I just read Jennifer Government, the novel that inspired Max Barry to make NS. However, I can't tell what the book has to do with NS. Can someone tell me what about the novel inspired him to make NS?

I'm not sure how many people have actually read the book as a result of this website, but it's been a remarkable success in and of itself. I never actually read Jennifer Government myself, largely due to the fact that I haven't found it in either Finnish or English in a bookstore. Might check it someday, but currently have enough reading with Count of Monte Cristo and the Metro/Метро serie (for like 20th time)

Well, boy were they wrong.

They missed the RP potential.

NationStates seems to originally be a part-simulation, part promotional and part-satire until the players saw roleplay potential and then took it from there.

This website has evolved so much ever since it's creation. It used to be a promotional website for a book and it now has it's own active political/news/RP/arts forums.

I've been using it since 2010 and it's so nice to see medium-sized forums endure in an age where everyone seems to be moving to bigger "forums".
