Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions.

At least, in my experience at least.

Nowadays everything under the sun has been discussed at least several hundred thousand times on the internet. Comedy websites are running out of original things to say. Everyone is running out of original things to say. Man... it's depressing.

Actually in some ways this ^ Goverment cracking down on it has been bad. But you've seen good come out of it as well, plus better moderation on forums and message boards since the inception of the internet has reduced the sales of brain bleach.

Know where that's from? Ecclesiastes. A book written in the 3rd or 4th century BCE. People have been bitching that things have been going down hill compared to the past since the invention of bitching. Everything is, amazingly, still around, and we haven't run out of new ideas yet, so seriously, just get over it and stop acting like the future is bleak and empty.

The future is bleak and empty. What people forget is that the past was pretty bleak and empty too. Everything sucks just as much as everything else.

It isn't nihilism. The nihilist says there are no values. I say that there are, but no one and nothing ever lives up to them.
It is a positive way to look at things. We are all failures, and always have been, so things can't get any worse. They won't get any better, either, but at least we've got a steady strain of hideous disappointment to look forward to.
