Friend, I did read the entire post. I'm telling you that 13 year olds are also valid feminists, and until you're here for ALL women* (including the tumblr girls*) you aren't here for anyone.

A feminist is someone who wants to bring equality for both sexes not to make women superior or to hate men.

I respect women. I don't respect people who act like feminism is bringing superiority to women rather than equality to both them and men.

Words become corrupted over time. Liberal used to describe an advocate of the free market and individualism.

When we think of Capitalist, some of us may picture a well dressed fat man with a top hat and a cigar.

"Communist" may remind many of a man in a Soviet uniform.

It's not exclusive to Feminism. The most extreme examples of an ideology are the most visible.

HetRio read it, but you don't like some feminists, so you must just be repeating what misogynists are telling you. :p

HetRio also has his own bias which will oppose anyone who has criticism of feminism. The reality is Tumblr has become a stereotype of feminism to the point that it's become the image of the longer f-word.

The logic behind that is 100% true. I the word "Feminism" has always been frowned upon by the majority of people, since the belief of full equality for men and women was deemed as making men "weaker".

I always find it amusing that the people who complain most about 'radical feminists' never seem to be able to actually name any of them, nor quote anything they actually said. We're supposed to believe that they exist, are numerous and powerful within feminism, but are also completely silent and unknown.

Yes, it's a dirty word. It's a dirty word because modern Feminism (by name) is the belief that women are superior to men. Have you seen the video where feminist assholes are yelling and screaming to interrupt a men's rights discussion at a university in the United States? It's ridiculous.

The radical feminists are just people who make the occasional post on Tumblr or Facebook, mostly.

Exactly and some how they have caused people to view feminists as these radical man haters. Well not really some how. There's a reason and it has to do with the actual name of feminism.

Usually, when people immediately (based on a name) don't feel like they can be apart of an organization or movement they tend to seen the worst of it.

Feminism- Femini- Feminine.

The same of feminism being derived from the word feminine was not to exclude men from the feminist movement but because in order to make the genders equal we had to raise the rights of women since they were less than men. That name has stuck which makes men still feel excluded along with the fact that throughout history pretty much only women have been depicted as the face of feminism.

Orthodoxy of feminism?

Liberation, the search for societal dignity, the ability to choose with bodily sovreignity, and the means to reach a consensus where all are societally equal.

That's really all there is to it, and I do support all of these ideals.

Edit: This thread is NOT about whether you agree with feminists, if feminists are right or wrong, and in no way trying to put down women. This thread is simply about whether you believe feminism is a dirty word or not and why and what is causing people to view feminism in a bad way. Please read the OP carefully to avoid any misunderstandings.
