Perhaps Surfing wasn't as desired as the world. I'm more looking for puppets that have a meaning to me in their name. Some were just to have a really fun name, but this one is near and dear to the heart.

A few considerations:
1. Please don't list getting a new name in this thread. There's over at least several hundred thousand names becoming available, and that's a lot of posts.
2. I thought the point of this exercise is to make names available to new players, who try to start a nation and have difficulty coming up with a good name. If existing players simply grab all prior names for no real purpose whatsoever (merely flaunting "Hey, I got this one!"), I don't think that's actually helping to solve the actual problem at all.

I agree to an extent. It's bad form to just snag dozens (or hundreds as that one poster implied). But that's not to say these names should only be for new players. If that were the case, then why announce the name releases to the second? Brand new players certainly aren't going to check the boneyard.

On another note, thanks to the admins for doing this. I managed to grab the name I origianally wanted over eight years ago.

The problem with this idea is that a few people will snatch up as many names they can that are in demand. Basically a small few ruining it for the many. Which is a shame and more than a bit annoying...

There's technically no proof of it, so, unless someone admits to stealing every name, we have to believe people are getting the names they want.

I started with a list of 25 with the idea that I might snag a couple of the less fought-over ones. Nobody's going to get exactly what they want.

I don't see this having a large impact on new players, honestly. Most of the new players I see actually try to create a fictional nation name. Most of the names I've seen snapped up are names that would only be used for roleplay/awesomeness puppets anyway.
