Which is why in the past few years geologic activity has been on the rise. Plus even a smaller blast would screw up a good portion of the west coast for a while.

I have heard of no net increase in geologic activity in long valley, but regardless the source has been cut off so the risk of eruption is continuously decreasing with time as it cools. yellowstone will bury most (see image) of the US in feet to tens of feet of ash destroying food production, transport, and killing millions of people.
I know a few geologists who refer to the brown area as the fucked zone.
