[PASSED] Commend Anime Daisuki

Postby Ramaeus » Mon Mar 10, 2014 6:53 pm

This will be up for awhile; that gives everyone (including me) plenty of time to look for anything illegal. I don't want a repeat of what happened last time. *grumbles*

ImageCommend Anime Daisuki

Category: Commendation | Nominee: Anime Daisuki | Proposed By: Ramaeus

The Security Council,

Noting that the government of Anime Daisuki also controls Goddess Relief Office,

Impressed by Anime Daisuki's leadership as a defender in one of the largest and most enduring defender organizations, Ten Thousand Islands Treaty Organization (TITO; based in 10000 Islands), through coordinating and commanding hundreds of defenses, uncovering numerous invasions, participating in the defenses of several hundred regions, possessing incredible attention to detail, and creating numerous tactical techniques for the betterment of all defenders,

Acknowledging Anime Daisuki's diplomatic skills, having fostered relationships with many defender allies, including: The Founderless Regions Alliance (FRA), Alliance Defense Network (ADN), Renegade Islands Alliance (RIA), Yggdrasil Defense Service (YDS), Texas, and Pacific Defenders, devising joint military operations throughout the world,

Applauding Anime Daisuki for the numerous regions it has refounded and secured for displaced native populations, notably:
  • France, which, had it not been refounded by Anime Daisuki, would have fallen under the possession of Macedon—a formerly prolific raiding and imperialist organization,
  • India, whereby, under the leadership of Anime Daisuki by the joint forces of TITO and YDS, amongst others, control was seized from the raiding organization The Dominion,

Further applauding the numerous missions Anime Daisuki has led, including: The Siege of South America, notable for the tremendous amount of support from participating parties over a lengthy time period; and the involvement of over 200 nations in The Siege of Rajahland, with both missions resulting in defender victories,

Recognizing Anime Daisuki's authorship and co-authorship of multiple resolutions, notably:
  • GA#53, Epidemic Response Act: establishes a framework for recognizing, containing, preventing, and curing epidemics and pandemics,
  • GA#223, Transboundary Water Use Act: mandates that member nations use transboundary water resources responsibly,
  • SC#30, Commend 10000 Islands (co-author): acknowledging the ongoing positive influence to the world by one of the largest regions in the world,
  • SC #44, Commend Texas (co-author): recognizing a historical and influential region,
  • SC# 108, Liberate South Pacific: liberating a region of historical significance,

Respecting Anime Daisuki's role as delegate of 10000 Islands, expanding one of the most influential regions in the world through concerted recruitment efforts, overseeing over 1,000 delegate endorsements, and encouraging WA authorship,

Appreciating that Anime Daisuki, through the nation Goddess Relief Office, has created and maintained the stable and enduring region of Yggdrasil, home to a few hundred nations and The YDS,

Recognizing Anime Daisuki's extraordinary abilities as a defender, admiring its persistence and diligence, even in the face of mounting odds, thankful for its defense of regional sovereignty and the protection of nations it defends, respecting the dedication and innovation it has brought to our world, and believing its actions worthy of the highest recognition,

Hereby commends Anime Daisuki.

For anyone that didn't know, this failed because of a reference to the game. It "passed" by about 80%-20% despite many people knowing this days before the deadline.

I have full confidence that this will pass (again) because of Anime's widespread achievements and because of the excellent work of delegates informing voters of the proposal. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, although I recommend looking at the original proposal here first.

Thanks!

Would it not make more sense to commend the GRO, instead of AD?

As Anime was my mentor and trained me when I first started defending I would like to say he also instilled in me strong belief and respect for native rights. To "leave no footprint" on the regions we defend to ensure that the least amount of disruption is caused to communities.
Defending is just part of what Anime has accomplished but it is in that area I have spent the most time with him. He has my respect, admiration and full support of a commend.

'Anime Daisuki' is, AFAIK, Anime's oldest nation and certainly the one most well known around Nationstates. I'm not sure why you think GRO should take precedence.

I would like to make more explicit in the proposal how revolutionary Anime's belief in the "leave no footprint" policy was to defenders, as, now that you mention it, I also believe that this is one of his biggest lasting legacies.

Silentvoice should be AD's oldest nation.
But 'Anime Daisuki' is definitely the most relevant one for a good part of the actions described in the Commendation (TITO/10000 Islands work).

Can you take out the diplomatic skills mention? I'm not against a commend, he has done a lot for defending, despite the fact that I dislike the guy, but I don't think his diplomatic skills should be part of it.

We've already been through this in the other thread. While Anime had and has his detractors, his outreach to other defending organisations, and, more importantly, founderless and foundered communities throughout the world are unparalleled. He's not universally loved--goodness, we all know that--but time and time again, he has, using his diplomatic skills, gone above and beyond what is expected of a defender to provide security to the world's most vulnerable regions. As only a co-author, I don't feel I get a final say in anything here, but I think mentioning his diplomatic skills is critical to the completeness of this proposal.

Well, he's a humble man ;)

He agreed that he has had long-standing disagreements with people that he felt were discordant to his own beliefs about defending. Perhaps he held these for too long or displayed them too fiercely or in a juvenile manner at times. Although, it takes two to tango. But that's of little interest to me; you (and Sedge) should seek reparations to repair this directly with him if this is what you want to do.

EDIT: Wow. Totally the wrong word there!

What I do know, however, is that as a direct consequence of Anime's diplomatic skills, dillengnce to correct process, and unwavering dedication to stability and security in this game, dozens of founderless regions have been refounded or protected in other ways. I do not believe that any other defender has come close to his record and this is in part because of Anime's ability to foster good relations with nations within regions in need.

What he said. ↑

As opposed to cosmopolitan players that seed themselves in various regions to control or influence regions, Anime's interactions with other regions were done with a selflessness that is rarely found in diplomatic circles.

The Puddle Jumping Wads of Wrapper voted against the previous submission solely due to its illegality. We wish to vote in favor of this resolution; however, we find the following clause misleading:

overseeing over 1,000 delegate endorsements

What exactly does this mean? As of today AD has only five endorsements. For clarity's sake, and because the rest of the resolution stands on its own merits without this clause, we strongly suggest the removal of this clause.

You probably weren't around the other time. Anime Daisuki held the most endorsements on record in NS - 1k+ (can't remember), as delegate of 10000 Islands.

Then came TG stamps and 10000 Islands' population withered away.

I agree. I wasn't too, took me Ananke's reply and a bunch of old Yggdrasil Observers to get the full picture. ;)

Although practically all of my interaction with A.D. was via the subsidiary nation "The Goddess Relief Office" and I have only been a part of the region of Yggdrasil for a short period of time (well, compared to NationStates 'veterans' here), I can concur that this Commendation has solid grounding; I would be honored to count myself among those who will vote an emphatic AYE for this resolution once it goes to vote.

On further examination, I believe the respecting clause makes sense. "Respecting Anime Daisuki's role as delegate of 10000 Islands,"
You just have to look at the beginning of that clause. ;)

You guys know my opinion on commending for defending alone,so i'll leave it at that

Admiring Anime Daisuki's extraordinary abilities as a defender, admiring its persistence and diligence, even in the face of mounting odds, admiring its defense of regional sovereignty and the protection of nations it defends, respecting the dedication and innovation it has brought to our world, and believing its actions worthy of the highest recognition,

One nitpick though, what mounting odds exactly?,defenders have (/had) always the majority of WA nations
No,I don't speak for TBR,TBH,your mom, moderation or any other person/organization,just saying before anyone thinks that

I had an alternative ending, but Ramaeus and others were keen on this--I'll let him address if for you.

What I want to say is that I assume that by "commending for defending alone" you are actually referring to Anime's unparalleled defending status alongside his canon of WA authorships, his fostering of multiple well-established regions, and his work as delegate overseeing more WA endorsements than anyone has ever had before or since, all of which are outlined clearly in the proposal.
