There is currently nothing wrong with NationStates there is no point of a new age limit, most people on the internet are in their twenties, and I believe this forum will accomplish nothing. I just cant see people 30+ on the internet because those are usually the bearded people who go in workshops and make toys for Christmas. - {JK}

Ur... I get that you mean well, and while moderation will not be raising/lowering the age limit, there's no harm in letting folks discuss the subject.

Not my problem. There are countless other places where they can discuss their opinions. I'm not here to be charitable.

That would involve finding some other places. A blanket message of "Piss off, you bastards" is, in my eyes, going to result, quite simply, in an aggressive defence of the self... which does not lend itself well to introspection (and thus evolution of the attributes that make you want to get rid of them). This is especially true if they end up in actual echo-chambers. What, then, was the point? We return to the shortsighted comment.

I'll repeat the why bit... it's very difficult to sustain a conversation when only one party adds much to it. Yes, knowing which parts are disagreed with is helpful. No, what mattered more was why.

There's lots of us older than you. LOTS. Anyone who thinks all of NS (or even all of NSG) is under 30 simply hasn't been paying attention. Most of us don't post selfies in the pic threads. Many of us don't bother with the never-ending "How old are you" polls. But we're here, and we're active.

Seriously, though, it's easy to spot the young teenager (maturity does of course play into it), but it's difficult to distinguish between a 20-year-old and a... er... not-quite-50-year-old (didn't say Bears Armed is much older, heh), unless you reference stuff like Usenet, "a dingo ate my baby", Al Haig's rules of succession, Mark Spitz's mustache, etc. Even then, there are a lot in the 30-something crowd, and some even younger, who actually know what you're talking about.

The age gap is not a bad thing. In fact, a lot of times, sharing sites like this with people of all ages makes this old goat feel younger, not older.

And just to stay on topic peripherally... 13 is fine but please don't even think of an upper limit. Thanks.

This report made me think. Why is there an age limit? Is it necessary?

I'm 16 and turning 17 in less than a month. So the 13+ limit clearly doesn't apply to me. Yet, I feel it still affects me. 12 years old doesn't seem that long ago. In fact, that's about the time when everything started speeding up for me, probably because of puberty I guess.

Like most people that age, I wasn't too mature back then. If I had posted on NSG a few years ago, I would've probably accidentally come across as trollish. My opinions nowadays are more independent, mature, and open to change.

I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any limit. I think there should be one, but gradual instead. People below 13 would need parental permission. There would also be something blocking them from NSG and maybe even more of the forums. And, parents would opt in whether their children could get sex issues or not.

So what say ye, moderators and moderation lurkers?

If anything, the age limit should be raised, not lowered.

I usually skim them. But that's not the point. By making you click the thing that says you read it, they have their ass covered from a legal standpoint.

The 'In English' part is the TL;DR. The legalese part is the long version, which, for a legalese TOS is fairly short.

Then again, this particular TOS does not try to sell your soul to the devil
