Glad to see this get off of the ground, it looks as if it will be a very productive Symposium that will produce substantive discussion on Women in NS. Looking forward to it!

Any chance of archiving these for those unable to attend?

Also, I attempted to register as a diplomat some time ago, but the application appears to have been accidentally mislaid (I suppose timing may have been at issue also :p ).

Feel free to login and bump your diplomatic thread. :)

I've requested that the admins make the IRC Panel thread viewable by guests, but I'm not an admin there, so I have zero say over security settings and the like, so ... we'll see? If there's enough interest, I could also cross-post them here ...

It seems like the topic is important enough to warrant its own sticky thread here, but that's just one opinion (and I'm not looking to add more work for you to do!). Thanks for organizing this!

I can sticky it, but I didn't want to be all "Look at the mod, stickying her own stuff." I'm happy to make a new thread and sticky it, but I don't know that I should make that decision myself.

Just get someone else (or a pupppet) to make the thread, and graciously accept their request of you stickying it :P
1 John 2:1-2 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father - Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

Matthew 5:43-44 You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Sorry, but I'm not seeing it as sticky-worthy. We don't sticky other events (e.g. Defender Awards) - we prefer to avoid having the top of the forum clogged up. There's a few key threads there, plus a very occasional important announcement (e.g. the Predator thread), but that's it. Otherwise, threads rise/fall on how interested people are in them.

About what I thought, but thanks for the confirmation, Sedge. I'll try to remember to repost the panels in here too (with links to the Euro thread if anyone wants to follow the discussion there).

Otherwise, the first panel is starting up in about 15 minutes, if anyone wants to join in. Details on the full schedule (and where to go for the panels) are in this lovely dispatch - or a page or so back in this thread. Hope to see you there!

It is a shame the logs of the discussion are no longer posted here. It was an interesting and productive discussion. As someone who is not welcome in Europeia it would be good to be able to follow this.

I had initially posted the first panel discussion here, but as someone mentioned to me after the fact, it was arguably in violation of the OSRS due to discussions (and naming names) of individual players that had engaged in rule breaking behavior on off-sites and the like. We weren't sure where things would fall, relevant to this, and I didn't want to either (a) inadvertently get other people in trouble on NS because of things they said on IRC, or (b) get myself in trouble for posting said logs. When I have more time, I might/hopefully be able to edit out some of those parts, and implement a [REDACTED] sort of bits here and there, but I'm already a day behind on formatting the panel transcripts, so ... that might take a bit longer. I'm also not sure if linking to off-site logs (i.e. if I upload them to Google Docs or PasteBin or something) would be the same as posting here, but I'll try to raise that query with my colleagues later.

I believe QuietDad has the IRC logs up on his webspace somewhere. I'd guess he'd be willing to share those links if you want to send him a telegram, but I'll nudge him accordingly so he knows to expect a wave of TGs on the subject. :P

No problem, Ananke!

BTW, I'll edit this in above, but the Women & RP Panel has been set for tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm EDT/7pm BST. We've got some great RPers lined up to chat about what it's like for female players in the wild world of NationStates RP, so it should be a great discussion!

Republic of Europeia statement on the coup d'état in Osiris

19th of April, 2016

The Republic of Europeia does not recognize the Transitional Government of Osiris as legitimate. We neither condone nor tolerate the coup d’état perpetrated in Osiris against its democratically elected government. Actions including the illegal expulsion of the elected Delegate, the ordering of forum administrators to leave without cause, and the banning of citizens that voice opposition to the illegitimate government are just a few of the reasons that Europeia is taking a firm stance in opposition to the unlawful rule of Cormac and Tim Stark.

Hiding behind words like “stability” and “security” does not change the true nature of what has occurred. Having failed to secure power through lawful means, Cormac and his conspirators have chosen to take it by force, attempting to legitimize their actions through coercion, intimidation, and misinformation. These actions must be called what they are: bald opportunism, unrestrained ambition, and a completely inexcusable coup d’état.

Europeia is committing all available military and diplomatic resources and is cooperating with a broad coalition of allies and partners across all ideologies to remove the usurpers and restore the rule of law in Osiris. We will continue to do so, without exception, until this end is met.

Signed,

Trinnien, President of Europeia
Calvin Coolidge, Vice President of Europeia
Kraketopia, Minister of Foreign Affairs
Writinglegend, Grand Admiral of the Europeian Republican Navy
HEM, Founder and Supreme Chancellor
Lethen, Supreme Chancellor
Mousebumples, Vice Chancellor and World Assembly Delegate

Trinnien wrote:and the banning of citizens that voice opposition

For the record, no one has been ejected or banned simply for voicing opposition to the Transitional Government of the Osiris Fraternal Order. Urging the withdrawal of endorsements from the Delegate, particularly without even offering an alternative endorsee for the opposition, is a step way beyond just voicing opposition. They are endangering the security of Osiris, not only in that they are attempting to overthrow the government, but in that they are doing so in such a way that would, if successful, reduce the endorsements of the Delegate without increasing the endorsements of their own alternative. That will leave Osiris open not only to their efforts at aggression, but open to aggression from foreign invading forces.

They have no endorsee to offer to Osirans as an alternative because not a single Guardian has, as yet, joined their aggression, with Ikand joining the Transitional Government and Zaolat remaining neutral, and Revert yet to be reached. So instead they just call for unendorsement, nevermind the danger that poses to Osiris. And this is what Europeia supports. Just so we're clear on that.

As always, I look forward to ejecting and banning the Europeian Republican Navy.

Obviously Atum is the elder god, and Shu and Tefnut are his children. As their grandchild, and a desert dweller, Osiris obviously sees "Jesus Whale" as an affront to everything they and their religion stand for and an immediate threat to the cultural stability of the region. BURN THE HERETIC!!!!

No worries. I have confidence that this will be short-lived, considering the massive interregional coalition currently swelling around AJW and the legitimate government.
