He's stepped up from the Donkocrats he's been using through the rest of the thread.

If I may be so bold as to enquire, how does "Ass-o-crats" differ from, say, "Busheviks", to use the favorite term of certain of my favorite BFF posters, and a term which AFAIK has never drawn Moderation sanction?

And if the Democrat Party mascot isn't a jackass, then what exactly is it?

As for "elephant jokes," you won't see any because nobody can make any. There's no one-syllable synonym, and "Republican" isn't a compound that can be separated into roots one of which can be replaced with an elephant reference. And besides, elephants are pachyderms. They have thick skins. So even if anyone came up with an analogous reference, none of us would be likely to whine about it.

Remember that guy who got his head stuck up an elephants anus? That's what a republican is, metaphorically.

And I don't think you want to go trolling in Moderation, even if you're trying to make a point that you can make an elephant-based troll remark about republicans.

If brevity is the soul of wit, T-g doesn't quite rise to the occasion. But to your point, I don't contend that some sufficiently motivated poster can't troll about us Republicans, elephant-based or otherwise. Plenty do so, on a regular, if not continuous, basis. Most of them don't get through the skin of the pachyderm. My point was that nobody is likely to come up with a party designation that is as succinct and to the point as the label in issue, or one that would prompt us Republicans to tattle to Moderation about it. And my questions remain.

This rather influenced my thinking:

Seems to me that you're saying in that post that you're only using the term to be annoying, and regret not using the more annoying one. So I'm telling you to stop being deliberately annoying. I'd have told you the same thing if you'd said, "Yah, four-eyes, you got cooties."

Politically based nicknames have some relevance, and mostly get left alone; it's accepted that neither side of politics loves their opponents and both will exploit what they perceive as weaknesses. You quote "Busheviks"; that's got a political twist (cf Bolsheviks ->Third Party Conference -> the effects of Bush supporters on the Republican party). So if you'd been making a political point, something along the lines of "donk" being a word for a bad poker-player, and the Democrats using a donkey as their symbol, and your view of their economic policies being that they're bluffing from a weak hand, I'd probably have dismissed the complaint.

But when you say you're just doing it to annoy, I tell you to stop. Just the way I tell the kids who USE CAPITALS and LOTS of colours to stop. People get hung up on silly things like that and threads that could be discussions turn into spamfests.

A snarky remark bites me in the ass. Ah well, an ill-chosen word is a fool's messenger. :palm:

No, I wasn't making any such extended metaphor. I was specifically referring to the Dem mascot and expressing my general opinion of Dem policies. As for "Busheviks," I rather doubt that any such involved reasoning went into that term either, but suspect that it's used purely as a term of abuse.

It's probably time to just shoot this thing and leave it in a ditch somewhere. :D

I've used insulting names for BOTH parties, not to be offensive toward anyone on NSG, but because I have genuine problems with both political parties in America.

The only time someone took umbrage at my name for the Republican Party (Repugnicans), I stopped using it when he said he took exception to it. I think that makes a difference between letting namecalling go and getting a card here on NS.

Fair enough, Sarz. And I think we're done here.
