YN's Average Internet Speed

Postby Mangahhan Super Region » Fri Jan 12, 2018 6:50 am

How fast is the internet in YN, is it fast or slow or even not at all. Internet speed can be measured by kilobytes per second (kbit/s) or megabytes per second (mbit/s).

32 Mb/s
A representative democracy with a parliament of 535 seats
Currently centre-right on economy but centre-left on social issues
Located in Europe and border France to the right and Spain below
NS stats and policies are not canon, use the factbooks
Not in the WA despite coincidentally following all resolutions
This is due to a problem with how the WA contradicts our democracy
However we do have a WA mission and often participate in drafting

For a nation that's main income is from the Information technology sector*, we could proudly say you can get 8 TB/s (8,388,608 MB) internet speed for only 499.99** smug anime waifus!*** An additional of 99.99** could be paid for wireless installation.

*Nation wide internet coverage is available for free, although maximal speeds are capped at 256 MB/s.
**Tax not included. National tax rate for internet services are 100%.
***Wireless hot spots only allow for a maximum of 10 AIs at any given moment (unverified). For unlimited access, please register at the Overseeing Body for Violent Intent of Online User Sabotage (OBVIOUS).

Highspeed fiber optic cables in cities and towns. people in the country while cables are on the way get fairly high speed with great suffering in desolate areas.

Well, my nation is an interdimensional empire. Survived the Big Freeze and caused the last Big bang to happen. In their realm the Universe is 20 billion years old. So their empire is even older than that and most likely more advanced than what a human mind of this age can fathom. Probably many, many yottabytes per millisecond

BITS. KiloBITS or MegaBITS. It's weird and counterintuitive, but they use bits, not bytes.

Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.

Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats except in the Kerbin roleplay. Factbooks to come.

Jebslund is NOT just Germany with a different name, and has nothing to do with Jeb Bush (Jeb in this case refers to Jebediah Kerman).

The average speed is 200 Mb/s. This is in part caused by the fast speeds offered by the state ISP - the smallest package has 75 Mb/s internet.

Postby Palmyrion » Fri Jan 12, 2018 7:22 pm

Palmyrian households on average have an internet speed of 25 Mbps. Research institutions have it higher - the entire Royal Commonwealth University system has an internet speed twice that, the intranet used by research institutions in the Department of Warfare has a speed 10x that, and the Palmyrian Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Service Agency (more like a union between the USGS and NASA) has an intranet with a speed of 100 Gbps.

Mobile data via sim also has an internet speed of 25 Mbps, and the Bureau of Information Technology under the Department of Commerce has standards for internet connection that must be followed by all ISPs (ex. your physical connection lines must be fiber optic, must have this and that connection protocol, what bandwidth must be complied, etc.), and these standards are updated accordingly to provide a satisfying Internet access experience for Palmyrians.

Weekly data caps for mobile devices connected via SIM must not be lower than 7GB (ideally a usage of 1GB per day over a 7-day period), and monthly data caps for ISP subscriptions must not be lower than 150GB (ideally a usage of 5GB per day over a 30-day period).

It depends where you are. In most urban areas it's very fast, over 20 mbps. In rural areas it is considerably slower and less reliable, with some areas in the north still having no internet access at all.
