What would Steve Jobs think of Apple today?

Postby LimpBizkit » Sat Feb 24, 2018 2:17 am

In honor of the late Steve Jobs' birthday, let's discuss what he would think of his former company today.

I think that he would be a big fan of innovative products like the Apple Watch and Apple TV, etc. But I don't think he would approve of things like removing the home button on the iPhone X or the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 because he'd see that as disabling what the user can actually do. I think he would like the design of the iPhone up until the 6 and it's variations, and doubt he would take the apple pencil seriously.
The Creeping Barrage is the name given to a method of firing artillery. At the beginning of Trench Warfare the basic tactic was to fire lots of artillery at enemy trenches for a sustained period of time and to stop firing just before the infantry attacked. However this method wasn’t very successful as the German had built strong bunkers and were able to man the defences in the time between the bombardment ending and the infantry getting to the trenches. A solution to the problem of the time lag between the bombardment and the arrival of the infantry was to change the way that the artillery was fired. Instead of just aiming at the same target the creeping barrage moved forward at a prearranged pace.

Actually, Steve had nothing against removing common features.

Example? Find the floppy drive on the first iMac.
Capitalism, single-payer healthcare, pro-choice, LGBT rights, progressive personal taxation, low corporate tax, pro-business law, welfare for those in need.
Nazism, edgism, dogmatic statements, most of Abrahamic-derived morality (esp. as law), welfare for those not in need.

Male, gearhead, classic rock fan, gamer, agnostic.
Not sure if left-libertarian, ex-libertarian or without a damn clue.

fair enough, though it still had a cd rom. (clearly a better option)
removing the headphone jack or the home button is just absolutely unnecessary and neither are going obsolete like floppy disks were.

A better option after some time.

The removal of floppy drives was as controversial as no 3.5" today - CD-ROM was as new of a technology as wireless headphomes today, and most data was still circled around on floppies.

And I wouldn't bet against 3.5" or the home button becoming obsolete - I had no problem switching from a phone with physical "return, home, list" buttons to one without, and once wireless headphones get cheap enough, I'm buying a pair.

I really want to hear his opinion about 3D emojis. If you like it, more power to you, I respect that. I just cannot stand the face of the emojis, that's all.

Oh damn, my bad. Then yeah, for this part, I guess he will still like it?

I have a feeling that he might also knock love Apple for taking out the USB. I mean, USB 3.0 will be replaced by something better in the future, but in the meantime, you need to make sure that your device is still compatiable with all the accessories! Same applies with 3.5 mm headphone jack!

Assad wasn't the only brutal Syrian dictator.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be proof of a pan-Islamic plot and Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand, crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of mentally ill lone wolves who do not represent their professed belief system at all.
