Now the area will have fewer jobs, the people will essentially be stuck in welfare, and their situation just gets worse from here on. This could've been avoided if there weren't any thugs running around stealing merchandise, starting fires, and firing weapons. The protests were suppose to be peaceful, not violent at all. Their voice would've been heard either way considering how the conflict had been escalating on the news. Nobody will win from this situation, and the law enforcement will only grow larger as it will need to prepare for future riots such as Ferguson's case.
Yeah, the cops will probably crack down on them, but that'll just convince a few more of the wavering of the necessity of revolution. Is there a cost to breaking things? Yes. But there's also a purpose.
That purpose isn't being fulfilled in Ferguson. It won't be fulfilled anywhere actually. This wasn't a cry for revolution, this was pure anarchy caused by a bunch of unruly punks who took advantage of a protest created by their own people. The thugs responsible for this event are perhaps worse than the cops who oppressed these neighborhoods to begin with. If there was a purpose to this protest, it is lost.
