When did you hear about that? I hope YouTube does take down those videos.

Quick search on the YouTube removing videos and I was bamboozled by the Internet on the Tide Pods being discontinued

They're not.

So we still have Tide Pods?

I was about to say that would block out half of NSG's population but on second thought that's not such a bad idea.

This would violate some of our most hallowed traditions. Such as the annual April mod purge for example.

Tide is looking into adding an extremely bitter layer to the tide pods. That'd do it just fine. Before bittering agents were added to anti-freeze, you could chug that shit like a motherfucker, mix it with gin and make something seriously delicious.
Mostly, just make it taste so disgusting that the body rejects it outright.

It's amazing that a few people die due to a stupid meme and we all have to do something about it.. but guns..

we don't "all" have to do something about it. Tide makes some minute changes to their product (which they're in the process of doing) and this whole thing washes over
it's much ado about nothing.

consider that DNP spent over a decade as an acceptable weight loss drug

Off topic, but I find this shit to be hilarious in a darkly ironic way. Tide pod chan best girl.

Also, you can't stop teens from being stupid and seeking attention. Tide's been doing a fine job of handling the situation.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission also found that elderly adults with dementia were confused by the product and have also ingested it.

Clearly it's a mental health issue..

A person with demetia could confuse anything with anything, they often can't even recognize their own relatives. Not Tide's problem, tbh.

My view, and I think a lot of people’s view, is that parents need to keep them out of reach of young kids. Teens need to stop being dumb and trying to be famous by almost killing themselves. Adults who eat them are clearly not the type of people that we want reproducing but they should just not eat them and not die. And elders with mental health problems should not be able to reach them.

I sort of feel if you're making a highly dangerous household product, don't package it up in bright colours and looking like a sweet.

I'm not sure they can do much about teens being dumb, though one could argue that making it look edible doesn't really help. I don't exactly blame Tide, and prior to this meme they did add a double lock mechanism and the bitter taste.. but I'm also pretty sad about posts thinking it's fine for people to die.

Really..

They anticipated small children eating it thinking it was candy. They actually redid a lot of their packaging because of such concerns. I don't think anyone in their right mind would think that a functional equivalent to drinking bleach would become the first big meme of 2018.

They didn't 'anticipate'..

Consumer Reports reported that "since early 2012, poison-control centers nationwide have received reports of nearly 7,700 pod-related exposures to children age 5 years and younger."[7] Tide Pods sent one child to the hospital per day in 2012 and 2013, with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tagging them as a health risk in 2012

It took til 2015 until they added a bitter taste and double lock mechanism.

Look, I'm not exactly blaming Tide as the entire culprits though I do think they could have made potentially lethal, popular household products, a little less appealing in terms of colourful packaging. For the meme part, sure these teens are dumb but, again, it doesn't excuse people on these boards being perfectly happy that people die.

There's things Tide can do, like stop making them look like sweets.

Sure, possibly, but this is an everyday household product, it's kind of one of those practicality over safety things even if that assumes parents thought this was a clear danger.

Again, they don't have to make them look like sweets. I doubt this meme would have occurred if they didn't look so much like edible food.
