Wait. Would it be a good idea to let some of these names not be allowed.

Examples would be Max Barry and Violet- which are both names that will no doubt be made

See my earlier post about inappropriate names. If people create those, they'll find they get those nations deleted, and a warning attached to their main nation.

As I understand it, neither. You're creating a new nation, it's just using a name that used to be unavailable.

So you don't inherit the age on the forum?

No, as [violet] said.

As mentioned by others, these forums are only two years old, which is well under the five year limit.

In the future, though, it's possible that there will be ex-nations here whose names are re-used. It won't be a problem because the forums, unlike the game, identify accounts by ID number, not name. We may also rename the old nation's forum display name as "(Former) Testlandia" or something.

Yes, young grasshopper, one cannot inherit antiquity, one must be there for it.

Make it much easier to track the name we're after with bookmarking.

Not completely sure what you're after, but the Boneyard does already work like that; e.g.:

http://www.nationstates.net/page=boneya ... n=lordieth

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant, however, if I type the nation name into the form and hit submit, it does not appear in the URL, I just get; http://www.nationstates.net/page=boneyard

I could just create the bookmarks by manually changing the nation name, but it'd be nice to get it in the URL.
There was a signature here. It's gone now.

Such nations as titties, boobies, dickhead, knockers, big boobs, retards, bitch...just immature, childish names.
I, for one, wouldn't like to shout "I'm a titties citizen!

Sounds like a wonderful place to me, but, whatevah

If a released name has its name re-used, and then CTEs due to inactivity, can the owner resurrect the country under standard procedure?

I approve this proposal for the record.

For the record, it's not a proposal. This is actually happening.

Another question people may be wondering is whether there will be a pre-launch name reservation system.

Do you mean the original owner or the re-user? In the case of the former, no. In the case of the latter, yes, at least, I presume so. Can't say for sure, of course.

I fink this is an old nation I created:

•Deleted nation Jennyland
Founded: Antiquity
Last activity: Mon Feb 10 2003
Population: 281 million
Reserved: This name was used by a former nation of significant size.

I'm not sure why I left, I fink the role play wasn't like it is today and I was a bit bored. Then I forgot about NS until 2 weeks ago. :p

I was referring to the new owner. If a released name has its name re-used, and then CTEs due to inactivity, can the new owner resurrect the country under standard procedure?

I take it that it would be a similar hassle to outlaw the use of those names?

They're already outlawed under the obscene clause of the rules. Seriously, let's not complicate stuff. If it's to do with your wee wee or your flowers, don't choose it.

If someone has a mindset like my IRL one, they'll make "The Naked Lands of Titties" as soon as possible to show their friends for a cheap lands. And every 5 years, we'll see "The ____ of Titties" return.

I like this for another reason too, It allows you to research nations that have CTE'd, like their population and stuff. Francos Spain is one that comes to mind that can be researched. (Can't think of others atm)

As I love using puppet nations... this is a dream come true (acts like a real jerk :P).
But seriously, I have been awaiting this so long. Thank you Max Barry and program team, for not being unresponsive like the admins of certian other games (which I will not bother to mention for obvious reasons).
