

Among other things that he'll be associated with forever.

Clinton has a huge downside. Like raising taxes, furthering a welfare state, taking guns from the people and introducing new laws. Vote Libertarian people.
Gary Johnson
Ron Paul
Rand Paul

Is it so hard to think. Vote for th3se guys, not Obama or Clinton.

you cant vote for rand paul in the democratic primary.

The right-wing base is irrelevant, and they would never vote for Hillary regardless of what campaigns against her say. The concern in most elections is the swing voters, who are the sizable plurality.

Ron Paul actually opposes them

But of course, Rand Paul doesn't

Besides that, though, if Hillary wins the primary, I won't vote. I'm not going to play good cop/bad cop with the ruling class. Clinton does not represent my interests, or the interests of the vast majority of the country, she represents the interests of the very wealthy, she represents maximizing their profits above all else, at the cost of our livelihood and dignity.

I don't know who,

but "we were broke when we left the White House". The photo op with "everyday folks" that all turned out to be Democratic staffers and activists, Chelsea Clintons "symbolic" quote, and dealings with Saudi Arabia. Not to mention Hillaries attempts to paint herself as just a normal gal, that falls utterly flat, and lack of substantiality in Foreign Policy when it was her Job, republicans don't need to make stuff up. And for me it's the opposite. I would gladly vote for a qualified Democrat, problem is the baggage known as the Democratic Party.

Ben Carson!! or perhaps the ghost of Ike.( Just Joking)
Dr. Ben Carson – Could He Be Our President in 2016?

Revered for his honesty, integrity, and frankness, Dr. Ben Carson has sparked an independent movement to draft him as the Republican nominee in 2016.

From the very beginning, Dr. Carson has said he will run for president only if he feels that God is calling him to do it.

Should Ben Carson Run in 2016? Vote Now – Click Here

Dr. Carson rose to political prominence last year after speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast.

In that address, Dr. Carson spoke of his disdain for political correctness and his anxiety about the moral decay in America, and confronted the issue of debt and our fiscal policy — then he took on Obamacare.

As President Obama watched from just a few feet away, Dr. Carson revealed his plan for health insurance for all. In less than two minutes he outlined his common-sense approach to health savings accounts — providing health coverage for all Americans without government intervention.

The media has been buzzing ever since.

Commentators from Rush Limbaugh to Sean Hannity praised the speech as “speaking truth to power.”

A Wall Street Journal op-ed titled “Ben Carson for President” said that Dr. Carson “may not be politically correct, but he’s closer to correct than we’ve heard in years.”

The former Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon has become an in-demand commentator. His latest book, “One Nation,” has become an instant No. 1 New York Times best-seller

Dr. Ben Carson was born in Detroit, Michigan. His parents divorced when he was 8 years old. He says he struggled in school for many years, but that changed when he discovered a love for reading.

He went on to attend Yale University and then earned his medical degree at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Carson was a professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and pediatrics, and the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He made national headlines in 1987 when he led a 70-member surgical team and successfully separated conjoined twins.

He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush in 2008.

Politically, Dr. Carson says he’s an independent.

He also says, he “doesn’t care” who supports him as long as he has the support of God.

But, as Dr. Carson continues to speak about personal responsibility, the value of education, and the dangers posed by political correctness to freedom of expression, he is picking up support across the country from American voters who have grown frustrated with the current direction of this nation.

Dr. Carson warns of the political correct “police” and “media bullies” who are drowning out conservative views from the public square.

He says secularism is rising and Christians are suffering persecution.

His mission is to restore America to the ideals of the Founding Fathers.

Newsmax, one of America’s most influential online news media outlets, is conducting an urgent online poll asking Americans about Dr. Ben Carson and other leading GOP candidates like Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush. You can vote in this poll by Clicking Here Now.

muh liberty

Cleveland's government never endorsed slavery, but he never did anything to oppose it either (actually, he took office after the emancipation, whereas he was indifferent to the current plight), if you are looking for a failing. He did throw support over to the Native Americans by reforming land grants on an individual basis, however.

To Coldwater:

I found this letter to Cleveland by American anarcho-individualist Lysander Spooner online, which, Spooner being a huge influential predecessor to libertarianism, very interesting. Whether or not Spooner influenced Cleveland could be debated, but it is of merit: http://lysanderspooner.org/LetterToGroverCleveland.htm

Cleveland was an assimilationist on immigration, but he did condemn the Chinese Exclusion Act (though he did somewhat strengthen it, and by no means am I a supporter of it): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grover_Cle ... mmigration

Ahh Spooner, one of my favorite figures in American history. I don't know how much Spooner influenced him, as Spooner eventually became more of a left-wing libertarian after some years, and after competing with the US post office.

Well I suppose you'd first have to prove Marriage and Abortion are "natural rights"

I'm not going to derail this thread with a debate about natural rights, but if we are equating these with negative liberties than it definitely are the actions of Republicans that are alienating these rights instead of upholding them. The Dems do the same for different ones, and both parties do it out of the justification it is for the general good.

No, well I'd say that Cleveland was a major utilitarian in his justification for liberalism. It's not different than much of the exclusionary laws we have today, just more overt in it's racist nature.

The irony of Spooner's dilemma was that the Post Office was encrypted into the US constitution, out of everything. I believe he later attacked the constitution for not support natural rights but merely using it as political clout.

Those are not natural rights.

Forced to choose between the Democrats and Republicans, I go with Democrats. They don't condemn me and don't act insane (with the exception of the progressive caucus.)

The Republicans are center-right. The Democrats are center-left.

You're making it one dimensional. The Democrats are a big tent centre party, the Republicans are right wing.
