Enforce Christian Values

A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Category: Moral Decency

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Americum Novum

Description: Dear God-fearing brothers and sisters of the world, there has been an ongoing moral crisis, since founding of this great Assembly, with the spread of all sorts of infidelity as well as a growth in anti-Christian policies in the lawbooks of once-great nations. We must come together to ban and criminalize anti-God practices including but not limited to, homosexuality and sodomy, abortion, fornication, adultery, the presentation of sexual themes in movies and television, Satanism, listening to "rock-and-roll" as well as any other musical manifests of the Devil, bestiality, possession and viewing of pornography, and drug use.

Can mandating a single religion be considered an ideological ban?

Ban on abortion = contradiction
Ban on homosexuality = contradiction
Ban on drug use = contradiction
Ideological ban
Grossly offensive

Repeal "Nuclear Arms Possession Act"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#10
Proposed by: Danasterra

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #10: Nuclear Arms Possession Act (Category: International Security; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: ACKKNOWLEDGING that WA members are some of the most powerful in the world,

REALIZING the destructive power of Nuclear Arms,

REALIZING the duty we have to protect our citizens and the citizens of the world,

CALLS the WA Delegates to Repeal this law and work to create a Worldwide Disarmament for Nuclear Weapons among WA nations.

Approvals: 9 (Samogitias, Demoitia, Vallita, Sylvuanir, The Norwegian Lands, Eeveeville, Hatless Men, Atlantis Kingdoms, Cresenthia)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 85 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 2 days 22 hours

Legislates within a repeal.

Right to Self-Determination
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights
Strength: Strong
Proposed by: The Buckeye

Description: Citizens of the WA deserve the right to choose which government best serves them. Self-determination (the process by which the people of his or her country determines their country’s own statehood and forms their own allegiances and government) for the people in the WA will bring about the following:

1. A generally happier populace.
2. Greater expansion to human rights.
3. More democratic nations.
4. The fall of totalitarian regimes.
5. More of what the people want will be reflected on the world stage do to greater say in government.

Hereby notice that:

1. All decisions that limit the rights of self-determination in government are frowned upon.
2. Any time a people’s self-determination rights are infringed upon it is liable to remove the parent nation from the WA (with a vote of course).
3. Any wrongful accuser is also liable to have a vote of removal.
4. A formal “banishment” proposal will be used to vote upon the removal of nations that do not comply to their citizen’s rights of self-determination; which, in turn, banishes the nation from the WA for infringing upon basic natural rights.
The goal of self-determination is to give the people what they want.
5.In order to banish a country you must be able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the country has infringed upon basic self-determination rights.

Due to the possible past legislation of nations in the WA that may infringe upon this law, this law will come into effect 14 days after being approved. (lets certain nations expand self-determination rights)

~nation and country are used interchangeably

Approvals: 4 (Vallita, Sylvuanir, The Norwegian Lands, Cresenthia)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 90 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 2 days 22 hours

Metagaming/game mechanics (requires vote to remove a member); pretty sure that 14-day timeline is illegal too.

Freedom of Religion
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: KlingonLand

Description: Reaffirm the world's stance on Freedom of Religion, that every man, woman, and child has the right to worship or not worship as they want, without interference from their government or their place of employment or another religion

Approvals: 2 (Cresenthia, Samogitias)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 92 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 2 days 22 hours

The world has no stance on freedom of religion, unfortunately - though apart from punctuation and grammar, nothing overtly illegal here.

Repeal "World Assembly Headquarters"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#8
Proposed by: Roulade

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #8: World Assembly Headquarters (Category: Political Stability; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: How could anyone consider blocking freedoms just to make things easy that appaling.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 94 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 10 hours

Formatting, illegible. Also does not even address the content of the resolution they're repealing; just the stat effect.

That's not how I read it, I read it as, "I want to repeal the NAPA so I can pass a ban on nukes." But if another mod wants to read it the way Kenny's reading it, I'm not going to complain.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: cyrilla_1432083728

Anti-Anime Resolution

A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Category: Moral Decency

Strength: Mild

Proposed by: Cyrilla

Description: For years, anime and manga have been a blight on any country unfortunate enough to have access to them. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed, as anime and manga can have numerous dangerous impacts on a nation.

1. Anime encourages young people to be lazy. The term NEET, meaning "not in education, employment, or training," is used primarily by anime/manga otaku (fans), who hold it as a glorious lifestyle. Obviously this lack of productivity is harmful to a nation economically, and can lead to personal problem such as a lack of social skills and obesity. Several anime/manga have depicted NEET characters in a positive light, further justifying this lifestyle to fans.

2. Anime encourages unhealthy and unhygienic living. One need only to go to an anime convention to see it. Most of the people present are overweight, smell as if they haven't showered in a long time, or both. Most anime fans will binge watch a particular series if it has already ended, and most series are at or near any multiple of 13 for their episode count, which means hours spent sitting at a screen, staring, not doing any exercise of any sort. Visual novels (a child of anime) help encourage these people to let themselves go, making them believe they can succeed and get a romantic partner regardless of what they are.
Anime encourages social ineptitude. Many anime fans, instead of pursuing real relationships, are encouraged by anime to have a "waifu" or "husbando," an anime character they have romantic feelings for, to substitute a real person. As mentioned prior, anime fans often hide away in their rooms watching anime and not going out into public, preventing social interaction. Visual novels also give them what they feel is a substitute for interaction with people. Anime itself glorifies social ineptitude, with many anime in the "ecchi" and "harem" genres featuring protagonists who are socially inept but still manage to garner the attention of multiple attractive females, creating inaccurate views of reality.

3. Anime encourages sexual perversion. Anime fans often develop strange sexual perversions and fetishes thanks to anime and related material. Fans of the vertical shooter game "Touhou Project" have shown a fetish for armpits thanks to the protagonist's design. Thanks to anime-type material such as the visual novel Monster Girl Quest and the Monster Girl Encyclopedia, "teraphilia," or a fetish for monsters, has come into existence. Hentai (pornographic) anime and manga often features rape, sexual violence, and strange fetishes like tentacles, and borderline bestiality with thinks like "catgirls" and monster girls.
4. Anime encourages pedophilia. "Lolicon" and "lolis" are things often discussed and fantasized about by anime fans. Lolicon is a portmanteau of "Lolita complex," a Japanese expression meaning pedophile attracted to underage girls. The alternate is shotacon, which is the same but with underage boys. Many anime fans call themselves lolicons and masturbate to lolicon anime and manga under the assumption that it isn't child porn. Many non-hentai anime even feature children with erotic undertones. The popular Monogatari franchise is an example; they started with one "loli" character, and her popularity led to them introducing more similar characters and increasing the sexual undertones surrounding those characters.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 94 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 2 hours

Does nothing. Also littered with RL violations.

Plus, I'd say this falls under grossly offensive.

Not seeing what this actually does.

Reading slightly more generously than this thread tends to, it is using the imperative voice to command WA nations to save dying forms of music; increase their investments in music education; and have music festivals in their respective jurisdictions. And to wish for the fulfillment of the vote in favor of the resolution itself. If the author had added some exclamation points, this might have been slightly clearer.

Maybe it's not a very well-written resolution, but it's not illegal or silly.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL

As this "proposal" has its own thread, I shall continue "discussion" of it there.

It does not contain a specific right to free exercise of religion, no. Though it does entitle members of any religion to buy a frozen yogurt, no matter how bigoted the shop owner is.
