The problem with 1) is the problem that comes of all these attempts to ensure tight and logical definitions (this goes for the "atheism vs agnosticism" thing as well), in that people's concepts of various words depends vastly on dialect, style of speech, the way they grew up, mother tongue, and all sorts of other factors. So, for example, "male" and "female" refer largely to sex rather than gender, and I'd rarely - if ever - use them to refer to humans in the first place. On the other hand, "man" and "woman" - again, speaking for myself - refer solely to human beings, and also refer to a person's gender. That is my interpretation of those words. On the other hand, you clearly have a very different understanding of those words - you've already talked about the Spanish/Portuguese interpretation of them.
