Mods Abusing Their Power?

I am not sure about you, but I have felt that Mods have been abusing their powers in many areas. I feel that there is too much left to the discretion of certain Mods, rather than a uniform set of rules, which is plenty of room for abuse and corruption. Please, explain your thoughts, what your criteria is to be a Mod, what the rules should be, and what areas a Mod should have jurisdiction over. Nobody should feel that Mods are abusing their power, never, not even sometimes.

You can't make everyone happy - ever. Just like politics. Your hopes of "nobody should feel that Mods are abusing their power" will never come to fruition.

2. Please be specific. The charge of us abusing our power is very serious and will be dealt with, but we need actual examples and not a vague post implying.

These threads appear every month or so and they don't help and are pretty annoying.
They're just trying to do their job and when they do make a mistake, they correct it.

Mods are chosen by Max Berry because he can trust him, Mods are some what the Police of NS, they enforce the rules, I would trust them with my life.

Much like this. I have seen them apply force only when needed, and their has never been such a thing as an "unjustly deleted player" or no one has ever been banned that hasn't deserved it. When I was banned for a day, I understood why, and corrected my behavior.

Some people misunderstand, overreact, or have persecution complexes. You can't please everyon all the time. If you don't like the mods, or the environment here, I would suggest finding one of the millions of other forums on the internet. Most I've been to have been utter shit compared to NS, where the mods are quite reasonable most of the time.

This. You can't make everybody happy, and they should act in the best interests for both website and users. Have you seen a Moderator take a hefty bribe from some kind of Corporation to be silent about certain issues? Have you seen a Moderator gun down opposition without giving a good reason? I just don't think you realise that they do care about the users, but primarily need to care about the continued survival of NationStates.

The mods deal with corrupt mods if they are found guilty then if all-else fails websit administration overrules all.

From what I have seen, Mods are pretty fair. They look at things objectively, and have pretty lenient sentencing when dealing with problems. I know that I have spammed and whatnot, and yet I have only one warning, to my knowledge, in my history on NS. They are pretty fair and fun people, and will deal with things as they think is best.

And besides, we don't pay for the site. We are here by privileged. The Mods are given power by Maximus Barrius, and therefore have the Barry-given right to judge in the sites best interest. Given that they sometimes might make a mistake, its not often. If you don't like not having mods with total judicial power(checked by other mods and the rest of NS), then perhaps you should found your own site, mmkay?

I have never seen this directly. I've noticed ALOT of nations getting banned, for reasons unknown to me, but they probably had a reason. There are more bans on here than I hoped necessary, but this being proof to abuse of power? Absolutely not.
