Welcome to the Premier Professional Basketball tournament in the NS Multiverse. This here is Abanhfleft, the fifth president of the esteemed International Basketball Organization, calling in nations one and all to signup for the 32nd edition of the International Basketball Championships, otherwise known as the IBC. Anybody can signup, and users can submit up to 1 puppet (which must be declared). Be warned that puppets will be the first to be purged if the need arises to create a round number for the competition.

How do you signup? Well, like every other NS Sports competition besides a select few, just state your intent in the thread. Looks something like this, perhaps?

Host bidding is open for anyone who thinks they can tackle the task. Host bids don't necessarily require anything by rule, but if you want any shot of winning hosting rights, you should include information on format, scorination method, and RP bonuses. The tentative deadline (subject to change) for submission of host bids is two weeks (+two days) from the time of this post, ending at around 12:59am Philippine Standard Time (UTC+8), on 15th July 2021. After that, there will be a week-long period for IBO Committee Members to send in their votes for an eligible host bid. At the end, the host will be selected based on the vote count, and signups, timing, & everything else with IBC 32 will be turned over to them.

In the interest of time, if there are 3 hosts bids for the IBC, cutoff for host bids will simply be 24 hours after the 3rd bid is posted.

***ATTENTION***

Abanhfleft's term as president of the IBO is about to come to an end following the end of this IBC, and thus it is time to hold elections for the next president.

According to the IBO Constitution Article III Section 3: Any IBO member may nominate any other IBO member for the Presidency. All members who are nominated for President will be placed before the IBO as candidates for the Presidency unless they state that they do not wish to serve as President.

Because of this, nominations need not be seconded. Any IBO member, even me, is available to be nominated. If you're an IBO member, please telegram this nation, International Basketball Organization, with your nomination (if you have one). If you want to reject a nomination in the event you receive one, TG this nation in advance (or just post on the Discussion Thread, that way nobody bothers nominating you in the first place). If you're not sure who's on the committee, check the OP of the discussion thread, the information is current. Remember also that the vice president is simply appointed by the new president after their election.

The deadline for presidential nominations will be the same as the host bid deadline, 2 weeks (+2 days) from the opening of signups. July 15th, at around 12:59am Philippine Standard Time (UTC+8). Voting will be held concurrently with host voting. Thanks all, and please send in nominations!

Chromatika's Bid to Host the 32nd IBC

Hosting Experience:

Also: 12th U-18 WC, WCoH 18 and WBC 36, WB 41, Playoffs of NSCF 22, NSCF 23, and NSCAA 12

IC information:

A group of islands located in the far northeast corner of Anaia, Chromatika is a land finally getting back on its feet after overcoming an apartheid caste system and going through a messy first free election. Gone are the days of the Chromatik Party through the efforts of the Rainbow Revolution; the Rainbow Party, under the new leadership of Keri Wyse Aart, is making strides on correcting past wrongs and uniting the Chromatik populace to be one people working toward the same goal.

A very strict nation in terms of recreation, smoking of any drug is banned in Chromatika to Chromatiks; any visitors are to express their intent before entering the nation. Drinking is allowed but only in moderation at designated restaurants and bars; personal possession of alcohol in one’s residence is also prohibited.

Please fly to Anaia, namely Ramusok (Cosumar), Quebec City (Quebec and Shinguryeo), Cathair (Audioslavia), Busukuma (Banija), or Jhanna (Starblaydia) before flying to Chromia.

Chromatik basketball is still developing, as the CBA continues to grow. The Penguins have had moderate success at the IBC, and hope to continue their climb.

Format:

The goal of the Group Stage is to help teams gain some RP bonus while also making sure that we don't get burned out. For a sport like basketball, I believe that more group stage matches are better to guarantee a "season".

32 Teams - 4 Groups of 8 Teams, Double Round Robin (14 Matches, Home and Away), Double Scorinated Matchdays spaced every other day, with top four teams from each group advancing to playoffs
40 Teams - 4 Groups of 10 Teams, Double Round Robin (18 Matches, Home and Away), Double Scorinated Matchdays spaced every other day, with top four teams from each group advancing to playoffs
48 Teams - 6 Groups of 8 Teams, Double Round Robin (14 Matches, Home and Away), Double Scorinated Matchdays spaced every other day, with top four teams from each group advancing to playoffs
50 Teams - 5 Groups of 10 Teams, Double Round Robin (18 Matches, Home and Away), Double Scorinated Matchdays spaced every other day, with top four teams from each group and the four best fifth placed finishers advancing to playoffs
56 Teams - 7 Groups of 8 Teams, Double Round Robin (14 Matches, Home and Away), Double Scorinated Matchdays spaced every other day, with top three teams from each group and the three best fourth placed finishers advancing to playoffs

For the 32 teams and 40 teams format, the playoffs held in Chromatika will start with the Round of Sixteen. For the formats starting with 48 teams and above, there will be a Play-In Round (Round of 24) to decide who makes it to the Round of Sixteen.

For the Group Stage, tiebreakers will be as follows: Wins, Head to Head Wins, Head to Head Point Differential, Point Differential, RP bonus.

In all formats, the playoff teams will be seeded amongst where they finished by virtue of Wins and Point Differential (all the first placed teams seeded, then the second, etc.) Then, they will be put into a single-elimination bracket. If there is a Play-In Round, teams will be reseeded after the First Round. In the first round, pairings will be swapped around to make sure there are no group stage rematches.

The goal is that from MD1 to MD14 (or 18), it will take two or two and a half weeks (7 MDs every other day or 9). Then, after an off day, the playoffs would happen in consecutive days, with an off day between the Semifinals and the Final where the Third Place Playoff would take place. Ideally, the tournament will take no longer than three weeks.
