Official Guide to The Jakran National Armed Forces

This is the official Jakran Government Guide to the Jakran National Armed Forces it is considered to be a Very Sensitive Document (VSD) secured document and is not shown to foreign nationals or those lacking VSD clearance. It contains a complete roster of Jakran Military Equipment, Uniforms, Manpower and Organization as well as basic background information on all branches of the JNAF.

Branches and Histories of the Jakran National Armed Forces

Jakran National Army
Oldest and largest branch of the Jakran Military, the original army was formed in 1703 after Jakra's independence was recognized by Sumara. This original army was formed from the Revolutionary Jakran Army For Independence (JAFI), and was renamed the Jakran Army. The Jakran Army was disbanded after the Enclave revolution alongside the rest of the corrupt military which President Kane had fostered in his rule. The JNA then formed on September 12, 1921 only days after the Kane government had fallen, at the original JNA was formed from ex-Jakran Army soldiers, PFSJ soldiers and PFSJ officers. Currently the JNA is a massive but well equipped force that serves as Jakra's primary war machine.

Jakran National Air Force
Third largest branch of the Jakran Military, original force formed in 1930 as President Cunningham led a build up of Jakra's military and economy. Originally it only consisted of one 12 plane squadron of Camel Bi-Planes and had a single base near Harsburg. Today it has over a dozen combat squadrons, a large force of support aircraft, and over 30 JNAF bases across Jakra as well as over a hundred joint force bases across Jakra and the world. Arguably the most advanced of all branches, the JNAF not only has state of the art aircraft but manages Jakra's array of communications, intelligence and research satellites including Jakra's space station "Icarus".

Jakran National Maritime Force
The second oldest and second largest branch of the Jakran Military the JNMF is Jakra's naval arm. The JNMF was founded originally in 1711 to protect Jakran merchant vessel as they traveled through pirate infested waters. The modern JNMF was formed in 1923 to replace the corrupt Navy of Kane and defend Jakra's colonial shipping lanes. Today the JNMF is a powerful and well equipped force, as of 2009 it is in the process of instituting "Nautica 2012" a revamp program to replace aging Jakran warships with newer designs,and to downsize the fleets and make them more efficient for Jakra's future use.

Formed alongside the Jakran Navy the FSMC's initial purpose was to provide guard contingents for naval yards and warships, and serve as special amphibious assault troops. Today the FSMC is primarily an elite combat unit, relinquishing its security roles to the Naval Security Patrol (NSP, equivalent unit to Military Police). The FSMC is considered one of the most elite units in Jakra's military, notably due to their tradition of exceptional marksmanship and precise use of explosive ordinance. The current Commandant of the FSMC is Gen. Charles Maxen.

Jakran Strategic Rocket Force
The latest addition to Jakra's military the JSRF is exclusively dedicated to securing, maintaining and if necessary using the Jakran nuclear arsenal. Due to the strategic nature of it's duties the JSRF is closely tied with the JNAF and often relies on intelligence from JNAF satellites to formulate it's Strike Doctrines (StrOces) which in event of nuclear war would serve as the President's battle plan. In addition to it's offensive role the JSRF is also responsible for coordinating and developing strategic defense strategies and weapons alongside the Air Force.

The Jakran National Armed Forces Council (AFC)
The Council consists of a representative from each armed service branch in the JNAF and is the highest ranking military command body, it is superseded in the chain of command by the Secretary of Defense and Commander in Chief, both of whom are civilians. However, the Joint Chiefs lack direct operational control over the armed forces and instead focus on policy initiatives and maintaining forces readiness levels. The Council runs the military day to day functions with the Secretary of Defense making more general policy based decisions. The Council's representatives is chosen Presidential appointment, the Chairman is chosen in a similar fashion. The Chairman represents the AFC when it's not possible or inconvenient to convene the entire body, thereby the Chairman is considered the highest ranking member of the JNAF. The current Chairwomen is General (4 star) ]Maria Lepanto.

The Civil Defense Guard
The Civil Defense Guard (CDG) was formed in 1910 to serve as an armed militia and defense force in the case of foreign invasion, in 1912 it's role was expanded to disaster relief when it was successfully used to control the Kitchagumee Wildfires which threatened the city of Hapsburg. Unlike most of the police and military forces of Kane the CDG never participated in repressive activities, this is due to Kane's distrust of such a citizen militia in fear it would turn on him if he forced it to maintain his regime. In fact, many PFSJ/Enclave soldiers came from the CDG and passed their experience on to their fellow revolutionaries. For this notable assistance to the cause, the new President Cunningham would allow the CDG to live on and continue it's invaluable service. In 1934 the Civil Air Guard (CAG) was formed to expand the CDG's abilities to defend Jakra from foreign aggression. The CAG mostly uses old air force planes, but has begun the practice of buying new versions of older models, such as the F-16E. This new policy has ensured the CAG has top quality if not latest generation equipment at it's disposal, a need which has become more important as the CAG and CDG in general have both been granted more responsibilities, notably border security and assistance of law enforcement. The CDG is commanded by the Civil Defense Bureau and it's highest ranking officer is General Carl Griswold who serves as commissioner of the CDB.

Light Attack/Transport: UH-144 Falcon, the UH-144B is the latest and most common model. It features an expanded and enclosed troop bay (6 passengers instead of 4) and has the ability to mount a greater range of ordinance on the wing stubs to make it a full fledged gunship.

Units and Manpower of the JNAF

JNAF Special Forces
The JNAf has a wide variety of special forces units with every major branch having at least two units, the special forces are centrally managed by the joint command structure SOCOM (Special Operations Command) known officially as FSSOCOM (Federal States Special Operations Command). While the individual branches manage and maintain their respective units, SOCOM serves as a joint command structure for missions involving multiple branches and better coordinating the flow of information to the various units and supplementing their individual branches' intelligence capabilities.

JNA Special Forces Units
The Jakran National Army has the largest contingent of special forces. The base unit is the Special Operations Group, of which their are seven active and four reserve groups. The Groups are assigned by region or continent and usually consist of between three and four individual battalions per group. The missions of the Special Operations Groups vary greatly but generally consist any of the following unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, direct action , hostage rescue, and counter-terrorism. The first two emphasize language, cultural, and training skills in working with foreign troops. Other duties include combat search and rescue (CSAR), security assistance, peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, humanitarian assistance, counter-proliferation, psychological operations, manhunts, and counter-drug operations. The Special forces troops also use special integrated combat armor which combines advanced ballistics protection with several prototype features (ie; shoulder rocket launcher) The seven groups are as follows;

In addition the SOGs there are a number of Special Mission Units, with a direct purpose behind their formation (ie; Counter terrorism)
-1st Special Forces Operational Detachment- Bravo "Machete Front"; Specialists in foreign counter-insurgency efforts, name is a reference to the Machete Wars, a series of low intensity jungle conflicts where they played a major role.
-1st Special Forces Operational Detachment- Echo "Shadow Force"; Jakra's primary domestic and foreign counter-terrorism force, while not legally allowed to operate on Jakran soil under normal circumstances (Posse Comitatus) but under extreme situations can be suspended temporarily. Shadow Force members use Mk IV Semi Powered Combat Armor instead of the usual combat suits and armor. Despite the suit's name implication it's muscle enchantments only help to offset the weight of it and any other equipment (rucksack, rocket launcher, etc) carried and doesn't give the user any particular strength boosts.
