The simplest reason is that, per the Terms and Conditions of the site that you agreed to when creating your nation ...
When you submit content to NationStates.net, you grant the site and its administrator(s) a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to reproduce, distribute, transmit, and publicly display such content.

In addition, your public posts are part of multiple conversations. Removing them impacts other players and makes threads harder to follow, particularly when your posts were quoted by others. Even if we did permit removing your own posts, your words and nation name would remain out there in any quoted material. We're not remotely interested in checking out 20,989,653 posts to see where yours might have been quoted. So, our long term policy is to NOT delete nations or their post history.
