Results of the South Pacific Regional Games

Postby South Pacific Regional Games » Sat Sep 20, 2014 7:45 pm

Closing Ceremony
I South Pacific Regional Games

Hi everyone!
It has been a pleasure to host this event. You have all been fantastic participants and all teams have performed admirably, each winning different challenges and showing that we all have different skills and strengths. We hope this has been a good opportunity to meet people from other regions, to forge new friendships and to have a great time. We will now show you the medals board as it stands, and announce the prizes for all three teams:

TeamGoldSilverBronzeTotal
Chrysanthemum2215
Orchid2035
Rose1315

It is therefore our pleasure to announce that Team Chrysanthemum is the winner of the I South Pacific Regional Games! In reward for their efforts, Team Chrysanthemum will be able to choose a World Factbook Entry for the South Pacific, which Kringalia will display for a week!

We also want to recognise and thank Team Orchid and Team Rose. While there could only be one overall winner, both teams won challenges and gave more than their best during the Regional Games. It was inspiring to see all three teams work together and become closer with each new challenge. We truly hope that you will all keep in touch even after today.

Thank you and see you in the next Regional Games!

Statement on the Conspiracy to Manipulate Our Democratic Process

The Cabinet wishes to express its complete disappointment in the actions of long-term and trusted members of our own community and several citizens of the East Pacific. The conspiracy to manipulate the Coalition's democratic process, by slowly and methodically getting foreigners to apply for citizenship with the intent to form a voting bloc in the November 2014 General Elections, is unacceptable in the South Pacific and in NationStates. It is sad that members of our community would even contemplate this egregious plan, simply because they do not like two members of the Cabinet who were elected openly and fairly.

The Cabinet has initiated recall procedures against Belschaft for his part in devising this conspiracy, and against God-Emperor for his knowledge of it and failure to notify any proper authority. We do not believe anyone who would entertain the conspiracy to manipulate elections should hold the office of Justice on our High Court, nor should they be a member of the Committee for State Security, our central security institution. It is as well disappointing that the Chief Justice would think of using his power to invalidate a treaty for political purposes.

We are also disappointed with several members of the East Pacific's government. Enacting the aforementioned conspiracy would have been a violation of regional sovereignty at the highest levels. We find particularly shocking the leadership role of Todd McCloud, currently a Vizier in the East Pacific, and a former forum administrator and election commissioner of the South Pacific. We hope that the East Pacific will respond in whatever ways are available and appropriate according to their laws. On our part, we have made the collective decision to declare the following individuals persona non grata, and therefore ineligible for citizenship, as a precautionary measure until after the November elections:

  • Todd McCloud
  • British Grand Pacific
  • Southern Yugoslavia
  • Tano
  • Ramaeus
The Cabinet will take further actions as necessary, in coordination with the Committee for State Security and the Assembly. We look forward to the November elections, which will be open, fair and free of fraud, in spite of this disappointing revelation.

Thank you,

The Cabinet of the South Pacific
Chief Justice of the South Pacific
Delegate of the South Pacific (Apr - Dec 2014)

I really hope The East Pacific does not tolerate this type of behavior from it's membership. The citizens of The South Pacific are deeply disappointed by the actions of our own members of government and TEPers who conspired with them in attempt to essentially coup the region.

The People's Republic of Lazarus fully supports The South Pacific in their decision following the uncovering of this terrible scandal.

We trust Kringalia and the rest of our friends in TSP's government to make good decisions for the people, and defend themselves against entryism and internal corruption. We commend the statement released by The Cabinet of The South Pacific, and we renew our pledge to support TSP in any way that they deem necessary as allies.

A strong decision by the cabinet of the South Pacific. I hope that this does not happen again and that the trust once shared between TEP & TSP is not broken forever.

I appreciate this support and gesture of friendship from Lazarus. It is good to know our allies stand with us in times like this.

I am certain that most East Pacificans are honourable and just want to play NationStates and have fun. However, we do find it worrying that knowledge of this reached the highest levels of their government. I have had several conversations with Ramaeus, and not once did he even mention that there had been a plan to manipulate elections. This was a huge breach of trust, and undoubtedly affects the relationship between our two regions.

Regardless of reasoning or emotion at the time, it was hubris on my part. This declaration of PNG is fitting and I take it standing up. I commend TSP for their respect and professionalism; something sorely lacking in my participation in Brave Toaster.

This will ring hollow at this point, but I would like to apologize for my role in Operation Brave Toaster, to Unibot, GR, and to TSP as a whole. As is fitting I suppose, I won't be running for a second term. While my apology is sincere, I don't expect TSP to forgive me, as my actions were inexcusable.
Just some weeb.

This is a tad late in comparison to the others, but I still believe it is necessary.

I would like to extend my deepest apologies to the South Pacific in its entirety for my role in the operation. I accept the consequences and the decision of the Cabinet. I hope one day relations between our regions can return to normal.

Repeal of War Declarations, Election Results

Postby Glen-Rhodes » Wed Nov 26, 2014 3:31 pm

November 26, 2014
Minister: Sandaoguo (Glen-Rhodes)

Assembly Repeals War Declarations Against Gatesvilles & Greater German Reich

On November 25th, 2014, the Assembly of the Coalition repealed two long-standing declarations of war. The first against Gatesville, a long-time enemy of the Coalition. The second against the Greater German Reich, a formerly notorious Nazi region.

The repeal of these war declarations do not mark a shift in current Coalition foreign policy, however. The repeals were undertaken in recognition that the wars were inactive and largely defunct. Anti-fascist operations will likely remain a part of the South Pacific Special Forces' regular operations, as the the new Minister of the Army, CrimsonTideFan, takes his seat in December.

2014 General Election Results

Elections commenced in the Coalition on November 15th, and results were announced by Election Commissioner (and Chief Justice) Gustave Berr on November 25th. The results are as follows:

Delegate and Vice-Delegate:

Arbiter08 and Sandaoguo: 29.12%

Hobbes and QuietDad: 9.37%

Tsunamy and Penguin: 56.25%

Re-open Nominations: 6.25%

Chair of the Assembly:

HEM: 38.23%

Unibot: 55.88%

Re-open Nominations: 5.88%

Minister of Foreign Affairs:

Llamas: 15.62%

Lord Ravenclaw: 62.5%

TAC: 12.5%

Re-open Nominations: 9.37%

Minister of Regional Affairs:

Kris Kringle: 64.51%

Punchwood: 6.45%

southern bellz: 25.8%

Re-open Nominations: 3.22%

Minister of the Army:

CrimsonTideFan: 71.87%

Re-open Nominations: 28.12%

This Cabinet has lots of potential, with capable individuals like Tsu, Uni and Raven in it. Crimson is a relative newcomer, but has an excellent General Corps to back him up, and will do an awesome job. It will be a pleasure to work with them for the next four months.

Tsu ranks up there in the (very-small) list of great TSPers who had never held the Delegacy despite years of service. The only two who still come to mind immediately as belonging to the list would be HEM and the much missed TCT.

Don't you find it a bit early for TSP political commentary?

Not really. All three have been mentioned numerous times previously as "TSP Delegates who weren't" in various capacities by many a senior citizen.

I enjoy the commentary. I don't think anybody thought Bel wasn't a fan of Tsu's candidacy anyways :P It's no secret that Tsu differs greatly from the outgoing administration on things that he cares most about, namely TSP as an Independent power.

I'd word it more along the lines of me and Tsu sharing a greater appreciation and respect for TSP's own traditions and history, and a certain degree of regionalist suspicion of split loyalties and outside interests - we both have always assigned a primacy to TSP that not everyone can match, though Glen has impressed me greatly with his continuing commitment to only one region at a time, even if we're at political loggerheads more often than not.

It's hardly a secret that I was one of many who was pleased to see Tsu run for the Delegacy, and had encouraged him to do so in the past

I'm guessing though that Tsu's "regionalist suspicion of split loyalties and outside interests" would probably compel him to avoid bringing in foreigners to help perpetrate a silent coup against his region.

Which would be where the two of you differ.

Tsrill, Mavenu, etc...? No offense to HEM, but they'd certainly precede him in most people's books.

There were a lot of great players during the Caer/Fudgie era who never saw the seat.
