I guess in general a close country would be something like Cuba but theocratic, though my Constitution is heavily based on China's and Vietnam's (and my economy is supposed to be most similar to Vietnam's). Culturally, it's heavily influenced by Czechia.

My country’s culture is heavily influenced by the USA, Latin America, and France. However, the nation’s history is inspired by Germany, Latin America and France, whilst our economy is based on that of Japan and the US. Meanwhile, our foreign policy and military is inspired by Japan and Australia, whilst the constitution is a mix of Germany and the United States.

So overall, a very diverse mix of sources

As far as government and politics go, some weird mixture between the United States and Canada with a heavy lean toward the United States. Toin has a foreign policy very, very loosely based on that of Japan (especially when it comes to the military), Canada, and the United States. If you haven't noticed, there's a theme running here...

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, if it had the same economic and territorial resources, and some cultural elements of the United States. Juche, if practiced in the 'hegemony' of a world, would likely see a much more relaxed implementation than what is presently seen.

Still working through it - I keep going back and forth between an ex-Spanish colony in South America that's doing relatively well and/or to something akin to the south of France. Chances are I'll choose a hybrid between the two... so...Catalonia?

I've tried to make Tangatarehua realistic but unique and not really comparable with any real world country.

Obviously I've taken aspects of various nations (New Zealand, Japan, various Polynesian nations, even nations like Taiwan, Thailand and Chile) and combined them, but I'd be aghast if it could be directly compared to any single real world country as it would suggest a lack of creativity on my part.

Free Norfolk City was born out of the blending of various concepts taken from historical entities like Ancient Carthage and the Italian city states, as well as modern countries like Singapore; the expulsion of Singapore from Malaysia inspired the expulsion of Free Norfolk City from my main nation's colonial empire. The Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth's elective monarchy and use of the liberum veto inspired the politics of the city state. However, I'd say all this "RL inspiration" collectively serves as a bit of background fluff; the vast majority of lore comes from my own imagination.

Finland, but with some Roman influences and insanely buffed military and diplomacy (WWII: we rekt the USSR, annexed all of Scandinavia because they wanted protection from Germany, and then used them as a launching point to Rush Berlin)

Mostly a mix of Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia, with a few elements from Mexico.

The whole country takes place in an alternate timeline with an independent, communist Quebec, which includes all of present-day Eastern Canada minus Newfoundland. So Canada would be the closest real life equivalent. When it comes to Quebec's government and politics though, I took inspiration from various Eastern Bloc allied countries- namely Cuba, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Vietnam, and the USSR.
