@TeamTrop

Great to have a fast qualifier in Juracai Klianiota to give @TeamTrop a good start to the weekend. All three cars in the Top 15 and looking for a solid result. At least Juracai won't get confused by the #3 pit board, but it sure will be strange for the rest of the team. At least our pit stalls aren't next to each other!

Chase III/3, Part 2 - Dirt's Final Say (II)

The PTCCU Auto Loans 300 was the dirt race to end all dirt races, a final hurrah before we have to use our Championship 4s to determine some brand-new champions. Today was always going to be a tense occasion, no matter who ended up making it, so let's just put everyone out of their misery... Who's in and who's out?

Let's get the traditional race stuff out of the way. We ended up with 5 retirements in this race, though none of them made a large impact in the Chase battle, while Sage Caldwell ended up in P37, Anna Star Joy Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe in P33 as the best non-Charter and Wilma von Cärinthen was the best open charter in P15 - as if she never left in the first place! HM would have a bit of a split day, with Lam Chow-Cheung down in P27 and Aurélia Karvonen had a great day in P12 while we at JR were certainly up in the mix as Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) came home in P4, Alfonso "Cyclone" Mercado (@AM64) was P7 and Michael "Kaiser" Stefan (@Stefan07) came home in P8. In terms of the battle for the win, it would end up being Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal who beat Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye and Islago Tizilna in order to claim the 2nd spot in the Championship 4. Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha, Kai Qiang, Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton and Chris Holmes were too far back to make any real impact...meaning that this seasons Top 4 will be Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal, Alfonso Mercado, Drake Stevenson and Thea Alvarez.

I've got to say...this Championship 4 is filled with so many stories. You have Rinzi in the #81 car with a title to its name, looking to try and make this 2nd straight appearance. You have Mercado looking to follow in his boyfriend's footsteps and keep the NSSCRA crown in JR's possession. You have Drake, despite everything he's been through this season, looking to finally take home a title that many would not complain about him winning at all. And then you have Thea, finally back in the Championship 4, looking to silence the doubters once and for all and make her sixth Top 4 season the golden one. All four have been through stuff in their careers. All four deserve the glory. Yet only one can. Tundra Falls will decide, of course, and while we wish Team Blue and GFR all the best, we're going to fight until the very last lap in order to keep this crown.

Are you guys ready for it?

Crossbay Circuit, Nimbus Bay, Nexus Wardship
The morning of the NSSCRA Drivers Showcase
For the first time in a number of years, Drake Stevenson was staring down a Chase Cutter, and the emotions of several years before came back just like a shot. The memories came back, and not all of them were good. The memories came back about how he had dreamt of winning the World Grand Prix Championship. The memories came about a person that had been in his life but left so suddenly due to her own poor decisions. And the memories came back about how Drake, whose heart just wasn’t in it, completely blew his shot at World Grand Prix glory. And the memories came back about Drake joining the NSSCRA.

Perhaps it was appropriate that a week before his best shot at winning the biggest prize in all of racing, Drake would take one last shot, one last look, at what a World Grand Prix Championship ride was all about. He would take one last look at what could have been, one week before going for what could be.

Drake stood in front of the Chase Cutter for a very long time as he contemplated what could have been, and how life could have been so different. If only something different had happened. If only that person hadn’t treated him like garbage. If only his heart had been in it.

He looked over at Taylor Henderson, who stood not far away, and smiled. You could say a lot about Taylor, and much had already been said. And there’s a decent argument that she probably deserves a lot of that. But at least she was loyal. And at least the idea of cheating on someone was so disgusting to her, that she would never even consider it. And that, to Drake, meant more to him than anything else. The same couldn’t be said for Drake’s friend from years gone by. Drake, at least, was thankful he had gotten to know Taylor, whose loyalty he knew he could trust.

Drake looked around the car and thought back to all the memories coming back. But at least he was in a better place in his life. As he looked at the car, he thought about the things that had happened since he cleaned out his apartment in the Nexus Wardship – an apartment he hardly ever used – and made it back home. He thought about getting back into a stock car. He thought about the late-race pass on Kai Qiang on the outside in Hapilopper City. He thought about meeting Taylor. He thought about NSSCRA 11 – and the fact he finished second to her in the championship. He thought about getting Rinzi as a teammate. He thought about this past year – which, even in spite of all the mayhem, all the drama and all the heartbreak, a year that had truly been the most rewarding in his professional life.

And then he thought about Taylor again. And he thought about their child. And a smile broke about Drake’s face again. It was exceedingly likely that, at this point, this would be the final time he ever got into a WGPC-spec car. Ever. And it was exceedingly likely that his career was starting to wind down. In recent weeks, Drake had started openly talking to Taylor about the end of his career, speaking about his plans. He considered running one season in HASCAR as a farewell tour of sorts, then going home, or moving to the Hampton Cities, where he wondered if Sharpe’s Coffee would hire him to be an ambassador to the company.

But all of these were preliminary thoughts. Drake hadn’t set anything in motion yet. But he didn’t want to travel all over the multiverse every weekend when he could be at home. And he had all kinds of money stored away – after all, Drake was, at the time, the highest-paid athlete in all of Hapilopper, and likely the highest-paid racing driver in the multiverse. So he could afford an early retirement. But at the same time, he also still loved racing. He loved going out on the track and racing against who he thought were the best racing drivers in the multiverse.

And at least, in HASCAR, there wasn’t the kind of drama he had encountered in NSSCRA. He could fly into the track on Friday and be home Sunday night. He could just go out, race, and be back home for his family. And that sounded a hell of a lot more attractive to him at this point.

Drake climbed into the Chase Cutter to see how it fit. In the years that had gone by since his ill-fated WGP2 sojurn, Drake had rediscovered his love for cold beer, fried chicken and steak, and that love meant there was a little more of him to go around than there was during his WGP2 days. Consequently, Drake had undergone a seat fitting with a Hap Championship Series team in recent weeks specifically for the Nexus run. That seat fitting was sent to Nexus Racing, and with that, Drake was able to – barely – fit in the Chase Cutter.

Once again, a wave of emotions ran through him. Taylor knew it, so she leaned in near the car.

“You good?” Taylor asked.

“I will be,” Drake said. “Lot of things have changed since I’ve been in something like this.”

“You’re going to be just fine,” Taylor said. “I know it.”

Drake looked at her and smiled.

“Everything could have been a lot different if this worked out,” Drake said. “I wouldn’t have met you. I’d still be begging for some asshole to keep me in her life even after she cheated on me with some low-life cretin. I’d be just as unhappy as Rudy is right now. And I’d probably want out anyway. But I want to see how I can do with this. I wonder if I could go as fast as those hot dogs will this weekend.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. This is my last time,” Drake said.

Heading to the end of the 3rd Act of the Chase, things were certainly beginning to look interesting for the T2 Chase. So much so, in fact, that the Pomo himself, Daniel Marx, called a meeting the night after the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 involving himself, Lam Chow-Cheung and Aurélia Karvonen, officially listed in the team records as "Relating To Preparations For The Following Season (T1 Only)" - which would seemingly be an understatement. Both drivers would have a debrief on their race before that, of course, but the real matters would come with this meeting as it concerned the lineup for next season's T1 lineup (not T2, that will depend on how AOCAR finishes up). The main matter at hand was that Ilmari Pëkannen was in a strong position to make it into Championship 4 and because of that, the Pomo wanted the blessing of both his T1 drivers for an idea to be put into place. The idea was simple - If Ilmari made the Championship 4, then he would be a T1 driver for next season, but if he doesn't, then a decision will have to be made before the final race of the season starts. It was as simple as that and while both Lam and Karvonen knew that this decision was a hard one to make, they knew it would be in the team's best interests to allow Ilmari to step up - and so, the deal was indeed made.

The gang would all be heading out to the Fhulghamous Peninsula in Abanhfleft for the 2nd to last race of the season and this time, the Oxyrhynchus-Ring would end up being covered in dirt especially for this event. In T1, it also marked the return of one Wilma von Cärinthen as she entered proceedings as an Open Charter - a return that meant Lam had to rush over to see their old Beer Buddy, giving them a nice hug to welcome them back. T1's race weekend would end up being one of the opposites as Lam fell from P11 on Saturday to P27 on Sunday while Karvonen went from P28 to P12 in the same time span. It was a good data-collecting weekend overall and one that Karvonen certainly enjoyed...especially as she's contemplating a change of number for next season, granting the new T1 driver the #71 as she looks to potentially claim the #47. AK47...it writes itself.

But the main focus for HM this weekend would be in T2 and it didn't take a genius to figure out why. Ilmari Pëkannen was looking to make it further than any Kimi-Suomen driver has ever been before by making it through to the Championship 4 itself and he would start in P15 while Kaarina Salo would be looking to help in P12 while also looking to make her own case for that seat should the worst happen to the #7. The race would end up being very chaotic as Salo became the 1st of 7 retirements in this race thanks to an engine failure, but Ilmari knew what he needed to do and he managed to come home in P11 in order to seal the deal...and make history in the process. Ilmrai Pëkannen will be in the Championship 4...and with that, the Battle for T1 was won. It would end up Lam who let him know that the decision had been set in stone...and a hug would be shared between the two in private. The future of this racing team had been set...and so, the party can begin!

BANK RUNS REPORTED AT SOUTHSIDE BANK BRANCHES ACROSS HAPILOPPER
By Mike Simpson, the Hapilopper Television Network

HAPILOPPER CITY – The Hapiloppian Financial Security Authority has issued a warning on Southside Bank after numerous bank runs were reported across Hapilopper.

It is not entirely clear how the bank runs got started, but some sources point to a social media post, purportedly from a Southside Bank executive, that suggested that the bank was on the verge of failure. However, Southside reported, through a spokesperson, that the person that made the post was not an actual executive from the bank.

“Southside is on shaky ground, are your assets safe?” commented the social media poster, who identified as “Travis Williams” on social media. “Make sure you don’t lose everything.”

“Williams’” bio on social media indicated that he was, until recently, the chief financial officer for Southside Bank. However, the bank indicates that was not the case.

“Mr. Williams has worked for Southside, but was recently terminated from one of our branches in East Hampton after we found he had stolen more than $10,000 in bank assets,” said Chip Tompkins, the bank’s communications director. “He has never worked in our executive office in any form, and we are seeking legal remedies to correct this issue.”

Regardless, the damage had been done by the time Southside issued an official statement. While the bank declined to state its losses, long lines could be seen outside of most Southside Bank branches across Hapilopper. Law enforcement, on numerous occasions, were dispatched to Southside branches in an attempt to control the large crowds that developed at branches.

There were some reports of violence. Law enforcement forcibly broke up a crowd in front of a Southside branch in East Hampton when several account holders started pushing and shoving, then broke out in physical fighting. East Hampton Police reported 15 arrests from that branch.

“We are very saddened to hear this news, and to have fallen victim to a devious social media hoax,” said Southside Bank President Oliver Marlin. “We will reorganize our assets and we will prosecute this prankster to the fullest extent of the law. We should also remind account holders that the HFSA has guaranteed all accounts up to $150,000, so your assets, for the most part, will not be impacted. We would also ask that all account holders stay away from our branches for a day or two as we reorganize.”

MARLIN RACING WITHDRAWS FROM TUNDRA FALLS
By Doug Goodman, the Hapilopper Television Network

HAPILOPPER CITY – Oliver Marlin Racing has officially withdrawn from the NSSCRA season finale next weekend in Newmanistan.

The team withdrew in the aftermath of bank runs conducted on Southside Bank, whose president and CEO, Oliver Marlin, has owned the team for around 30 years.

In fact, there are rumors that the team has issued redundancy notices to each of its employees, including its three drivers, Tyson Hoyt, Ray Harding and Roosevelt Jenkins. If true, this would mean that the team would indeed close down, a sad end to one of Hapilopper’s top racing teams.

Hoyt denied those rumors, stating that he still considered himself an OMR driver and was working on a package for NSSCRA 15.

“The fact is, we haven’t been laid off and we haven’t been fired,” Hoyt said. “I still consider myself a part of Marlin Racing and we’re going to be back for NSSCRA 15.”

“If everyone’s receiving redundancy notices, I haven’t gotten mine and Tyson hasn’t gotten his,” Harding said. “To be honest, it’s news to me. All we know is that we’re going to sit out Tundra Falls because Southside needs to reorganize assets because of what happened.”

Harding said that his plan was still to drive for the team, in some form or fashion, for NSSCRA 15.

“Maybe we need to divest ourselves from the bank, maybe we don’t,” Harding said. “I don’t know. But this is Mr. Marlin’s baby and for him to withdraw us has to hurt him deeply. This whole situation has hurt him deeply.”

Marlin declined to comment beyond confirming that the team will not be in Tundra Falls for the season finale.

Tsering Chu didn't want to go see the Imagination Nexus. She hadn't really wanted to come to the Wardship at all. On the surface, it was a beautiful country, and it seemed like they were meeting more people than usual who understood Sign Language -- but she was still suspicious about what the Nimbans did behind closed doors to maintain it all. She wasn't sure what to think about the origins of Imagination, and she also wondered how they got people to be so polite. Was it just how they were raised, or was it something more sinister and authoritarian?

Kai Qiang most certainly did want to visit the Nexus, and he persuaded Tsering to come along.

As they stared into the blue light, Qiang was captivated by its unusual beauty. Tsering thought she was going to be sick. What if it really was made from blood magic? How much blood would you need, or how many people would have to spend their lives in some sort of magical sweatshop to create such a thing? (The sweatshop explanation actually made more sense than stealing people's blood, even if it was less interesting.) Even if there was some innocent explanation for how the Nexus was created, it was just weird and unnatural to have that much magic in one place.

Tsering looked away and tugged at Qiang's arm. At first, he wouldn't even turn to see what she wanted, but she pulled on his arm again to get his attention. "Can we get out of here? That thing is giving me the creeps."

Qiang looked at Tsering as if he had only half-understood the hand signs. He glanced back at the Nexus. "You don't think it's beautiful?"

Tsering screwed up her face in disgust and shook her head emphatically.

Qiang stared into the eerie blue light as if the conversation with Tsering had never happened. She grabbed his arm a third time and signed in sharp rapid-fire hand signs, visibly upset, "Qiang, that thing is CREEPING ME OUT! Can we please leave?"

Qiang glanced back at the Nexus, but then realized he needed to leave. Tsering was genuinely upset, and their marriage was more important than some oversized talisman. He took her hand and they headed back out toward the street.

Their hotel room had a balcony with a beautiful view, but it was facing in the direction of the Nexus, and they had to close the blinds so Tsering wouldn't be creeped out by the distant blue glow. While Tsering took a shower, Qiang sat on the balcony by himself admiring the view and thinking how nice it would be to sit out there with a can of beer or a shot of baijiu or a glass of rum and Vilaye. He was more convinced than ever that the Nimbans were not actually human. How could you have a whole country with no alcohol? It wasn't natural.

At the track, Tsering felt much more comfortable. Crossbay Circuit had its share of local color, but it was still a race track and that made it feel more comfortably familiar.

Qiang and Tsering said hello to a few of the WGPC drivers who were holding meet and greet events, and they decided to enter an RC racing tournament that was being held in the hospitality village. Neither of them had brought an RC car, but they heard there were going to be some cars available to borrow. As they approached the RC track, a peculiar sight caught Tsering's eye. She grabbed Qiang's arm and signed, "If the paparazzi got a shot of that, the tabloids would have a field day!" She jerked her head in the direction she was looking so Qiang would see what she meant.

Shuzhen Zhu and Ryker Lane were standing beside the RC track having a totally innocent conversation about the tournament, but from the awkward way Zhu was smiling and fiddling with her hair, you would have thought she was some teenage fan who never met a professional racing driver before. She looked more starstruck than anything else, and it only took a quick glace at the RC tournament's leaderboard -- where Lane's name was right under Zhu's -- to guess what they were talking about. But that wouldn't stop a tabloid from taking an image out of context. It was a good thing the Sherpa media had almost no presence on the ground at Crossbay. SISN bought the rights to foreign broadcasts and dubbed their own commentary; Beihua didn't cover WGPC at all.

Qiang's mind flashed back to the embarrassing day when Mendok had found the bootleg poster in his closet, and his first instinct was to turn around and run away. He resisted the urge and pretended like nothing was bothering him as he walked over to say hello.

Qiang and Tsering took their turn at the RC track, and Tsering kicked Qiang's ass. He said it was because he was distracted, but Tsering was not accepting that as an excuse. "You think I'm not distracted by all the weird stuff going on around here? I still can't believe they have that Nexus thing in the middle of a city. What if it blows up or something? Think about all those people!"

Mitä On Jäljellä? (What Is Left?)

Postby Kimi-Suomi » Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:44 pm

And so...it's time to see how I did after all. Hello, my name is Mätiyäs Eskolinen and, if you need any introduction, I consider myself an expert in all things moottoriurheilua Kimi-Suomessa. After the chaotic time known as the regular season went down, I took it upon myself to try and predict how the Chase would go down. Now, we all get to check and see how well I did and whether or not my dignity is under threat or not. So...how well did I do?

Eliminated In First Cutoff
13) Chris Holmes (Hapilopper) - Made Top 8
14) Tsering Chu (Sherpa-Imperiumi/The Sherpa Empire) - Made Top 12
15) Rustam Ilyich Yudin (Abanhfleft) - BANG ON!
16) Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton (Valentine Z) - Made Top 8
Rustam was the only one who ended up here in the 1st Act as the other 3 made it farther than I anticipated. Chu just about missed out on joining Holmes and Tracer in the Top 12, so fair play to all 3 of them for going well and beyond.

Eliminated in Second Cutoff
9) Drake Stevenson (Hapilopper) - Made Championship 4
10) Alfonso Mercado (JYK-inen/TJUN-ia) - Made Championship 4
11) Yraaga Gilli’i (Vilita ja Turori/Vilita & Turori) - BANG ON!
12) Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha (Valentine Z) - Made Top 8
Again, I only got 1 right here as Yraaga Gilli’i fell in Act 2 and the other 3 moved on farther than expected. I did say I was expecting a driver like Drake Stevenson to fall here but clearly, Drake himself wasn't the answer as a 2nd shot at the title awaits him. Alfonso Mercado, meanwhile, is certainly making a habit of making me look like a fucking dumbo and that's exactly what he's done in this battle.

Eliminated in Third Cutoff
5) River ‘Shark’ Suzgar II (Vilita ja Turori/Vilita & Turori) - Made Top 16
6) Stacie Houston (Pyhä Kanye/Saint Kanye) - Made Top 12
7) Centur Tiones (Tropicorp) - Made Top 16
8 ) Michael Stefan (JYK-inen/TJUN-ia) - Made Top 16
Oof...yeah, this one didn't go well at all. Having the defending champion going home at the 1st hurdle certainly hurt, but the Shark too? AND Tiones?! It was a fucking disaster. Houston's early exit alongside her husband would be the final straw...so yeah, this one's a write-off.

Final Four
1) Jeremiah Brooke (Pyhä Kanye/Saint Kanye) - Made Top 12
2) Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal (Hapilopper) - BANG ON!
3) Kai Qiang (Sherpa-Imperiumi/The Sherpa Empire) - Made Top 8
4) Thea Alvarez (Pyhä Kanye/Saint Kanye) - BANG ON!
Two right and two wrong means that only 1/4 of my pick were bang on the money...which I guess sums it all up. I was right about Rinzi and Thea being here, which I absolutely like - as Rinzi is a driver on a mission and it's nice to see Thea make it back to this point after 2 seasons out of the Chase entirely. Qiang not being here is a surprise, though it has happened before, but seeing Brooke not even make Top 8 was a shock...and that helped contribute to the overall chaos.

T2
Where will Ilmari Pëkannen finish? - P12 (In Championship 4)
How in the ever-loving fuck is Ilmari in the Championship 4?! He was a "win-and-in" driver, only in this position because he won in the regular season, but now here he is, making it farther than any HM driver had gone before - which certainly helped in him getting that T1 seat for next season.

EverLong Championship 4? - Michelle Kass Evelyn Vítková Pavlína, Edmund Flanders, Pyotr Lavrentiev, Axel Chase
Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Wrong. That's what happens when you try to predict the 2nd Tier...it just doesn't want to work with you.

Now then...who do I think is going to win it all? Maybe you trust my word, maybe you don't, but here's what I think.

EverLong Championship 4
1) Sage Caldwell (Pyhä Kanye/Saint Kanye))
2) Alex Remington (Hapilopper)
3) Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine (Valentine Z)
4) Ilmari Pëkannen (Kimi-Suomi)
As much as I would love for Ilmari to end his T2 career with the biggest shock in Chase history, I can't see it happening. Instead, I've opted for a war that will be won by Sage Caldwell - because why not, right? Why can't Sage win a title? He's broken the race curse so why can't he pull this one off and prove everyone wrong? I would like to see it...and I feel like I'm not alone here.

Cup Series Championship 4
1) Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal (Hapilopper)
2) Thea Alvarez (Pyhä Kanye/Saint Kanye)
3) Alfonso Mercado (JYK-inen/TJUN-ia)
4) Drake Stevenson (Hapilopper)
This one was tough as all hell to call - because you could make an argument that all 4 of these drivers deserve to wear that crown. In this tough battle, a tough decision had to be made - so here, I went for history. The last time Drake was in the Championship 4 with a teammate, it was the #73 of Taylor Henderson that took the crown. Therefore, I'll say Rinzi does it in his 2nd C4 straight and takes a brilliant title here. I know I was wrong to predict him last time and I truly believe that Mercado, Thea and even Drake himself will have something to say about that...but it feels like Rinzi's time to me.

So, there we are..my job is done. Now, tome must dictate how right/wrong I am. See you next season! Nähdään ensi kaudella!

Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Tundra Falls, Newmanistan
Leading up to qualifying for the Proving Grounds 500
Race weekend hadn’t officially started yet and the fun had already begun. It started right after the race in the Fhulghamous, when two of Team Blue’s three drivers – Drake Stevenson and Rinzi Zakhilwal – qualified for the final championship four to determine the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup Champion. Both were beloved in Hapilopper – Drake, said to be Hapilopper’s favorite son, was getting his best chance ever at winning the biggest prize in all of auto racing, while Rinzi, Hapilopper’s favorite adopted son, was going to have his second straight shot at that very same championship. So, naturally, the excitement across Hapilopper was at an all-time high.

That excitement could be seen on the convoy of planes taking off from Hapilopper City Airport Conyers, bound for Tundra Falls. All through the last couple of days, fans had flown from all over Hapilopper to HCA Conyers to get to Tundra Falls, and stories were being told of rowdy fans whooping it up on the way there. Now those rowdy fans were whooping it up on the way to Tundra Falls. They had vowed that they would be there in force to cheer on their two championship drivers, and they were living up to that promise.

By the time many of the planes arrived in Tundra Falls, there were stories already coming out. Not all planes made it to Tundra Falls with all their passengers. Some were forcibly removed before leaving Atlantian Oceania or upon arrival to Esportiva to remove certain passengers who overdid it. Pilots and cabin crew leaving the Hapiloppian planes looked visibly frustrated with what they had just dealt with. More than a few Hapiloppians looked partied out as they arrived at the airport in Tundra Falls. It was the start of what was going to be a wild week as the Hapiloppians cheered on their championship hopefuls.

As the night before qualifying unfolded, many of those Hapiloppians were already in the infield, holding rowdy parties and celebrating what was to come. They were hopeful that one of their two heroes – Drake or Rinzi – was going to leave Tundra Falls with the NSSCRA title. Already, there were Hapiloppian flags, Team Blue flags, Drake Stevenson flags, Rinzi Zakhilwal flags, spotted all over the infield.

In the Team Blue Center, which had been set up throughout the day, Drake Stevenson and Taylor Henderson were sitting at a couch looking at some documents from the week before. Taylor’s pregnancy was starting to show, and it wasn’t long until they knew what the gender of their child would be. Already, the two had agreed on some names for their child – if it was a boy, the likely name would be Kenneth Carl Stevenson. If it was a girl, the likely name would be Ashley Gabriela Stevenson. That’s what they had decided on that week, as a way to escape from the inevitable stress that would meet them head-on as they got to Tundra Falls.

Other crew members were leaving them alone. Drake and Taylor were saying nothing to each other – but they didn’t need to. There was nothing to be said.

The next morning, Drake figured he’d poll some of the other drivers in the garage to see if they could be of assistance on the race track – to make it a two-driver fight between he and Rinzi. He knew he could trust Chris Holmes to help both out. He thought about going to Kai Qiang and Tsering Chu to ask them for assistance – not so much to tilt the championship one way or another, but to help it be decided between he and Rinzi. He knew that the Gale Force drivers were out of the question and he knew that Tsunopin was out of the question. He knew that Jaguar Racing was out of the question, and was perfectly understandable. They were probably going to help one of their own.

So Drake started looking down the list of other drivers in the field. Drivers like the Valentians – guys who he figured would be great to help anyone. Drivers like the crew from Vilita and Turori – after all, the Hapiloppians felt some kind of loyalty to the Vilitans and the Turorians. Guys like Shuzhen Zhu, someone Drake liked and felt a kindred spirit with, owing to her time driving for Nexus Racing. Guys like the crew from Tropicorp.

“Bo Baludo,” Taylor suddenly said.

“Bo Baludo?” Drake asked.

“Bo Baludo,” Taylor responded. “I bet anything he’d be more than happy to help you out. Go over and see him tomorrow. Anything to get back at Tsunopin. And anything to screw over Tsunopin’s girl.”

Drake nodded his head and the lightbulb, albeit somewhat delayed, flashed on in his head.

“Oh yeah,” Drake responded. “Hell yeah I’ll go and see him. I bet he’d love to put the screws to Tsunopin again. Good idea, love!”
Image

With that, Drake scribbled the name “BO BALUDO” and circled it on the top piece of paper he was holding. He figured he’d go see him first – just to see if he could offer any assistance. There were others he had in mind – Qiang, Chu, Zhu, Star, Shark, Anastasia, Yraaga, Tiones, Starlight, Juracai Klianiota (if he was there), Tracer, and there had to be others. He knew he was going to need a coalition of the willing if he was going to get up front and stay up front – and if he and Rinzi were going to fight this championship between each other. Because that’s all Drake really wanted – was a chance for he and Rinzi to decide the title between them.

And back home, that’s how the race was being advertised. Billboards had popped up all over Hapilopper with pictures of Drake and Rinzi – Hapilopper’s two championship hopefuls. This was truly a massive, massive deal back home.

Heading into the final race weekend of the fourteenth season of NSSCRA, Thea Alvarez was feeling stressed out. But should she be> Maybe not, she thought. It's just not worth it anyway. This will be her seventh appearance in the Championship Four, a league record, but in those seven shots at claiming the Multiversal Cup, she had come home with it exactly zero times. Will this be her year? Maybe not, if the majority of NSSCRA fans were to be believed.

According to them, it was the wrong Gale Force Racing driver who had made it this far. Jeremiah Brooke or Stacie Houston would've gotten more support if they had been part of the title battle in Tundra Falls, but even as they've graciously accepted that neither of them were meant to add to their trophy case this season, and will instead be looking forward to the next one, the same could not be said for their supporters. Some were of the belief that Thea should've made way for Stacie in Tropicorp, while others claimed her car was cheated up and she shouldn't have advanced at the expense of either of her teammates. Not exactly a confidence booster, right?

Thea was definitely confused. During the week's break between the cutoff race in Abanhfleft and the season finale in Newmanistan, Stacie and Jeremiah decided to travel to the Nexus Wardship in order to take part in the festivities surrounding the WGPC's Nimban Grand Prix. They did invite Thea to come, but she didn't want to, for the reason that she needed to prepare for her title run. But now, as she's doing that, she had a thought in her mind that whatever preparation she's making will likely be fruitless. If she was meant to be crowned NSSCRA champion, she would've done so at least once in the prior six times she had gotten that far, right? If that's the case, then maybe she should've gone with her teammates to the Wardship instead of training. What's the point? Thea was in the middle of a simulated Proving Grounds 500, running in the lead with the three other title hopefuls behind her, when she abruptly quit, rose from her rig, and laid facedown on an adjacent couch. She remained silent, but tears were trying to escape her eyes. She can't do this anymore, but she had to try, if only because it'll all be over in a few days. Win or lose.

Sage Caldwell was also deep in the middle of practice, but unlike Thea who was just so done before the season was, his head was actually in it to win it. He only agreed to dip back down into the second tier Everlong series to regain some confidence, but here he is now, having won a couple of races throughout the season and is now competing for the title. Maybe this is where he truly belongs, Sage thought to himself. Rather than being a small fish in the big Multiversal pond, maybe he's meant to be a big fish in the small Everlong one. Or maybe he's just here to gain confidence and experience before a return to the top tier in a few seasons, who knows? But before all that, Sage felt like he'd have to think about something nearer in the future first, in this case, the title race. Would be a big achievement for him, after he had already increased his win total in international competitions by infinity percent. Some joke that a Sage Caldwell championship would bring about the end times, but he dismissed those as just jokes. "If they happen to be true though, at least I'll be dying happy, as a winner and a champ." Others argued that Sage winning a race was not the only sign of an impending apocalypse - it had to be paired with something equally improbable, like say, a Thea Alvarez title.

Daryl Calhoun saw his soon to be ending Multiversal rookie season as a modest success. Sure, the Rookie of the Year honors would likely go to Ongmu Yeti as the only newcomer to take the checkered flag, but still, Daryl felt okay with where he stood, with far fewer poor finishes and DNQs than he would've expected. Not only that, but he had actually come to like Newmanistan, Rocket Motorsports, and his teammates. Daryl told the press that he is looking forward to at least another season with Rocket, and hopefully better finishes for himself; when asked about who he's rooting for in the title race, he almost instantly answered his fellow Yeezie Thea, but also Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal, because he "thinks he's a cool guy". Drake Stevenson was also cool in Daryl's book, but fellow Rocket driver Chelsea Taylor does not like the Hap. As for Alfonso Mercado, he doesn't really know much about him other than that he's Michael Stefan's boyfriend, but maybe Daryl just needs time to get acquainted to him, and in fact the other drivers in the field.

The Valentians – Race 24 – Multiversal: Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400, Kardashia Autoring, Saint Kanye (Speedway); Everlong: Axis Hyper Clean 300, Kardashia Autoring, Saint Kanye (Speedway)

Exuberant Superintendent T-2000/2904-3 Surveillant Clarissa Alanis Star Breya « La Amoureux Chéri » Millie Taissa Butterfly Mélody Coraline Jolijn Trini Clementine Hollie Samantha Zeta Harumi happily took her placement and finish with stride. After all, an 14th finish was a pretty recent one. It was, however, not the race itself that was exciting her and making her happy a little too much than usual even for her. Instead, it was her recalling an event all of a sudden in her memories, one where Alanis Star (and thus Valentine Z) has established a territory in another place, other than just Valentine Z Earth and Mars. With her taking the helm as Valkyrie Valentijn always allows her to, Clarissa made her way back quickly to Valentine Z’s Brazil, specifically to Rio De Janeiro where most of her operations take place. Alanis Star – the autonomous region of Valentine Z, is a technological marvel, a merge between nature and urban, but with a little bit more on the latter compared to the parts of the world that is greener and under Valentine Z itself. While she (and Adriana) still answers to Valentine Z at the end of the day, the autonomy and freedom given by Valkyrie Valentijn to the respective autonomous regions have been a blessing, and so Clarissa and Adriana would make sure that the countries and territories under them are developed to the best of their ability.

Going back, Clarissa was greeted with a shower of greetings and love, something that she appreciates a lot. At the same time, there are also a lot of Valentians who gave her a simple smile and then went about with their own lives. And that is exactly what Clarissa and the rest of The Sixty love to see as well; to be able to walk around with a good amount of attention, but at the same time, to not cause disruptions in daily lives just because someone important is visiting, a good mix of the two. Clarissa also did not bother with having guards around her, walking along the clean and pristine roads with a few of the more adoring fans following her and asking for autographs here and there, as well as asking her on how the races were like so far, “Well, with it nearly done, the heat is definitely on!” Clarissa remarked, “A lot of racing and fighting for the stop 4 positions, for the Chase. I’m not sure if I will be going in for this season, but hey, as they say: There is always another season!” This was also followed by a slew of autographs given, as well as hugs and perhaps even a few kisses on the cheeks (Valentijn totally didn’t mind).

She arrived at her residence, a large but still humble home and officer of hers, kept clean and tidy by many of the robots and custodians, all of who also have ample amenities and living space for themselves. ‘Good afternoon, my dear friends!” Clarissa greeted with glee towards her helpers, “Amazing job as always, thank you for keeping it clean! Please remember to take ample breaks, and make sure that you get enough sleep or battery charge!” they all nodded and smiled, happy for that job well done, along with being able to hear the cheerful and angelic voice of Clarissa that they get the pleasure of hearing every day. The Head Custodian of the home stayed for a short while, asking Clarissa as to what needed doing, and is there anything that they can help with. “Oooh no need! You have done more than enough already, thank you! For me? I will be making a speech! Some good news, of course! You too will know in due time, which is right about now!” With the excitement in the air including from Valentijn herself, Clarissa went out to the balcony a lot of them gathered up at the square below, and the rest of them tuning in from their TVs or phones, Clarissa talked to billions of Valentians, all eyes on her. “Hello, my wonderful friends and families of Valentine Z! I have some delightful and amazing news for everyone! As we might know, Alanis Star, and it means Valentine Z essentially, have established a territory in Atlantian Oceania!” Much cheers and jubilations were unanimously had between the Valentians (along with a few non-Valentian visitors), then her speech continued.

“This was in due thanks to the negotiation and diplomatic efforts of the Valentians with these friendly folks from AO, as we would call them! As you all know by now, Alanis Star has been acting as a “vagrant” territory for the all of us, looking around the multiverse to see where we can establish ourselves in, in another world. It is usually seen as a good experience for the Valentians – both in terms of diplomacy, making friends with the natives, and of course, with our recent itch for sports, to participate in their region’s sports of their own. Getting to the point, of course, Alanis Star now has a territory in AO as I have said, and specifically between Squornshelan Remnant States, New West Guiana, and Aboveland! You may also have heard of the names such as Quebec and Shingoryeo, who also has an interdimensional portal established and a territory there, as far as I have read and researched! Last but not the very least, countries like Saint Kanye and Hapilopper!” More “ooohs” and “ahhhhs” from the audience were heard, followed by Clarissa continuing on, “So you can see how this is beneficial for us, as well as for the locals there, I’m sure of it! It goes without saying – we are not there as conquerors to take over their territories; there’s more than enough for us here and in other star systems and universes one day. For us, we will be there as friends!“

And thus, Alanis Star was established via an interdimensional portal in AO. It was not the technical aspects of the portal that was slowing them down, the Valentians have mastered this long ago. It was, however, the fact that the wheels of diplomacy and negotiations do turn slowly, even if everything has been nice and frictionless along the way. With their own territory marked out nicely for them, Clarissa, her robots, and a lot of the Valentians started to work. The very first thing they built was Node 171, the second capital city away from Valentine Z’s universe where once again, glass skyscrapers stood tall and proud, with parks and native wildlife all scattered and preserved as much as the Valentians can. In order words, it was the same setting as Valentine Z, except that the flora and fauna are the ones found in AO, and their territory looks more like a country and less like a two-planet power that they always have been. For that, there are no complaints, of course. Standing 3000 meters above the ground on one of the many skyscrapers, Clarissa looked at the distance, proud of the work that she and the Valentians have put up.

“Now that our little off-dimension (off-shore) territory has been established, and everything been taken care of nicely,” Clarissa started off on the meeting, with Adriana and a few other members of The Sixty in it, “Perhaps we can discuss about our international relationships with the other nations. In particular, I hear that Cocoabo Forest is nice at this time of the year! Ahh haha, let me get to the point – let us discuss Visa-free travel with these countries.”

The Gardeners – Race 24 – Multiversal: Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400, Kardashia Autoring, Saint Kanye (Speedway); Everlong: Axis Hyper Clean 300, Kardashia Autoring, Saint Kanye (Speedway)

Holly Aceline “De Stralend en Wonderbaarlijk Licht Koningin Van Haar Mooie Universum” Aurora Symantha Vreugde Astrid Lavender Lexis Lilac Harmony Tsi. Marlie Nova Radiant Lapia Starlight’s time to do her very best and her hardest at the race was over, and soon becomes the time for her to do a little bit of relaxation. After all, she truly deserves one after placing 10th for this race at Saint Kanye, in part due to the fact that she enjoys her time at the country and its race. She might not have interacted with them as much as with the Valentians, the Hapilopperians, or the folks from The Sherpa Empire, and she have not teamed up with them as much as the main Valentians did with the likes of Jeremiah, Stacie, and Thea. Still, she can very well enjoy their company, and wondered as to if she should go out with them one day. For the time being, for this day, however, she simply wanted to be in her home.

The portal once again opens up to a blue world, one that is hers and hers only, even if she has allowed Valentians and many other visitors. After all, she has lived this way for many eternities, so why should she change something that has so far been working very well for her? She loved the idea of having total control over her own dimension that she calls home. She loves the idea of being able to see everything and everyone who has stepped foot into her dimension. Of course, that also includes her being able to make sure that no one in particular would have any funny ideas when they step into her home. Having made sure that there is no one else in her dimension at that time, not even Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton herself, Holly temporarily closed the portals to her world, no one caught in the folds, those who tried to step in will clearly see just a wall, and more importantly, no frails. Some peace and quiet for her, she thought to herself, walking up slowly to her treehouse and then into her bedroom, all of it decorated with soft and colorful lights. She twirled with grace and magnificence around the living room, loving the company of simply herself. Sure, she has already opened up to quite a lot of Valentians and other people around the multiverse, but that does not mean that she can still enjoy her isolated nature of it all. She enjoyed it, she enjoyed every bit of spending her time in her own home. She then ran back down to the base of her treehouse, sitting on the swing that was tied to a large tree branch as she swung happily and sang a few sounds loudly into her world. This was then followed by Holly going towards a large grass field, with flowers of all colors scattered about. Sure, she could have done this any other time, but she figured that placing 10th, then being at the near-end of the race, was perfect.

For Holly Starlight, this was one of the best days ever, and she was having one heck of a thrill spending a lot of time in her own home, one that reminds her of how much her dimension really means to her, and to the Valentians as well. A garden of infinite dimensions, stretching across all directions. A cold but welcoming place that is hospitable to those who takes care and respects it. A lonely but content and joyful entity inside, of a name – Holly Starlight.

Rinzi and Tashi Zakhilwal were a little overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the Hapiloppian public. "There are so many of them..." Tashi marveled as she looked out across the infield where a mob of Team Blue fans had gathered. It looked like some of the Hapiloppians had new Asian friends that they communicated with using hugs, smiles, and beer.

"And they're so passionate," Rinzi said approvingly.

"Guh!" little Mohammed chimed in. He waved his arms excitedly and popped his new toy Scuderia Orange Cow car into his mouth.

"Uh-oh, I don't think that's food," Tashi said as she pulled the car out of her son's mouth. The toy car was a gift from Tsering Chu that she had bought at the Nimban Grand Prix. Qiang had stopped to buy souvenirs for his own children, and Tsering thought they should get one for Mohammed too. They chose Batu Tüvshinbayar's car for Mohammed because Batu, Rinzi, and Mohammed all had Mongolian ancestry.

Rinzi tried not to stress out about how much was at stake this weekend, how many people were watching, how many people were counting on him. The other Sherpa drivers had all agreed that they would work together with Team Blue because Rinzi was the last Sherpalander who had a shot at winning the title. Sure, Qiang might get tired of having his hair ruffled and Zhu might get tired of hearing Rinzi's theories about the Satanic influences in Nimban culture, but they were all Sherpalanders and they had their national pride to think of.

Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Tundra Falls, Newmanistan
The final practice session for the Proving Grounds 500
Most of the drivers were lined up on pit road for the final practice session – “Happy Hour” for the final race of the season. There were a handful of cars out of line, sitting on pit stalls off to the side, where crew members were making some extra adjustments to the cars before they felt comfortable sending their car out on track. While some teams were finishing up those adjustments, a handful of crew members, including John Malloy, were standing behind the pit wall next to car 81. There was no movement inside that car, nor any indication that anything was going to fire up any time soon. A couple of technicians from the Hapilopper Television Network walked over to make sure that the in-car cameras and telemetry systems were working to design. When they looked into the car, they spotted something real interesting.

Drake Stevenson was fully suited up, his open-face helmet on and strapped up, his goggles down to his eyes. He was snoring and was sound asleep inside his car.
A technician radioed in to the production truck outside the Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, asking that an in-car camera, situated behind the dashboard and pointed at Drake, be switched on. The producers did just that and got a good glimpse of Drake snoozing inside the car.

That technician went over the pit wall and went towards the Team Blue crew members behind the wall.

“Is he always that…?” the technician asked.

“He’s cool,” John Malloy responded. “He’s loose. If anything he’s trying to get under the skin of the others. There’s some that are really agonizing over everything. Drake’s doing a psych out game.”

“Oh,” the technician said.

“Yeah, keep it under your hat, but we’re only running two laps this practice. An out lap and an in lap. We’re good,” Malloy said.

As the cars started to roll out for practice, Drake’s eyes slowly started to open. He looked over to the right and saw a handful of cars pass him by as he made quiet, relaxed noises to himself. He was fully strapped in already, and the onboard shot of Drake Stevenson, aired on H-Sports and other international television outlets, as the final practice started, spoke volumes. Was Drake so relaxed, so calm, that he was actually snoozing on pit road? While other drivers were probably agonizing?

There were rumors, for starters, that the stress had gotten to Thea Alvarez. While word in the garage can get muddled as different people tell the stories, the word that Team Blue, and Drake Stevenson, had heard was that Thea had been freaking out and had resigned herself to the fact that she was going to lose the NSSCRA title. With that in mind, Drake and Team Blue wanted to turn the screws on Thea a little more, and maybe turn the screws on Alfonso Mercado in the process. This was a psychological battle, and Drake wanted Thea and Mercado to think that Drake was so ready that he was just going to blow the final practice off.

Eventually, John Malloy sent his driver out, and Drake fired the engine on, sat there for a little bit to make sure he wouldn’t be in a huge draft pack, and rolled the car down pit road. It seemed like all the world’s cameras were on him as he pulled out of pit road and onto the race track.

Through turns one and two, Drake stayed on the apron as a large pack of cars flew past him. On the backstraight, he got on the race track, gunned the throttle and made his way to the third and fourth turns.

The plan had been somewhat revised – originally, it would be an out lap and an in lap, but now Drake would take two laps at speed before bringing it in. Just to see how the car would feel at speed. But that would be it. Team Blue wanted everyone to know that they were ready, and that they weren’t sweating the preparations. After the second lap, John Malloy radioed in to see how Drake liked the car.

And that’s exactly what they did. Drake pulled the car into the garage, he climbed out, and in full view of everyone, John Malloy handed Drake a cold beer and a large hamburger. It was a sign that they were done with practice and they were done with preparation for the season finale. And it was a sign that unlike the others, some of whom were probably sweating it out, biting their fingernails and dreading what was coming next, Drake Stevenson and the 81 crew weren’t bothered with it.

Because of regulations, Drake waited until he was out of the garage to crack open the beer, and avoided the pit road. Having an open container as a competitor in a hot garage or a hot pit road was a really easy way to get in a hell of a lot of trouble, and Drake didn’t want to get nailed by NSSCRA for about the dumbest thing possible. So he waited to go into the Team Blue Center to crack open that beer. Cameras were following him as he entered the Center, and in a very rare move, he invited the cameras into the Team Blue Center. He wanted to show Thea Alvarez and he wanted to show Alfonso Mercado that he was ready. He wanted to show Gale Force Racing and Jaguar Racing that Team Blue was ready to go.

Many of the world’s cameras pointed at Drake Stevenson, lounging on a sofa in the Team Blue Center, drinking a cold beer and chowing down on a huge hamburger.

The next morning
Race morning dawned bright and early for the world of NSSCRA. As he liked to do on race morning, Drake woke up early – early enough to walk around the infield, take in the smells and surroundings and maybe make an early-rising fan’s day – which he did for a few. These sort of early-morning excursions were always fun, and always a great way to get the day off to a good start. But this day felt different. He had slept so well the night before, was so relaxed as the day dawned, and it just seemed like that whatever happened on this day, well, it would happen. But it all felt different – the feeling that he needed the greatest race of his life.

There were a handful of butterflies that entered into his stomach as fans greeted him with everything from well wishes for a championship, requests for autographs and selfies, and even the odd heckle from other fans, which Drake greeted with a smile and a laugh.

When he made it to the Team Blue Center about an hour later, he spotted a different crowd in the Team Blue Center. It wasn’t just the usual suspects on a race day morning. Sitting at Drake’s spot, at the far end of the dining room table, was William Mathis, the President of Hapilopper, surrounded by members of his security detail. A known car guy, and the man that gave the command to start the Exhibition 500 every year, Mathis followed the NSSCRA every week.

Not far away was Jim Preston, the head of Preston Autos, alongside some of those that worked in the Preston executive suite, including Shawn Hammer, the head of Preston Performance Products, and Marty Lewis, the head of Preston Autos Grand Prix Racing.

With the extra personnel, all the drivers, and with members of the media invited into the Team Blue Center to capture the moment, it was the most crowded anyone could recall the Team Blue Center being.

“Mr. Stevenson,” Mathis started. “We made the trip over to wish you all the best. You know, and I know you know this, but there’s a lot of people that don’t get it, but we do racing a little different in our country. I believe there was a blogger from TJUN-ia who suggested earlier this year that this sport is so important to us that you’d have to have a race track to get government funding. That might not necessarily be true, but it’s steeped in fact. You see, automobile racing, for one reason or another, is a vital part of our culture. It’s what so many young boys and girls want to do with their lives back home. And so many of them desire to make it to the big leagues of racing. And so many of them, Mr. Stevenson, will be watching you today. They will be watching you as you make history. And I know you will be more than capable of doing it.

“Mr. Zakhilwal,” Mathis continued. “Hapilopper is eternally grateful that you have decided to settle within our borders. You are the embodiment of everything that is good with the sport of racing. You are a tremendous talent and a wonderful ambassador both to ourselves, but I imagine to your home country, the Sherpa Empire. There are many people within this country that view you as the perfect example to shine on our young people – those looking to get in racing, or those with no interest in the sport whatsoever. And we’ll be watching with interest, and all of Hapilopper will watch, as you go for history. This country is richer because of your presence, and we hope you stay here in the long term.”

“Thank you, Mr. President,” Drake responded, a tone of reverence flush about his voice.

“And I’d like to say something as well,” Jim Preston said, his terrifying energy intimidating some in the Team Blue Center. “This man is Preston Autos through and through. This man is Team Blue through and through. And we’ve made it very clear that this man, and Mr. Zakhilwal and Mr. Holmes, are our guys in the long term. Let us not forget Mr. Zakhilwal. The previous administration at Team Blue, I’m talking about Ms. McAlister, hit a home run when they signed Mr. Zakhilwal to this team. The last two seasons, and both seasons since he has joined us, Mr. Zakhilwal has been a championship contender. If it’s Mr. Stevenson or Mr. Zakhilwal, we’ll get the result we want, and while I can’t guarantee we get that result, I can assure you, we’ve got a great shot. But just know, Mr. Stevenson, and know, Mr. Zakhilwal, that the full weight of the Preston brand is behind you one hundred percent. You’ve done us proud. Both of you.”

“Thank you, sir,” Drake responded.

“I’m just gonna say right now,” Jim Preston said, “that I hope it comes down to the two of you. Anyone that associates with Ilya Tsunopin is no good in my eyes, and Alfonso Mercado’s year will come later. But I’d love to see the two of you, Mr. Stevenson and Mr. Zakhilwal, settle it for the title. Keep it clean, race hard, race fair, and most importantly, go forth and kick some ass today.”

Drake Stevenson smiled. He didn’t know how the day was going to turn out. If he knew, there would be no sense in running the race. But today had the potential to be the greatest day of his racing life. The rest of Team Blue knew the importance of the day, and they knew how much all of this meant to themselves. How much all this meant to the team. How much all of this meant to their friends back home. How much all this meant to their fellow countrymen.

“Guys, there’s something my brother told me once,” Drake said. “It was something Thom Perkins said years ago in the locker room in the Free Republics, the night the Hapiloppian team won the Baptism of Fire. He looked at all everyone in that room. He said ‘This is your moment. This is what you’ve worked for. We are Hapilopper. We will be champions.’ Just remember that. When we go out there, on the track, in the pits, everywhere. We are Hapilopper. That’s all there is to it.”

The team took that mindset – a deadly serious mindset – as they prepared for the biggest race of their lives. The title was within reach.

Congratulations to the NSSCRA Pick 'em Championship Challengers! Good luck to @DCarJR, @skiia, @melvin_tha_gr8 and our returning finalist @Trixie0921 in the deciding round!

#NSSCRA : #nspickem : #ProvingGrounds500

While each competitor had to carefully select and navigate their roster to make the Playoff Chase, each also started with one driver assigned to them based on their relative position in standings at the end of the NSSCRA Pick 'em Regular Season compared with that of the NSSCRA Regular Season standings.

For the Championship Round, each participants roster would be reduced to just a single driver that must be among the NSSCRA Championship 4. For each V&T Racer NSSCRA Pick 'em Playoff Chase Challenge Championship Contender, if their originally assigned driver was still on their roster entering the Championship Challenge Round then that driver would be locked onto their roster as that contestants sole selection for the Championship Round. If a participant's initially assigned driver has been eliminated from the NSSCRA Chase then they will be assigned a new driver for the Championship Challenge Round through the following priority order:

1) Participants whose initially assigned driver is still eligible will be assigned that driver for the Championship Challenge
2) Participants whose initially assigned driver was eliminated in an earlier round but who replaced that driver slot with a driver who A) is still eligible and B) has not already been assigned through 1) will be assigned that driver for the Championship Challenge
3) Participants whose assigned driver has been eliminated from eligibility will be assigned a Championship Challenge roster as follows:
--- In order of current position in the NSSCRA Pick 'em Full Season Standings with preference to highest position
--- Highest finishing driver available based on NSSCRA Chase Round 3 standings who has not already been assigned per 1 & 2.

CHAMPIONSHIP 4 ASSIGNMENTS

@DCarJR - #46- Thea Alvarez

@skiia - #73- Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal

@melvin_tha_gr8 - #81- Drake Stevenson

@Trixie0921 - #64- Alfonso Mercado

Each of the four Championship Challenge contestants will be earning great prize packages from Vilita & Turori Racer including all expenses paid behind-the scenes admission to the Vilaye Clash All-Star Exhibition during NSSCRA Season 15 where the Championship Challenge winner will be offered the opportunity to waive the green flag.

And so, here we are...the final showdown for the titles that NSSCRA can give out. The last 25 races have seen so much drama already, from fights to scandals all everything in between, but now...we're at Race 26 and so the focus has to shift. Tundra Falls in Newmanistan started this long journey and now, as is tradition, Tundra Falls must now act as our finish line. Four drivers in 2 series, representing 5 different nations, must now duke it out for the right to become the new champion - a fact guaranteed in both thanks to the Chase. The anticipation continues to build and build...so now, let's see what lies ahead of us...and who will be in the best position heading into tomorrow.

Qualifying for the Proving Grounds 500 would see the tension reach a new fever pitch as those in the Chase and those who are not squabbled for every position they could get. It did feel weird though as Oliver Marlin Racing aren't here to close the season as bank runs back home have caused a bit of chaos, which meant that we would have 2 extra spots in the non-Charter pool for those to take advantage of. Those who will take part in this finale will be Anna Star Joy Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe (P14), Ashley Matthews (P31), Joachim Murat (P35), Wang Anjiao (P37), Lightning Zhang (P39), Todd Underhill (P41), Mariusz Psikuta (P42) and Rolf Goldwyn IV (P43) while the two open charter slots will go to drivers from the ECS no matter what went down later. In terms of HM, Lam Chow-Cheung will start in P25 and Aurélia Karvonen in P36 as they hope for a good finish to their season. For those in JR not in the Chase, Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) will start in P16 and Michael "Kaiser" Stefan (@Stefan07) in P7 - both looking to provide support wherever they can. In terms of the Chase, we now have the tiniest of advantages as Alfonso "Cyclone" Mercado (@AM64) pulled off a brilliant lap to claim pole over Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal and Chris Holmes, setting up a battle of all battles tomorrow, with Thea Alvarez starting in P9 and Drake Stevenson in P12.

Meanwhile, the Proving Grounds 400 would spell the end for the EverLong Contender's Series this season and we had another cracking battle in store. Jixaka Motorai would take pole over Adriana Kowalski Ela Lillian and Edmund Flanders with Axel Chase (@AxChase) starting in P8, Kaarina Salo in P22, Alice Jepkosgei (@AJ96) in P26, Chaser Ilmari Pëkannen in P32 and Gongming Gao (@GG70) in P36. This race would be absolutely chaotic but in the end, it would be Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine who rose to the occasion to claim the NSSCRA T2 Crown over Pyotr Lavrentiev and Marcus Alan Ariel Reynolds. Ilmari would come home in P4, a great effort by him to pull that performance off, with Gao coming home in P7, AJ in P15, Chase in P20 and Salo in P22. It certainly was a fun season for those down there and I hope they can move on to better things next season!

So then...who's gonna win it all tomorrow? I don't really know...but it will be fascinating nonetheless. Cyclone, Drake, Rinzi, Thea - you all deserve this crown for your own reasons, but only one can claim it.
I wish everyone the best of luck...and may the best driver win.

IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS

The fourteenth season of NSSCRA will come to a conclusion tonight with the running of the Proving Grounds 500. Twenty-five races have led us to this, and now four drivers have a chance to call themselves a champion. Will it finally be Thea Alvarez's time to shine? After all, she has come to Tundra Falls as a championship four driver on several occasions, and is the one that Rocket Motorsports driver Daryl Calhoun is really rooting for. "Thea's a great driver, and a great person. I know that sometimes people have their doubts about her, but she has plenty of ability. Look at how she rebounded from last season, and the disappointment there. Jeremiah and Stacie are great teammates for her and will help her whenever they can. So will I, if I am in that situation." Also rooting for Thea is Ashley Matthews. "We've been hauler neighbors for years, and she's always been good to me, and respectful of me. Never looked down on us, or that we were not worthy of being next to her on hauler row. I like the others too, but I know Thea has been so close so many times, and it would mean so much for her."

Not everyone on Rocket Motorsports is rooting for her, with Chelsea Taylor telling us that, "I kinda hope Mercado wins. He's a good guy. I like Thea, but that whole thing with Ilya (Tsunopin), it was a little disappointing. Mercado and Stefan just mind their business as a couple, stay out of controversy, and it would be cool to see them go back to back." However, when I ask a lot of Newmanistanian fans who they would like to see win, the consensus answer is surprisingly Drake Stevenson. Said one fan, "Gotta love Drake. Dude is always creating controversy or attention to himself, but man, he backs that up. I bet NSSCRA wants anyone but him to win, so I am rooting for him. Go eighty one!" Rinzi fans should not feel left out from Newmanistanian support, as Amanda McAlister said, "Rinzi was always the good one. He deserves it!"

Pre-race activities are lasting all morning, so plenty to do at the track now as we await the final race! Good luck to all!

While Thea Alvarez was trying to deal with the monumental task given to her of winning the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup for St. Kanye and Gale Force Racing, her teammates, the power couple of Jeremiah Brooke and Stacie Houston, were in a much more relaxed mood. Being off the Championship Four means a lot less pressure on their part, so they were able to use the week's break before the season finale for other things, like taking their son Jericho to the park, viewing the vacation home they were planning to buy in Valentine Z, and taking part in the festivities surrounding the Nimban Grand Prix at the Crossbay Circuit in the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System (or the Nexus Wardship for short, or just the Wardship for shorter).

Despite being two of the biggest names in the NSSCRA circuit, the world of racing is a lot broader for Jeremiah and Stacie. The two of them follow several other stock car leagues on television like the Sherpa Empire's IRACT and Hapilopper's HASCAR, but also open wheel competitions like the AOGP and of course the WGPC, which the Nimban Grand Prix is part of. Jeremiah especially was rather fascinated by the home team, Nexus Racing's choice of vehicle, the light blue, eight-wheeled, Imagination-powered contraption known officially as the Ultra High Speed Ground Vehicle Five (Nimbans really rivaling the Valentians when it comes to giving their stuff long names, huh) and more commonly as the way shorter and easier to remember "Chase Cutter". Well, he's always thought it was a weird vehicle, but also had this urge to try out for himself if it drives as weird as it looks. Thankfully, with the help of fellow NSSCRA driver Shuzhen Zhu and her connections, here he was, finally granted an opportunity to make good on his original twii. Not only that, he had also successfully convinced his wife to go along for the ride, literally and figuratively.

But the Stacemiah pair were not the only stock car people that had made their way to Nimbus Bay that day (hey hey). Zhu was of course there, wanting to relive her days with Nexus Racing, it seemed like. Cocoabo #28, now with Team Tsunopin, was there too. But perhaps the biggest news was the addition of Kai Qiang and Drake Stevenson to the mix - the most famous and the most outspoken driver in the field, respectively.

Stacie's eyes met Qiang's, after which she gave him a nod of acknowledgement; Jeremiah waved to Zhu and once again thanked her for her help in getting them there. He was about to approach Drake as well, but decided against it when he noticed a sour look on the Hap's face, at least from where he was standing. Sure, given everything that had been going on in Drake's life at that point, this may be caused by a lot of different factors, but the thing was, the battle for the win with Jeremiah himself several weeks ago in Jalton was one of them. That was most likely a "Why is he here? What is he even doing here?!" kind of face.

"He's still not over that?" Stacie asked when Jeremiah told her about it.

"I suppose," came the reply. "I mean, I'd apologize, but now probably ain't the time for that."

"Well, don't sweat it, Brooky. The time for that will come."

"I just hope it doesn't escalate into something off the track, you know? I like the guy. He's cool, when the media's not hounding on him for every move him makes, that is."

"Yeah, I agree with you on that. Just so much happening in his life, feel like he's in dire need of a break."

"I mean we all are, aren't we?"

A couple of hours later, both Jeremiah and Stacie were strapped into their Chase Cutters which they'll be taking several laps around the circuit in. This was certainly something new to them. They've been in stock cars in NSSCRA (of course), sports cars in iROS, and even modified dirt racers in the Berman Brothers Classic, but this will be their first time in an open wheeler designed to be used in the WGPC, eight wheels or not. The engine seemed to be emitting a kind of screeching wail accompanied by a rush of air, something strange considering the two were more used to the rumble of the V8 in their Chadwick Infinites. Stacie gave a fascinated "Ooh....", not only from the sound but also the futuristic glow of the driver displays, while Jeremiah, despite appearing calm on the outside, can't contain his excitement on the inside. He had a desire to just push all the buttons and pull the levers inside the car despite not really knowing what they all do, but managed to control himself, deep breaths and all that, until the command came for them to start driving.

While the Chase Cutter looked to be on the bulky side, it certainly didn't drive that way, the couple managing to accelerate and turn with ease. "Man, this thing runs like a dream, and my presence here feels like a dream too...." Stacie couldn't help but say. Jeremiah knew he won't be able to buy one from Nexus even if he had the money, though he did wonder if he'd at least be able to gather data for the simulators back home. He enjoyed driving side by side with Stacie, blowing her kisses a few times (which were returned in kind), and despite having Drake behind him, didn't feel uneasy. He figured Drake would be wise enough to not run him off the course or at least make unnecessary contact - remember, these are open wheelers, not stock cars.

When the NSSCRA driver parade ended, the couple were the very last to get out of their cockpits, savoring the last few seconds of being in those incredible machines. But once they did, they were all smiles, waving to the gathered crowd. "Thank you, Wardship!" Stacie exclaimed; Jeremiah added, "Hope to be back here again next season!" But of course, the fun wasn't all done. They explored the surrounding areas of the track, marvelling at all the futuristic tech that made modern Kardashia and its skyscrapers look like rural Guilin in comparison, taking lots of pictures and selfies to show to Thea and the rest of GFR back home. Over the several succeeding days, they also attended racing-related seminars and a concert at the track grounds, as well as a remote controlled car race (which while they didn't do too well in, still provided them much fun). And of course there's the race itself. Jeremiah and Stacie found themselves rooting for the Nexus cars, the same model they'd just had so much fun taking for a spin, in addition to familiar faces like William Archer and iBen Toralmintii. When Janne Laukkanen, one of the Chase Cutter drivers, took victory, the couple were among those who went to victory lane to congratulate him and ask him to sign hats and a Chase Cutter toy meant for Jericho.'

Later that night, they flew back home to St. Kanye to rest up for a few days, before heading over to Newmanistan for the Proving Grounds 500. Once again, neither of them are still in the title fight, but they still had the opportunity to help their teammate out, maybe even finish the season on a high note themselves if all three of them finish well. But whichever driver wins the Multiversal Cup, they'll just be happy about it, because they'll all be deserving of it. Thea is a perennial bridesmaid, and it would be good to see her finally strike gold on her latest trip to the Championship Four. Rinzi has won the most out of anyone this season, and a title will only solidify his dominant performance (Jeremiah also has a soft spot for him - despite their different religions, he greatly admires Rinzi's belief and trust in the big man upstairs). Mercado is out to prove that Jaguar Racing is one of the premier organizations in the league, that he and Michael Stefan are also a power couple to be reckoned with, and that motorsports excellence transcends sexual preference. As for Drake, after all the bad things he's been put through not just this season but in the other seasons as well, maybe it's time to end it with something good for once. No matter who it'll be, they'll be present once again in victory lane to share the winner's joy.

After a season that started with so much promise, I'm surprised we didn't actually fall out of the Top 16 in the points the way we finished up. Just to rub it in, we finished dead last in the final race of the year. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that @TeamTrop Multiversal Cup Series Ride just isn't going to happen for next season and I might have to start making some other phone calls. Still, just want to say thanks again to all the fans and to @InuraTea for coming on board to support us this season

Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton won this race over Tsering Chu and Jeremiah Brooke.
A non-Chaser podium on Championship 4 Day.
Funny how things work sometimes, huh?

Alfonso Mercado came home in 12th, another fine season from him that I hope he will build on for this next...even if there may be pain deep inside.
Thea Alvarez came home in 11th, her 7th Championship 4 ending just like the rest.
Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal finished 9th...not that he really cared, of course.

I guess it does make sense.
The universe has been nothing but a bitch to Drake Stevenson...so finally, she grants him something.
Drake has managed to put away the demons of the past...and claim the crown for himself.

We did what we needed to do after that.
We put all of our gold armbands in a box and delivered them straight to Team Blue.
Cause they belong to them now.
We shook hands with Drake and even a few hugs because, despite our differences, he fucking deserves this.
HM would do so after us...because that made sense to them.
Lam would say it best after his handshake: "Finally! Fucking finally!"

Our 6th season ends in the title changing hands...but also with hope.
One day, we will be back to claim that crown...but we can wait.
Now, we must rest...and prepare to become the hunters once again.

See y'all next time!

Kai Qiang and Tsering Chu both felt pretty good as they parked their cars at the end of Proving Grounds 500. It was a little disappointing not to be in contention for the championship, but at least they both got to end the season with a strong finish, and soon they would be home in Guilin for some quality time with their children. They congratulated Drake Stevenson on his first NSSCRA title, and then it was off to a nice restaurant for dinner.

After dinner, Qiang thought it was time for a drink to celebrate the end of another season, and he invited Tsering to toast with him. The nice Hapiloppian whiskey that Drake bought him was back home in Guilin, but he had something else that he thought would be almost as special. He reached into the suitcase that he'd used for the trip to the Nimban Grand Prix, and pulled a bottle of glowing blue liquid out from under the piled clothes inside.

Tsering looked startled and horrified, and she immediately gestured for Qiang to keep the bottle away from her. "You smuggled that out of the Wardship?"

Qiang nodded. He smiled as he poured himself a glass. "Are you sure you don't want any?"

Tsering was quite sure. "I don't think it's a good idea to drink that," she signed. "Don't you need some kind of training to use Imagination?"

"It can't be that hard if they trust machines to do it," Qiang replied with a sly grin.

At this point, it should probably be clarified that the substance in the bottle was not pure Imagination. It was a "blueberry liqueur" that Qiang had purchased from a bootlegger in a back alley in the First City, and then smuggled it out of the Wardship. It contained enough Imagination to tie your shoes telekinetically and enough alcohol to sedate a horse. Qiang took a sip and winced as the strong taste of the alcohol hit is his tongue.

"What does it taste like?" Tsering asked, curiosity getting the better of her.

"It's really strong," Qiang replied. "It's supposed to be blueberry liqueur, but I can barely taste anything but the alcohol."

Tsering looked confused. Wasn't alcohol illegal in the Wardship? She was pretty sure she remembered seeing a notice to that effect when they were going through customs. "I thought alcohol was illegal..."

Qiang took another sip, but this one didn't catch him off guard like the first sip. "I don't think the guy I bought it from had a liquor license. You know, this stuff is really strong, but it's not bad if you're expecting the kick."

He finished the glass and sat there feeling pleasantly buzzed. And then he realized the feeling wasn't pleasant anymore. In fact, he felt really sick. He fought back the nausea and the wooziness, and tried to pretend that he was okay. But he wasn't okay. What happened next was a blur, but he woke up the next morning in a hospital bed hooked up to an IV. A nurse told him he should be more careful what he drank and gave him a lecture on the danger of impurities in homemade liquor.

When Qiang was released from the hospital, he would have liked to just go home and quietly forget the whole incident -- but that was not going to be possible. For starters, Tsering wanted to know how (and why) he had found a bottle of illegal Nimban liquor after only a couple of days in the Wardship.

But more importantly, someone had started a conspiracy theory saying that he was poisoned. So Qiang was forced to make a public statement to set the record straight. People were naturally curious about why Qiang was in the hospital if he wasn't poisoned, so they asked questions, and pretty soon the whole story was public knowledge.

So much for ending the season on a high note...

Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Tundra Falls, Newmanistan
The Proving Grounds 500 – the closing stages

The Hapiloppians – the many thousands of Hapiloppians – that had made the lengthy trip to Tundra Falls for the season finale could sense that something special was happening. So too did all of Team Blue. So too did the commentators calling the race for the Hapilopper Television Network. With just a few laps left, Drake Stevenson led the other three Chase contenders, and if the race ended at this point, he would be the NSSCRA champion. But Drake wasn’t thinking that. He was thinking about a way to get ahead of three more cars, three more drivers, and he would be the race winner.

Competitive to the very end, Drake wasn’t thinking about beating three other drivers, he was thinking about beating 45 others. He wanted to get by Gwen Tracer Allison. He wanted to get by Tsering Chu. And he REALLY wanted to get by Jeremiah Brooke, that worm, but wondered if Brooke would try to knock him out of the way, in an effort to help Thea Alvarez’s championship hopes. And for a brief second, it seemed like Drake was going to take a chance. But then John Malloy told him to lay off, saying that the championship was his if he could just hold position.

So, taking advice, Drake laid off. He’d let the front three race amongst themselves. He’d just hold fourth and race defensively. He crossed the start finish line and saw the white flag fly over his head. Just 3.5 miles to go.

All across Hapilopper, fans watching the race live dropped into a standstill – a deathly quiet standstill. The commentators for the Hapilopper Television Network dropped into a similarly quiet standstill. What if something happened? What if Drake blew a tire? What if he ran out of gas? What if someone dumped him and wrecked him?

Through turns one and two, Drake held position, holding his line as the front three battled amongst themselves. There was a buffer of several cars between himself and Rinzi Zakhilwal, running 9th.

Along the backstraight, Drake held his line again – not wanting to cut anyone off, risk a crash or risk something stupid happening. You could hear some screaming from fans in the infield and fans in the stands. That screaming built more and more as the field ran through the third and fourth turns. And then, on the frontstraight, pandemonium erupted.

“HE DID IT! HE DID IT!” screamed HTN play by play commentator Michael Bowers. “DRAKE STEVENSON IS THE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!!!”

Drake lifted the goggles over the bill of his helmet, put down his window net and waved at everyone, as John Malloy and other crew members screamed in his ear. It was the truth. The most glorious trophy in all of automobile racing belonged to Drake Stevenson after all these years, after all these frustrations, and after all these ups and downs he had gone through.

As he took one last lap around the Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, to find some of the Hapiloppian fans having jumped the inside barriers, he thought about the long road he had gone on. He thought about the time he bet on himself – deciding he had just about enough of HASCAR, and that he’d try for glory in the World Grand Prix Championship. But a few self-inflicted errors came his way, and Drake found himself sapped of all desire to go on. He had found himself driving a car he had no idea about, he had found himself in a place he wasn’t enjoying himself at, and he found himself wanting to go away from it all. Maybe going back to HASCAR.

But then Team Blue called again, and it was time to go back to stock cars – where he truly belonged. It was there that he started winning races again. But there was still things bothering him. There were personal issues that had impacted his ability to produce on the race track. There was a personal level of doubt – did he truly belong here? And on top of that, there were personal shenanigans going on that distracted him from the goal of winning races. The lurid fanfictions, the ridiculous music video, people trying to drag him to things he wanted nothing to do with. It all boiled over earlier in the season when Frank Bronson tried to find someone for him to go out with in Kimi-Suomi.

Drake thought about all of that as he made it to the start-finish line, where much of Team Blue was waiting for him. He waved at everyone as he brought his car to a stop at the line. Al Shelton, the new team principal for Team Blue, held the checkered flag in his hands and handed it to Drake.

“I’m going to do one more lap,” Drake said as the crowd started to surround his car. “I’m going the other way.”

So as the team started to move back away from the car, Drake drove off, spun the car around, and started on one last lap, going the opposite direction, so his window faced the fans. On that one last lap, he thought about how things had gone so right since the problems in Kimi-Suomi.

In spite of the fact that Drake had won that day, in spite of the fact that Drake had dominated that day, it was pretty much accepted that the weekend in Kimi-Suomi, where the prize for victory was two hours in a sauna, that weekend and the time in the sauna represented the low point for the team. It was questioned if Drake would even come back to the team. And at one point, it was seriously questioned if Preston Autos was going to pull the plug on the team, even though the automaker really didn’t want to. It was the last thing Jim Preston wanted – after all, he had three drivers he loved. He loved Drake, the leader of the team; Chris Holmes, who had grown into something the team could be proud of; and he really loved Rinzi Zakhilwal, who Preston saw as the exact kind of driver they wanted.

As Drake came to a stop, he was greeted by so many people – by Al Shelton, by John and Lawrence Malloy; by Chris Holmes and by other drivers; and by William Mathis, the President of Hapilopper. Eventually, it was time to climb out, and when he did, he stood on the window of his car, picked up the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup trophy and stared at it for a while – specifically where it said “NSSCRA MULTIVERSAL CUP CHAMPION DRAKE STEVENSON” – before turning around and showing it off to the fans.

When he got off, HTN’s Doug Goodman – who received the right to conduct the interview as Team Blue’s host broadcaster – came up to talk to the new champion, the new top dog of international motorsports.

“Drake, you’re finally the World Champion, how does it feel?” Goodman asked.

“Well, I just… it’s cool,” Drake started as he looked at his trophy. “I just know though that, with the season he had, Rinzi deserves this as much as anything and I just wish we could share it. Because to me, he’s as much of a champion as any of us. He’s the reason this team came back from the doldrums, and he’s the reason this team became what is now. This is Rinzi’s team just as much as anyone.”

“But from now, until the end of time, Drake, you will forever be known as a NSSCRA Champion. Think of the ticker tape parade coming in a week!” Goodman declared.

“Yeah, it’s going to be special, I know that much,” Drake said. “But this isn’t just my title. This is our title. This is Team Blue’s title. This is the championship for everyone that works on our cars. This is the championship for the guys that build the cars, that sacrifice their weekends and their nights, they could be with their families, they could be with their wives and girlfriends, but they’re so committed to winning that they’re in the shop building these cars for us. This is the championship for our pit crew guys – they helped get us out front of everyone when it mattered. This is the championship for Jim Preston, Marty Lewis and Shawn Hammer, because they kept the lights on when it seemed like we were done. This is the championship for Chris, Angela and Zack Holmes, and this is the championship for Rinzi, Tashi and Mohammad Zakhilwal. And this is the championship for Taylor Henderson. Because this team is family.”

Drake looked back at his crew, fans and family, and then looked at the camera. His next thought came straight from the heart.

“I just hope that, when next season’s over, all of those people – the Team Blue crew and our families, the people at NSSCRA here in Tundra Falls, our competitors, and the folks at Multiversal can all look back at us and say ‘We were proud to have him represent us as our champion,’” Drake said, speaking from the heart. “That’s my biggest goal for next season. I want to carry the flag for the greatest racing series in the multiverse and carry it with pride. With class and dignity. Because it’s not just me, it’s the NSSCRA.”

Epilogue
A couple of weeks later

That ticker-tape parade that Doug Goodman mentioned was as wild as advertised. An estimated three million people lined the streets of Hapilopper City from the Team Blue shop down to Hamilton Square, the sentimental center of town. It was nothing short of a wild party, and when the team got to the square, Drake and many others gave impassioned speeches about the importance of the NSSCRA title to the fans of Hapilopper.

“We always say we do it different here,” Drake said to the immense throng of people. “And we do. It just means more here. It’s just that more damned important here. And this championship – it’s not just mine. It’s all of yours. But before I leave, I need to ask Taylor Henderson to come to the stage!”

The crowd erupted as Hendo walked up.

“Taylor, this is yours as well,” Drake said. “You know, pretty soon, we’re going to have a new addition to our new family. Why don’t you announce what this new addition is.”

“It’s a boy!” Taylor said. “Coming next year, Kenneth Carl Stevenson!”

The crowd erupted with glee. That’s the closest thing that Drake wanted for a gender reveal. No fireworks. No destruction. No stupidity. Just straight forward announcing it. But there was one more thing to come. Taylor didn’t notice that Drake had gotten something out and had dropped to one knee. But the people at Hamilton Square had and started to erupt. When she turned to see what all the hubbub was about, it shocked her – in a good way.

“Taylor, let’s do this right,” Drake said. “I want you to be my wife.”

Taylor didn’t even hesitate.

“Of course I will!” Taylor said as the crowd erupted again.

By the time the next season started, Drake and Taylor weren’t just planning a new addition – they were planning their wedding. But they knew that next season wasn’t going to be easy. They knew that the other teams were going to be working to get ahead of Team Blue for next season. They knew that the battle for NSSCRA supremacy was going to be tougher than ever. Not just among guys like Chris and Rinzi, but for guys like Kai Qiang, Jeremiah Brooke, Stacie Houston, the Valentians, Tsering Chu, the Vilitans, and many, many more. But for now, it was time to relax and enjoy the long-awaited offseason. When they got home, their first act was to put Drake’s new NSSCRA trophy next to Hendo’s. It was a reminder that this was a household of champions. For now, today, tomorrow, and until the end of time.

Drake Stevenson, Hapilopper and Team Blue will be back.

The Valentians – Race 25 – Multiversal: PTCCU Auto Loans 300, Oxyrhynchus-Ring, Oxyrhynchus, Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony, Abanhfleft (Short Track- DIRT TRACK); Everlong: Visit the Fhulghamous! 200 Presented by the Fhulghamous Peninsula Tourism Council, Oxyrhynchus-Ring, Oxyrhynchus, Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony, Abanhfleft (Short Track- DIRT TRACK)

Exuberant Superintendent T-2000/2904-3 Surveillant Clarissa Alanis Star Breya « La Amoureux Chéri » Millie Taissa Butterfly Mélody Coraline Jolijn Trini Clementine Hollie Samantha Zeta Harumi cheerfully and happily clapping, looking at Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye standing on the podium alongside Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal and Islago Tizilna, holding her 2nd place medal with her helmet in her other hand. Once again, with a thousand flashes on top of her own shine, Anastasia's face was radiating, and it was all the more amazing for Clarissa and the rest of the Valentians to look at. A moment to take in for Clarissa, herself looking at the score that she has obtained. It was an 14th, which, by all accounts, is a relatively decent finish, though had it not for that one moment where she was shoved to the bottom of the race and nearly getting DNF'ed. Though of course, the miracle was from her for being able to climb back to her original position and keeping it to 6th consistently throughout the entire race. The last part was attributed to the other racers getting the better of her, and Clarissa was more than happy for that, maybe too much.

With the race coming to an end, Clarissa (and a couple of other Valentians) figured that they could run a small Q&A session that would not only let them answer questions about the season itself, but also about themselves, such as about their life and their personality, for instance. Fast forward to the session itself, would be Clarissa sitting alongside the other Valentians, already wearing her usual evening dress that became one of her more iconic and common styles. "Who do you think might win the race for tomorrow?" Clarissa processed it for a while, nodding and talking to the other Valentians at the panel, and then answered the question, "Well, perhaps other than Gwen, I think no one else can tell for sure! Oooh, Jolyn and Gwen will know, yes, but that might be cheating a little, hahaha! As for my guess? Hmm, not sure! I might chalk it up to Kai Qiang, or maybe Anastasia, Gwen, or Michael Stefan. Other than that, again, I think we will save questions like that until we got the outcome in the form of an actual race. Thank you for asking though, it's a good question, especially considering how hectic it is becoming as of now!" There were also a few more questions here and there along the way, all of them about NSSCRA itself and how they are finding the other drivers. "So far, no rivalries between us. We know and understand that at the end of the day, we are all just doing what we do best, and there is nothing personal involved. The Valentians race clean, and try our best to not get someone bumped off, and the others are doing the same! Come the end, it does get challenging!"

Then came the more personal questions, specifically aimed at Clarissa for the most parts. She did not mind becoming the center of attention for that moment, and neither did the other Valentians. In fact, they have all been very accommodating, with Clarissa sitting in the middle of the panel. "I hope you don't mind this question," one of the audience members – a relatively big fan of Clarissa – asked, "And I mean, it's just for curiosity sake. Do you ever feel like others think that you (and maybe Adriana) are valid drivers?" Clarissa was a little stumped by the question at first, not because she was offended, but because she was unable to interpret what he meant by that at first. As a result, she took a few seconds to access and look up through the NSSCRA rules, and then eventually got herself the answer. "Oooh, don't worry, my friend! I know what you are trying to ask, haha! Hmm, yes, the rules of NSSCRA, as far as I can remember, does say that all of the cars must be driven locally, as in with a driver inside. There can be no remote-controlled cars! Yes, I believe that is indeed a rule! And as for the validity of us regarding this, I was able to prove that from the days of NSSCRA 8, all of the systems and controls were from within my body, and that there are no external stimuli. In other words, I was not controlled by anyone outside, and neither was I using robot shells to control a separate body from a distance. Adriana and I function that way, and that was as good as any other human and- err, organic drivers! Now, of course, that also comes to the follow-up question, which I'll add on."

"There also comes with an idea and insinuations of whether or not that constitutes as cheating, not just from the traditional means like bigger fuel tanks or modified engines, but just from the drivers themselves. Once again, we are more than happy to answer questions like that, and we won't be offended!" The rest of the Valentian drivers agreed with her, all of them nodding their heads and flashing up a smile, "To evaluate further, a few others might have a bit of a rather misinformed belief that we have the unfair advantage compared to the other drivers. For that, I will say that I believe our results speak for themselves. We are not consistently in the Top 20s, let alone winning one race after another. Additionally? I mean yes, I do have billions and billions of data points that are being fed to me – the data about the car, its engine, the tires, the oil temperature, and many other important data that I believe I will need. To be clear – yes, I am able to process all of this data to evaluate and spit out possible courses of action that can help me get an edge compared to the other persons. At the end of the day, however, it is simply data! Myself, along with Adriana and other robots of Valentine Z, can do a lot of amazing things with them, but in the end, we are still limited by the performance of the cars themselves. I believe the last part is very important in that aspect."

"Clarissa, I hope you don't mind, but why is that especially yourself and Anna seem to be very happy almost all the time?" Clarissa and Anna looked at each other at that moment, pretty much amused, and definitely happy that they were noticed for that. Clarissa, of course, went ahead with this in a way that she believed is an elegant answer. "Oooh, I can answer this one as well! Well, it is all about the history of the Valentians, really! We've been through quite a fair lot, and from the ashes of the past world, we developed and made something happy and wonderful for ourselves. We won't call ourselves a utopia, because the concept of that is rather difficult, and even for us there might be a lot of people who may not be able to live here for any reasons. That is more than okay, of course, because at the end of the day, I believe that we are doing pretty well, and for billions of people and other beings! Now, as for my happiness, I like to think of myself just as a happy robotic soul, haha! On a more serious note, though? Well, I am happy because I am here answering questions from all of you fans and non-fans alike. I am happy that, perhaps minus an incident or two, all the drivers that we have been racing against and together have been an absolute delight and sweethearts to work with. I am happy and joyful, because of our involvement with a lot of these countries that we might have never otherwise saw had we not joined NSSCRA first and then the rest of the other sports. We have missed a great deal of events and people because we came in late, but I'm glad with where we are. Being surrounded by all of these genuinely happy, nice, and compassionate folks have also worked wonders for me – from a shocked and lost robot who nearly strangled to death the closest person she could find, to that person becoming my now-wife, I am more than confident that I will be living with the Valentians until the very end of time, which Gwen has reassured me that it may not happen anytime soon. And as a result, I'm very content and joyful."

"That is also a reason as to why I take losses with stride at the end of the day. Sure, there is no doubt that I – along with the rest of the Valentians here – have gotten irritated, annoyed, and even angry at the thought of not being able to score a win, or getting into a DNF. In the end, I strongly believe that we will be here for many seasons and years to come. It's a shame that we came in late, but hey, you are never too late to build up quite a history! That is also why I am looking forward to NSSCRA 15, while doing something during the break! Oh, and before I forget, I'm sure Anna will be able to tell you guys as to why she is so happy as well! Or the other Valentians! But yes, that's for myself! I would say that half the time, it is my programming, and to love and be compassionate to both friend and foe of mine! And of course, the other half is thanks to all of you wonderful people, for making us feel belonged!"
