New Forum Moderators

Postby Sedgistan » Wed Mar 09, 2016 2:16 pm

We're pleased to welcome two new additions to the moderator team: Kyrusia and Wrapper.

Kyrusia has served as a Roleplay Mentor since 2014, and has been specifically chosen to maximise the confusion between existing mod "Kryo" and "Kyru".

Wrapper was successfully extricated from the General Assembly for long enough to promote him, before dropping him back, armed solely with a shiny badge, with the instructions to "sort out" the festering snakepit. We wish him luck.

Congrats to Kyrusia and Wrapper!
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

What qualifies a person with one GA resolution to moderate the GA forum?

Ardchoille did much of the moderating in the GA for years, and as far as I'm aware, never authored a GA resolution. I don't think Hack did either. A person's suitability to becoming a WA-focused mod isn't based on the number of proposals they've passed, the same way we wouldn't judge a roleplay-focused moderator on the number of RPs they've participated in, and so on.

Is Ard retiring?

What is it based on then? Wrapper has been on these forums for all of two years.

Ardchoille isn't retiring. She's had various RL matters that have kept her away from NS for several months.

Two years is actually a long time to spend on an online game, even if the site has been around for over a decade. It's enough to judge someone's suitability as well as it's possible to do. Suitability to be a moderator is based on a whole load of factors, including activity, personality, knowledge of the rules, humour and many other things.

How about Mall? He hasn't posted in the GA since February 20th. His pick was nearly as random, especially given that he's primarily a gameplayer.

He's currently busy with academic studies. He is around but not as much as he was previously.

Not at all random, and no, not democratic, and no, not transparent.

Tell you what: you pick the mods on your site whatever way you want to. Names out of a hat. Your buddy who you've known since last week. Train a chicken to peck a list of people at random.
