Well considering Atheists believe there is no god¹, and that there is no afterlife², which in fact are beliefs, that means it is technically a 'Religion'.

This is, frankly, dumb, and stretches the word 'religion' the point of meaninglessness, since it means everyone on the planet is actually a member of thousands, possibly millions of religions.

Off the top of my head I am apparently a member of:

The Religion of Gravity, the Religion of Electricity, the Religion of Internal Combustion Engines, the Religion of Atheism, the Religion of Atoothfairyism, the Religion of Aleprechaunism, the Religion of Radio Waves, the Religion of Light, the Religion of Ice Cream Flavors, the Religion of Music, the Religion of Video Games, the Religion of Computers, the Religion of Colors, the Religion of Sex, the Religion of Internet, the Religion of Water, the Religion of Astronomy, the Religion of Science...and countless others.

I mean, after all, I have "beliefs" about all of those things, QED all of those things constitute their own religions.

I saw that there was an atheist discussion thread that hasn't been posted on for a year or so.
So I decided to make a new one. This is not about any particular topic, it's just a general discussion area for nonreligious folk and especially atheists, however, there is nothing stopping religious people from commenting here too.

Astarte any topic you want, it's all up to you.
But I'd like to start with a topic concerning atheists:

Are Atheists a minority that is stigmatized and discriminated against?
Are we an oppressed minority?

1. No, I don't believe so. Just a stereotype here or there. It doesn't bother me at all.
2. Nope, religious tolerance is a thing, even if you believe in lack of religion. That's just how it works.

Because you're making a leap of faith.

No I'm not. It's a hypothesis that can be changed at any given time, so I can land wherever I want and still be correct. In theism, you have a strict set of rules in what "god" is and how to worship. In Atheism, scientific advancements change day to day so I can adjust my opinion based off of that.
