[Draft] Commend Sierra Lyricalia

Postby Marxist Germany » Fri Apr 19, 2019 9:35 am

Commend Sierra Lyricalia

Category: Commendation | Nominee: Sierra Lyricalia | Proposed by: Marxist Germany

The Security Council,

Believing that it's the Security Council's duty to commend nations for their outstanding behaviour such as that of Sierra Lyricalia;

Lauding Sierra Lyricalia's previous role as World Assembly delegate of Anarchy and its current role as Principal-Agent;

Recognising Sierra Lyricalia's brilliant General Assembly resolution GA#354 "AI Coexistence Protocol" which gave sentient AI the same rights as other sapient beings in member states;

Noting the excellent efforts made by Sierra Lyricalia's ambassadors Leo Pavonis and former Stephenie Zakalwe's in debating and improving many important resolutions such as GA#307 "Anti-Counterfeiting Pact";

Amazed by the bravery of ambassador Zakalwe's successful rescue of Separatist Peoples' ambassador Bell Benjamin who was ruthlessly kidnapped using only her rocket pistol;

Acknowledging the issues brought to the international community by Sierra Lyricalia such as "Voters Place Your Bets" which highlighted the issue of betting on election results and "A Proselyte to Burn" which concerned the issue of how much free speech should be given to citizens;

Awed at the achievements mentioned above;

Hereby, Commends Sierra Lyricalia.

Second attempt at an SC proposal, feedback is welcomed.

Ok, no mention of GenSec work? Is that not allowed in SC resolutions?

#724 appears to have been first published in 2017, after LL's resignation as an Issues Editor. Should this be taken as an assumption that all work done by Issues Editors after taking post - even if they do so after leaving post - is taboo material for C&Cs; that #724 was originally submitted during LL's tenure as an Editor; or is this a situational issue only applicable to resolutions targetted at SL and their puppers?

I think it's pretty well written, if a bit on the brief side. Its worth noting that I believe SL is in The Red Fleet, which you could mention activities against fascist/nazi forces. I could be wrong on that, but I don't think I am.

I’ll be honest I think it’s a bit lightweight for a Commend. You’ve already had to remove or not use material because of R1 and what’s left isn’t much.

Yes it’s tidily written, but in terms of commendable actions there’s not really a lot there.

If you are continuing with this I would suggest expanding on their involvement in debates—what resolutions were they impactful on? Why?

I think a case can be made for SL; you aren't making it strong enough (yet).

While this may have significance to the GA regulars, it means absolutely nothing to the vast majority of GP.

It's from the same RP that was mentioned in Separatist Peoples' commendation and my condemnation. The fact that it "means absolutely nothing to the vast majority of GP" is irrelevant. That said, (1) as Herby pointed out, the statement is not just an exaggeration, it's factually incorrect (as well as a grammatical mess), and (2) as much as SL played a crucial role in the RP, his character, while integral to the plot, was merely a supporting character, a role that not only could have been played by anyone else, it was played by... I want to say, five or six other characters as well.

SL has done so much for the GA community, and is worthy of a commendation, but including his supporting role in this one RP diminishes his accomplishments.

I would love to see SL commended, but I do agree this is really light weight. You might try including some stuff about his regional contributions to Anarachy. I don’t know much about them, but you could ask his region mates. They were also discussed during SL’s last commendation attempt so reading through that thread might be helpful. Here’s the link to that:
