A beginner's guide...

The WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest aims to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

  1. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song whenever they choose, and after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate, nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Nations may not vote for themselves.
  2. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used but at least 80% of the lyrics must be re-written. Translations of real-life songs will result in immediate disqualification.
  3. Nation's are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative.
  4. It is compulsory to vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
  5. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation; the master nation must confirm their puppet. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
  6. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
  7. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification.
  8. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
  9. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process.
  10. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
  11. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
  12. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Polkopia, Mister X, Todlichebujoku, Yttribia) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

WORLDVISION 45 - THATCHER CITY, MISTER X

MAKE IT HAPPEN

Image

Mister X welcomes you back to Thatcher City, which hosted the 34th WorldVision Song Contest, and, just like in WorldVision 34, will take the contest "back to basics". In Mister X, we pride ourselves on the fact that everyone has the chance to MAKE IT HAPPEN in Thatcher City, and we invite everyone and anyone to Mister X.

Thatcher City is prided upon its fantastic mix of old and new, with the likes of The Park Cottage, a 120-year-old hotel-cum-stadium, which hosted the 34th WorldVision Song Contest, blending in seamlessly with the epic skyline of Thatcher City Centre. It's the oldest city in Mister X, and yet it is the most modern.

THATCHER CITY - A GUIDE

Image

Thatcher City can guarantee you a fantastic view across a fantastic river, especially at night, where every night people come together to party the night away after a long hard day's work. People are, generally speaking, able to do whatever they like, all with a stunning backdrop of the Heath river, which serves to make sure that Thatcher City has some of the cleanest natural water supply in all of Mister X.

"But how do I get around?", I hear you ask. Well, fear not, for Thatcher City has, thanks to the transport budget, built its own metro system, enabling you to get to anywhere within one hour. Specifically, the map has been designed so the shortest route between any two stations will be no less than one hour in duration, but we won't blame you if you take a detour, there's so much to see and do! The trains are also automatic and have all been fitted with the necessary safety precautions and air conditioning. Some people come together to hold regular competitions to see who can do the entire network in the quickest time.

At night, Thatcher City comes alive. Thatcher City never sleeps, from working hard in the day, they then spend their massive wages amongst Thatcher City's nightclubs and bars. Thatcher City's night time economy accounts for a vast amount of Mister Xian GDP. This sprawling metropolis is the perfect backdrop for the 45th WorldVision Song Contest.

THE ARENA

Image

Having hosted WorldVision 34 at The Park Cottage, this time we will invite you to a brand new stadium, the Churchill Arena, in the south of the capital. Over 5,000 more people can be packed into the Churchill Arena, and this multi-purpose venue can host a variety of events, including music events, televisual competitions (such as the finals of Strictly Come Dancing, Countdown, and Deal or No Deal - Champion of Champions), and sporting events.

Churchill Arena was opened two months ago, and the top two association football teams in Mister X, Thatcher City and Majorium, battled it out in the MX Cup Final. Thatcher City defeated Majorium in the final minute thanks to a goal from teen heartthrob Dan Burn in the final minute. After WorldVision, cricket's Mister X One Day Cup Final will be held at the arena.

LOGO AND STAGE DETAILS

Image

This year, our logo carries a flaming torch, representing a beacon of hope to all of the acts participating. The flaming torch is an iconic design used for many decades, and for WorldVision, it will also represent a beacon of light, in order that all of the artists will be able to get along peacefully, shining light in an otherwise darkened world.

Image

The stage has been specially constructed for the Churchill Arena, and WorldVision would be its first use. It extends slightly into the audience, allowing your acts to leave the main body of the stage and proceed along the extension.

POSTCARDS

This year, the postcards have been designed so as to incorporate your country's national flag as easily as possible. The flaming torch shall be replaced with your country's flag, encapsulated in the circle of WorldVision.

We have done two examples based upon the Mister Xian and Kasanova-Koratican acts for the 44th WorldVision Song Contest, in order that we might show you what occurs if your nation has a particularly long name:

Image
Image

That concludes the Mister Xian WorldVision 45 host bid. We would be delighted to have WorldVision back in Mister X, so come and MAKE IT HAPPEN!

When we say "back to basics", the number of opening acts, interval acts, etc. will be massively scaled down, in order that the entries get top billing. WorldVision as it should be: less is more.

The pictures are meant to be at that size, in order that they are iPhone-friendly (at least on my 4S!).

ETV has announced that it will return for the 45th WorldVision Song Contest, with Hello Convention representing Elejamie with their song I Miss You; with a possible proper return to the competition depending on how the song does. Cerin Erali and Flynn Taggart have also been confirmed as co-commentators, as usual.

RTVK confirms, Kalosia is back once again! Currently there is no public information about the entry, other than the fact that it has already been chosen. There are rumours that a former Kalosian WV entrant might be up on the stage again, but which one could it be? 21 acts have represented us so far since our debut in WV21, after all.

I've already decided that the song will be to the tune of Red Queen by IU ft Zion T.
Meanwhile, I know too which song I want to send next edition (already!) so I'm calling dibs on Extraordinary by Clean Bandit ft Sharna Bass for WorldVision 46.

I'm currently considering bringing back my puppet Saviera (for those of you who don't know yet, yes that is mine).

Brittany does need a separate sign-up post. As I (Mister X) was fairly inactive during the sign-up period last time, be warned I'm being extremely intolerant - and so please, please, please confirm your puppet nation, one sign-up for each nation - the master nation must confirm the puppet nation. For this reason, Britonisea is Estogium's puppet (as that's how it Estogium/Britonisea appears to have signed up).
