A Message to the Universe (FT, Open)

Postby FarHalon » Fri May 11, 2012 4:46 pm

On the outer rim of a single arm of a common spiral galaxy, a star shines its dying light upon a world. Its red light reflects off the atmosphere of the planet, giving it an appearance of a steel orb rendered warm by a forge. This world is small, but it is not lonely; It rotates closely around its dwarf star, and three moons rotate around it. One moon is quite close, and very visible in the sky, but it's shape is not that of a moon, but rather that of an asteroid. A second moon is perfectly round, but the path it takes around the world is an imperfect ellipse, with it coming closer and going further every twelve months out of the year's fourteen, bringing the tides with it. The third is very far away, a green light emanating from its corrosive atmosphere, complimenting the red light of the nearby star.

The red dwarf's light glimmers on the sea below, the calm waves slowly disrupting it, reforming it, and compounding it. Water covers the entire planet, with the exception of three large continents. The southernmost continent has a very, very large mountain in the center of it, extending to the very edge of the breathable atmosphere. This mountain is devoid of vegetation, but the land at its base is teeming with life and civilization, with a jungle to the north, a desert island to the east, and pine forest along its foothills to the south. Cutting through this forest is a large and ancient wall, composed of an indestructible and irremovable alloy. South of this wall is a peninsula, and on this peninsula is the largest city on the planet, a city both tall and expansive, with metal skyscrapers extending into the clouds, and older stone buildings underfoot. In the center of the city is a relatively large open area, a circle, marked by three ornate structures; The Grand Shremple, the Court of Marsaeries, and the Citadel of the Path.

Within the Citadel, a man sits upon a throne, made from metal in the shape of a cross, with a large gem of differing types adorning each edge. He rises from the seat, seemingly unencumbered by the suit of silver armor he bears, and points toward a man in a white, grey, and silver robe. "Dotorum!" His voice resonates throughout the hall, where few people look on. "The time will come soon, with the rising of It's eye across the horizon. The time will come soon for this to end. Bring it forth, Dotorum, and begin the preparations!"

The man known as the Dotorum of Janeway nods, and motions for his scholars to get that which the Guardian asked for. They depart, and after fifteen minutes time passes, they return, bringing with them a large device. Stopping in the center of the courtroom, they set it down, and begin to hook up the wires required to run it. The device is a large, opaque, cylindrical chamber. It is hardly ornate, or sleek; It's wires are messy, like the hair of a man who had just risen from bed, and the top of it looks like it's own miniature city with how many antennae and transceivers must be on it. It may not be very pretty now..., the Guardian thought, But it will get done what needs be done. Appearance can be worried about later. He observes for another few minutes, and nods. "Excellent! I plan to communicate within the fourth hour. Come, Vindicator." He motions toward a man in black armor, streaked with glowing red wires. "We must discuss possible scenarios, strategies for our inevitable conquest of that which lies beyond our territories. What would you suggest we do if we find intelligent life through this project?" They depart the room, and their voices grow ever dimmer, and the scholars work late into the day.

Upon the setting of the sun, a great many people are assembled in the hall. The device stands proudly in the center, the mess of wires now producing a violet luminescence, and a light emanating from the interior of the chamber. The Guardian walks up to the chamber, and takes a deep breath. "The time has come." He pushes a button on his armor, and the power-lines that run through it activate, glowing blue. He places a golden crown atop his head, and steps into the chamber. The door closes, and the device within begins to spin and glow, scanning every molecule in his body. After a few minutes has passed, he speaks. As he speaks, the device transmits a holographic throughout the near eighth of the galaxy, to any devices that may receive it.

"Hail to you, possible denizens of that which lies beyond. I am He who Guards the Path, Aldar XVI Lucien, and I deliver you a message, from the people of Old Farhalon, the World of Autindaun, and the Shremplar Order itself. For one-hundred and fifty years our world has been united under the Path, and for one-hundred years we have been exploring that which lies beyond. We have been exploring new systems and worlds, gathering resources and knowledge, and expanding the territory of our people. And now, with the death of Guardian Vizad Ijhek, may Salvation come with ease, a new era shall begin. We shall no longer be in the dark, for the time has come for us to gather the most important knowledge of that which lies beyond. If you are out there, we request that you show yourselves to us, be it by transmission, or by coming us on your own, so that we may bring about the new era together. I thank you now for your time. May the Triad watch over you, and may your Paths be cleared." The Guardian reaches forward, and presses a button. The device slows, and he exits the chamber. He nods over to the Dotorum, and speaks.

"Make the preparations. If there is any other life, and they come to our world, direct them to the staging point on the moon Tunos. We don't want any aliens coming to Autindaun and spreading their false ways among the people."

The Dotorum looks over the battered surface of the moon from the shuttle as it flies to the city where the aliens are to be recieved. He turns away from the window, and looks at the nervous ambassadors. He nods toward them. "Worry not, my friends. It is unlikely that any aliens nearby are even intelligent enough to reach the level we have, let alone be able to hear our communications. This may as well be a vacation." He turns back toward the window. "And if the new Guardian's hopes do have merit, then, well..." He smirks. "Remember your training, and hope they aren't violent."

Hello! Thought It'd be fun to have some Future Tech roleplay, and so I made this. Some guidelines; Please don't come careening to my planet with a massive fleet of ships with the intent of vaporizing its population, vaporizing its oceans, vaporizing its moons, or vaporizing the planet itself. As you can imagine, this makes everything less convenient for everyone. Aside from that, though, just follow basic RP conventions and etiquette, and enjoy.

Mainframe Upload warr. Level II Potentials obs.

Caziv T'nameral opened his optics, then scanned the Nexus. The Eye must have awakened him from the Mainframe for a purpose, one warranting sentience further than that provided by the flowmetal consciousness. As his full awareness returned he noted a crimson glowglobe pulsing slowly, but insistently, just outside reach of his servo to the left. Reshaping his form into his preferred pre-Ascent humanoid figure, Caziv stretched out his hand and enclosed the glowglobe in a metallic fist. A datastream seared through his mind, the condensed voyage of the Versitani coursing through the Aviat's head like a clear drink of iced wine from the OldWorld. A mass collection expedition then. System 783:422:380-g destination. Then why had he been called forth? The world was still at least a few hours distant.

Ah, another glowglobe, radiating a faint mauve. Casiv's faceplater registered surprise. He was intimately familiar with the colors of the globes, having been on precisely eight thousand seven hundred forty-four voyages in various capacities. And yet, this one he had not seen for ages, nigh on two thousand rotations of the Prime. A contact, unidentified, and yes, even an inhabited world! Excellent, most excellent. They were above the Versitani in RealSpace, and would delay the trip, but no matter. It was generally agreed among the Ascended that cataloguing Potentials was the primary function of any voyage from the Planeships, and as such it was well that the Eye had pulled him from the Mainframe.

He stood from his seat in the center of the Nexus, and immediately a vast universe of glowglobes rose from the smoky black material of the floor and walls, dancing and circling around him as if he were the center of their existence and they his satellites. Which, technically, was true. Casiv's manipulators flew over the glowglobes like the master Commander he was, programming a complicated string of multiple datastream to be executed by the Eye. It began to emerge from the deep Flow of BelowSpace, then headed up rapidly into the Veil that seperated BelowSpace from the real universe above. The Aviat supposed he could have just merged with the ship, but old sentimental ties to beauty and color from his pre-Ascent consciousness made him an avid fan of the delicate dance that was working with the glowglobes.

The Eye breached into RealSpace with nary a shimmer in the space-time fabric, emerging like a graceful porpoise. It measured but 75 standard meters from stem to stern, and glistened faintly in the light from a nearby star with a black metallic gleam. Caziv strode to the wall of the Nexus, which shone silver briefly and then transitioned to images of the message in Galstandard and the planet in the immediate area, which were simultaneously overlapped on the visual surface but which his multi-level processor differentiated without any conscious effort. He observed the religious content of the message astutely, noting the interesting Trinity nature of the belief system. Quite different from the Omnissah. Intriguing indeed.

A ping echoed around the Nexus, and Caziv tapped his manipulators on the arm of the chair. A long stream of audio transmissive data came through, but the babble was unintelligible. The Ascended waited patiently as the Cognatus decoded it, and then a message rang into the chamber.

Caziv nearly clapped his hands in glee. A multiplanetary Empire! A class II civilization at the very least then. He quickly encoded a reply.

This is Aviat Caziv T'nameral, Ascended of the Mainframe, commander of the Eye Versitani. This ship was passing by your world in the Dive when sensors detected your civilization and recieved your message. It awakened me, and I have come to make contact. Be assured we have no hostile intent, and are merely seeking to learn more about the universe. At this point your species in particular.

One of the ambassadors came barging into the room, babbling something incoherently. The Dotorum's eyes shot up, clearly annoyed. He was a very, very busy man; What the hell did this impetuous whelp want?

"What the hell happened this time? Did one of the airlocks break again?" the Dotorum said angrily, overriding the nonsense the ambassador was speaking. "What are you waiting for? Spit it out!" The ambassador nodded, took a deep breath, and spoke again, this time more clearly.

"We received a transmission from that which lies beyond! There's someone out there, and they wish to communicate with us!" Now, it was the Dotorum's turn to be stunned. He could only sit there, mouth agape as he processed the information. After a moment's time had passed, he spoke to the ambassador.

"The Guardian was right; I can't believe it, the Guardian was actually correct!" The Dotorum flashed a quick grin, something he had not done for a very long time. It faded very quickly, which is something that the ambassador was grateful for.

"Quickly, then!" the Dotorum spoke. "Go forth, and summon the Marsaerian Sect; Tell them to go to the landing areas, and prepare formation. Then, route a message to the Guardian. Tell him the new era has begun, as we have received the message. The Ambassador nodded, and quickly hurried out of the room into the large domed corridor 'outside'. The Dotorum quickly slipped on his ornate robes of dark silver, and put on his ranking cloak while listening to the transmission that had been left on the desk. Luckily, it was audio-only, and rather brief, so he could understand it, or at least understood it as much as one could understand a synthetic voice spewing out lingual representation of encoded messages. Once the message had passed, he left the office, heading out to the city.

The Dotorum arrived in the central dome, and took a sharp left, into the communications room. The devices were still few in number, but their numbers were growing; There were now five in the unnamed city in which he stood now, and he expected the number to grow, especially now that the new era had begun. He turned on the device, which was thankfully already hooked up, and stepped within. The scanner spun, and once a few minutes had passed, he spoke.

"I am the Dotorum of Janeway, of the Shremplar Order of Autindaun. I speak for He who Guards the Path on this day, and will continue to speak for him until he decided to make his presence known. We will set out a repeating transmission, at a tri-variable frequency, so that you can locate the proper location upon the proper body in which to land. I repeat, we will set out a repeating transmission with the following tri-variable frequency." He paused, and reached out to a holographic touch pad, quickly punching in three numbers to send with the transmission. After pondering a moment, he punched in a few more numbers and symbols; ~95% Nit, ~4% Oxy, ~1% Other "The latter one is out atmospheric composition, so you may take the proper precautions should you find it corrosive to the flesh, or other such ailments. I look forward to meeting you in the future. May the Triad light your Path to Salvation." He ended the transmission, and sent it out. He left the chamber, and looked out the large window of the dome.

From his vantage point, he could see one of the landing pads, in all it's glory. It was a very large, elevated platform, with a semidome above it to keep the atmosphere contained within The platform, and semidome, suddenly ends at the end, with a singular, lightly glowing field protecting it's escape. Producing this field was a hemisphere attached to a rod, which was, in turn, attached to a module, no doubt to control the shape and structure of the field, most likely to allow an airlock of sorts between ships. Outside of the corridor was an enormous circular pad, where the ships were designated to land. Most of the ports had weak molecular fields generated around them to deter ships from landing, but this one was deactivated; No doubt to welcome the oncoming guests.

He looked back to the corridor, where he saw a squadron of Marsaerian soldiers marching into position. They all wore silver armor lined with glowing-red powerlines, and masks covering their faces to protect against both corrosive atmospheric effects, as well as the vacuum of space for a limited amount of time. Their breastplates were covered with a pseudo-cloth tabard, indicating their rank, squadron, and honors. They bore energy crossbows, glowing with the same red color, and on their sides was a baton, which the Dotorum knew would activate into energy hand-spears upon the flick of a switch. The men were well-armed, but the Dotorum knew that they would not use force unless commanded to or absolutely necessary. They were going to conquer that which lies beyond eventually, for it was the will of the Triad, but to intentionally provoke war now would be suicide. Heading at the front of the group was the ambassador he sent out, also armed with silver armor. It's power-lines had a white hue, though, indicating his differing rank.

"Now, all I must do is wait..." thought the Dotorum. "Wait for the New Era to officially begin..."

Corporation Eye Versitani, Caziv T'nameral Commanding Ascended
Mainframe Upload warr. Level II Potentials obs.

Caziv stood at the helm of the Eye navigating it closer to the airless moon, its grey orb reslendent against the blue-green world beyond. The locator beacon the Potentials had provided was an old near-infallible method of communication; triangulation was as old as spacefaring itself, and so it had been simple for the Versitani to calculate the point at which these creatures wished him to land. As his vessel descended towards the surface of the rocky barren planetoid he noted the sprawling habitations spread out like a vista before him; clearly this race had the resources to devote to the cultivation of an area inimicable to their undefended physical forms, impressible in a Type II civilization. Ahead of him a glowglobe pulsed softly, outlining what appeared to be a landing platform set over a large structure. Interesting data, the landing capabilities of their spacecraft. Most interstellar travellers abandoned atmospheric entry soon into their development for the benefits to storage and manueverability that the lack of ablative armor and structural supports offered, and then readopted it later in their progression to the Ascent as the technology to do so without losing said benefits became viable. He wondered briefly which stage these Potentials were at, then dismissed such lines of logic as irrelevant without further information.

Regardless, it was well that the Aviat had responded to their call in an Eye of the Ascendancy instead of a larger vessel, for he very much doubted the landing platform the Versitani was settling upon could have supported any other craft of Mainframe manufacture. Of course, the Eyes were designed for such a purpose, so it would only stand to reason that they could accomplish a landing at unknown and unforseen facilities.

As the Eye extended its landing talons and settled gently to the deck Caziv took stock of the landing party that waited to greet him. Perhaps a dozen beings awaited him on the deck, all clad in a shimmering garb that he took to be some sort of atmospheric survival suit. They were humanoid in appearance; indeed, they looked to be very much like the baseline humans that suffused much of the galaxy. He extrapolated for a moment, then decided to treat them as such until proven otherwise. Many of the younger races put great stock in appearance, and his present garb would frighten them, perhaps even cause an aggressive response. That could not be borne. It would be most unfortunate if he inadvertently caused hostilites and gave the Techsins a reason to classify them as devoid of the ability to reach their Potential. That would end with worlds burnt, and destroy a whole host of valuable beings and consciousnesses. Best to avoid it.

With a small effort of will Caziv focused on his physical form, and began to mold the flowmetal that was the vessel of his consciousness into a shape more pleasing to the eye. His blank metal faceplate flowed like water in a stream, swirling and eddying around invisible obstacles. His limbs melted, his triangular torso disappearing and wavering like smoke in a breeze. In a few moments his substance reformed, and he reached down to brush off his greatcoat. In the place of the 2.5 meter metal monstrousity he had originally inhabited now stood an aging man, a replication of the being he had been before his Ascent. Caziv stood about 2 meters tall, his jet black hair cropped not short but not long and tinged with silvery-grey, and a cropped goatee graced his square chin set off by very sharp facial features and high aristocratic cheekbones. He was clean of limb and slightly broad in the shoulders, but he gave off an aura of untold wisdom and great experience. The Aviat was clad in a grey-black greatcoat buttoned down the front with silver metal toggles, and at the sleeves and stitching it showed hints of crimson. With a crack of his new neck he stepped up to the side of the Nexus and tapped the wall with tapered pianist's fingers.

Since some of those in the welcoming party bore by what the Eye's systems standards were energy weapons he summoned two Servitors to accompany him into their base, a Munit and a Secrat. They formed quickly out of the walls, two stooped flowmetal constructs balancing thin lithe bodies on powerful legs, one heavy-set and in possession of the ability to form projectile weapons from its essence, the other with long angular limbs that would double as lethal weapons if pressed. With his guards properly created Caziv strode through the length of the Eye, emerging in the rear from a ramp that lowered as he walked.

The Ascended walked over to the Potentials as they waited on the platform with no concession whatsoever made to the vaccuum he strode through, and his Servitors flanked him at a respectful distance. He tuned into the Potentials suits with a small effort of will and spoke in their language to the one without weapons, adjudging that one the leader.

"Greetings. I am Aviat Caziv T'nameral, current representative of the Ascendancy of the Mainframe in your system. I recieved your invitation and have come to speak with your race and make contact with such fascinating Potentials." He smiled briefly, his white teeth glinting under violet-emeral swirling eyes.

The Ambassador looked toward the ship as it landed, and flexed his fingers in anticipation. As the exit ramp began to extend, he craned his head backwards, looking at the sergeant. He expected the Marsaerian Platoon to react incredibly quickly, should the aliens turn out to be hostile; After all, he was an Ambassador. He couldn't die, he was far too important, right?

As he turned back, he blinked, and his mouth fell agape. What he sees goes completely against all of his expectations; A human being, standing with nothing but a long coat in the vacuum of space, flanked by two metallic constructs of some form or another. He shuddered. They had only just recently discovered the eugenic capabilities to reduce the amount of oxygen needed for the human system to run effectively; If this race could survive the vacuum of space, what chance would they have if they were to attack? And what of those metal monstrosities? Were they simple robots, or were they some sort of horrendous bio-metallic combination? He supposed it would do him no good to dwell on the subject; He had to appear collected and calm, to show these aliens that the people of Farhalonian Autindaun had nothing to fear. He figured, though, that he wasn't doing a very good job at it.

As the alien approached, the two front-most soldiers flicked their energy crossbows on, the devices making a light hissing noise. The Ambassador extended his arms, and bowed, but as he looked up, he took a step back, almost stumbling over his own feet. It's eyes were unnatural, swirling pools of gods-know-what. For the briefest of moment, he had forgotten all of his training. He wanted nothing more than to flee back into the city, order the execution of this alien, and to convince the Dotorum to issue a city-wide lockdown. But this was only for a brief moment. He flipped a switch on his wrist when the alien came closer, and the orb generating spun and extended, re-shaping the atmospheric field to encompass the alien on it's approach, instantly replacing the former vacuum of space with a gust of warm, nitrogen-rich air. Once there was a medium by which sound could pass through, he heard the creatures greeting.

He gritted his teeth beneath his facemask at the word 'Potentials', and clenched his fists for a brief moment. What did this alien mean by that? Did he mean to try to conquer them? He supposed that it wasn't his business, other than in his soon-to-be debriefing, assuming he didn't get killed. His audio report would be heard by the Vindicator, and a decision would be made upon that, for that was the will of the Triad. He went back to a cool composure, although his stance betrayed him, and he flipped another switch on his gauntlet.

"Hail to you, Aviat!" He spoke, assuming that 'Aviat' was his proper title; Middle names only existed in isolated corners of his own world. "I dearly hope that the walk through the vacuum wasn't too painful for you. Before we begin, I should inform you that there are many specific policies that I must follow; The first and foremost, is that I am to be referred to only as 'Ambassador'. I cannot, and will not disclose my true name, for the safety of myself, my family, and my people." He nods, and motions for the alien to follow. "Come, let us leave this place, and go off to a more official area. Perhaps, if he is not busy, the Dotorum can meet with you." He turns, and begins to walk off. The twelve soldiers would remain stationary until the alien and it's entourage passed, at which point they would follow.

The City

The interior of the city was a bland network of very large corridors and tunnels extending off the corridors into private dwellings. A great many of the metallic buildings under the central domes were still under construction, and those that were actually finished were equally bland, containing no color or banners whatsoever. The only life within the city were a few patrolling squadrons, making sure that everything was under control and that there were no alien infiltrators. Eventually, it would be filled with life; The buildings in the domes would be converted into official embassies for the aliens, with banners for their flags and corridors would have smaller constructions for the businesses that would spring out once the word spread out to the general public. The ambassador suspected, that when the conversion of all of that which lies beyond had taken place far in the future, it would be a city dedicated to the citizens of the Shrempleist Union. Or, perhaps such a fate would come sooner, should diplomacy fail, and they be forced to convert them by force.

The Ambassador would lead the aliens to one of these large skyscrapers in the central dome, if the aliens should choose to follow him immediately.

13th 'Infelix' Battle Group, Extra-System Patrol, Amica (Fortis Class Vessel)

"Sir!"

Colonel Jacob Yany cocked an eyebrow at the young comm officer. "Yes?"

"Incoming transmission. Unknown source, general bandwidth."

"Well, get it on the bridgescreens!"

"Yessir!"

The image of a humanoid appeared on the screen. It was clad in some sort of armor, and was apparently wearing a crown.

"Relay transmission, same bandwidth, same strength. 'We have heard. We are coming.'"
"Sir?" The comm officer glanced at him, a little puzzled by the cryptic transmission.
"Just do it."
"Sending now."
"Helm...FTL towards the coordinates of origin."
"Yes sir. It will take three jumps. Calculating now."

Three minutes later, the Fortis class vessel and the lesser Festina ships shimmered and dissapeared into Jump Space.

The Dotorum heard a high-pitched whistle. He turned around, a bit shocked, at first wondering what the hell that noise was. Then, he realized what the noise was, and quickly rose from his chair. He had since had one of the transmission devices stowed into his room; It would make things far more convenient for him in the long run, he figured. He entered the chamber, and peered through the looking-glass. There was no image, but he heard a single message, short, and to the point.

We have heard. We are coming.

He sighed lightly. That message sounded very ominous, almost threatening. He would have to send a message out to the Vindicator, requesting that a few more beta-class ships be sent to Tunos's unnamed city for protection. First things first, though. He quickly punched in a few numbers on the touch-pad. He didn't feel the need to give a long, drawn-out response to these aliens; It seemed that they were blunt, and to-the-point, something that the Dotorum could admire. So, he quickly typed a message. "This is the trivariable frequency that you will follow." He punched three numbers, and continued. "This is our atmospheric composition, so you may take the necessary precautions." He then punched in the numbers, '95% Nit, 4% Oxy, .05% Neo, .04% CO2, .01% Other'. He then sent the transmission, and left the chamber.

He walked over to his desk, and opened a panel. He looked over the many numbers, pondering, and after a moment's time had passed, pressed a single button labeled 'Z-10'. A small clicking noise was heard, and then a beep, indicating that the device was ready.

"Ambassador, there was another transmission." He spoke. His voice would travel over a series of electrical wires, to a speaker in the Ambassador's quarters. It was a very basic and primitive system, but the Guardian felt no need to waste valuable resources to communicate over such small distances, which was something that the Dotorum advised him upon in the first place. "You are to open the second docking area, and summon the fifth platoon. Just remember your training, remember the protocols, and remember the will of the Triad."

"Yes, yes, I know the drill. I'll get right on it" A raspy, synthetic voice was heard through his own speaker. Ambassador Z-10 was as tough as the Immovable Wall. He was the first ambassador to have had the privilege to contact extraterrestrial life. On one of the worlds they had conquered, there was a primitive race, that had only just discovered gunpowder as a resource. The Ambassador was summoned, and tried to make contact with the race. The race was more barbaric than they had ever imagined, though; The Ambassador was shot in the leg, captured, and was interrogated by the inquisition that they had in place. He had been missing for weeks, and the Marsaerian Sect had found him just in time. They quickly slaughtered the musket-wielding aliens, and took Z-10 to emergency care. When Guardian Vizad Izhek was told about it, he ordered the race to be exterminated, saying that they were unworthy to find the blessings of the Triad. The task was completed in a matter of weeks, and the planet was settled by the Farhalonian-Autindaunians. This incident today known only by the Guardian, his Council of the Triad, and Z-10. The Sect that had found him were promptly given amnesiacs.

It was because of that incident that the Dotorum chose Z-10 for this particular race. He did not like wording of their message, and he knew that Z-10 would know if they were up to something. He said one last thing to Z-10 before cutting the transmission.

"Good luck."

Deep Space Mining Vessel

"Cracking the planet's inner core now sir," A lone Comms officer called from her desk, "Gravity tethers 3-9 coming online now."

The Captain of the ship sat in complete silence in the center of the Command room. Through the central window he watched as the once beautiful, red, planet was quickly broken apart in a matter of minutes. True, the entire process took several months of constant mining and controlled detonations in order to place the Nexus-Bomb that brought this utter destruction, but none of the destruction wrought under that thick, CO2 choked atmosphere was even noticeable to the planet-cracker.

Within shear seconds a red, luminescent glow illuminated the clouds that surrounded the planet, then suddenly it was gone. The clouds, that were once thick enough to conceal an entire armada, dispersed and revealed the true devastation of the planet. The entire northern and eastern hemispheres of the planet were completely destroyed, and in their place laid the strangely intact, inner iron core. Almost immediately, a series of blue-white rays shot out and 'grabbed' the core. 'Grabbed' because the true nature is indescribable, the rays formed a bubble, of sorts, that prevented the molten outer core and mantle from recovering the inner core. Then as quickly as the shield developed, it began to pull the core, literally yank the core from the planet. Following the core's extraction, the planet began collapsing on itself.

With the core successfully extracted a row of intensely hot laser began cutting through the core, and refining it into easily packable pieces which were immediately collected by the a fleet of cargo ships. On board, there were cheers of success, even parties were thrown, as planet-cracking is a dangerous business. Suddenly the Holo-Reader flashed red, and continued flashing until the Comms officer took notice, "Sir, we've got an issue here," the officer paused as he read through the message in entirety, "We've got a galactic message from a new species. Seems they're introducing themselves on an intergalactic stage. What are your orders sir?"

The captain took his eyes off of the collapsed planet, and towards the officer, who had now turned to face the Captain, "Forward it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, immediately!"

"Aye, aye, Captain." the officer turned back around and began to transmit the message.

Ottoman Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Yet another dull day in the office, one of those days when the traffic outside is more interesting then the work that comes across your desk. The minister was on another one of his 'Diplomatic Missions', or in other words, officially unofficial paid vacation. So in his place was a team of secretaries doing their best to dissolve foreign affairs.

A message flashed on the Holo-Reader, seemingly from a mining vessel. Probably wandered into foreign space, was caught, and wanted to be bailed out of jail. Normally these messages were ignored until they had gone through the rest, but today was a slow day, and they needed all they could to keep from falling into a boredom induced coma.

What they found inside the message was not at all what they thought. Instead it was a diplomatic plea for recognition. Immediately the dull office got more exciting, was it a new species? a lost civilization? a futuristic parody of ancient history? whatever it was they replied immediately, using the same mining vessel as an intermediary.

Outer Orbit

The first shard slammed into orbit over the planet, smacking into the location with a startlingly amount of velocity. It stopped moving as quickly as it came, the black hull melding back into the void as its acceleration ceased. It crested around towards the darkside of the planet, moving into the gravity well and subsequent sensor blackout of the shadow. It hung there suspended before several more followed behind it, their jagged shapes taking up position behind the first.

The three were Sleipnirs, mid-weight craft designed for toe to toe engagements with larger vessels in wolf pack designed assaults. They were light but powerful, focusing more on maneuverability as per the prerogative of the Ty'Ralyain. However, massive guns branched out of the tapered spike resembling massive cylinders big enough for two men to stand in on each others shoulders.

They guided themselves into the gravity well of the planet, obscuring themselves from basic sensors and masking their engine signatures in the radiation backwash of the sun. As they situated a few smaller versions of themselves flitted out from the bowels of the vessels, moving in two small wedge formations. Roughly ten made up each one with about four together in transport roles making up the barest mark of one hundred twenty matrons. They guided towards the planet, looking to make a quick gain on the naive empire that foolishly exposed themselves into a terrible galaxy.

Caziv nodded politely at the Ambassador's words, and followed after the man into the building, his Servitors padding soundlessly behind. The armed Potentials fell in behind him as the party walked into a form of airlock. Outer doors closed with a hiss of hydraulics, and after a few microseconds of atmospheric compensation the inner locking devices disengaged and the Ascended and the humans walked on deeper into the complex. The Aviat noticed with casual observation the sparse almost bare condition of the halls through which the part walked; no objects to get broken if guests had to be disposed of he supposed. His first exchange with the Ambassador had not been overly encouraging as to this race's Potential, but to judge on an initial impression and insufficient data was a task for younger species, not the rationality of the Ascendancy. They seemed to be slightly paranoid- no, that was too strong a word- wary of the Aviat and his guards, a justifiable position to take. He doubted these humans knew it yet, but their message to the universe had invited far crueler beings than Caziv to their world. Indeed, the Aviat generally regarded himself of being of jovial disposition. Perhaps it was only the Servitors that were throwing them off, for he admitted internally that perhaps bringing them had not had the result he had hoped for. Regardless, there was nothing to be done about it now.

Perhaps in time he could cure them of their suspicion towards him, but that all depended on their culture. Thankfully that was one facet of these Potentials about which he was particularly curious. As the group walked along silently the Aviat spoke to the Ambassador.

"Ambassador, how am I expected to address this Dotorum? And, if I may ask, precisely what is his role in your society?" With any luck Caziv would be able to anticipate any faux-pas in this important meeting with more information about the man he would speak with. That was the idea at least.

Farhalon wrote:On the outer rim of a single arm of a common spiral galaxy, a star shines its dying light upon a world.

Tunos

The message was intercepted by a scout vessel, investigating a solar system. They transferred it to their command vessel, who sent it through a series of relays spread out over two lightyears to the Deep-space colony known as Azurfaunt. The commander there immediately sent it back to the home system on the fastest ship they had available. It arrived two days later at the System Control Station orbiting the gas planet Aeris. The Fleet commander assigned it as a Red-file, which is the highest clearance he could give, and sent it to the Coalition's Grand Council on the planet Kolman.

The Grand Council arrived, the walls of the courtroom emanating heat from the newly lit torches and chandelier. It was archaic, more for symbolism than actual practicality, but served its purpose. Four individuals entered, two Daer, two Kolmanians. Each sat at a desks that were arranged in a semi-circle. Each desk had the report on it. As they sat down, a Kolmanian councilman spoke.
"Who had the audacity to wake us up at two in the morning for a Red-file?"
A Daer scrolled down the pad to the confidentiality table. "Actually, when it arrived here, it was classified as Black. I'd say it's worth looking over."
"You think everything's worth looking over."
"Maybe everything is."
"Anyway..." The second Kolmanian broke the two. "Oh my... this is contact with another species... and here I we were the only two in existence." He looked genuinely surprised as he looked at the others.
"Is this a hoax? I don't want to start sending bouquets of roses until I know they actually exist."
"Well, there's only one way to find out."

The scout ship drifted in the asteroid field, only using engines when a large asteroid came too close. The Daer pilot walked to the back of the small ship. It wasn't larger than a bedroom, but with only one crew member, it was big enough. Laying down on the bed, he decided to get a few minutes of sleep. Just before his eyes closed, the communications console began beeping. Sighing in frustration, he got up and read the message. He lit up with surprise and relayed it immediately to the coordinates listed.

Greetings,
on behalf of the Kolman-Dae Coalition, we are proud to have received contact from your species. We have sent a light cruiser with Diplomat Aerik Numan. This cruiser is being escorted by a compliment of 14 fighters, stored in the cruisers hanger. They will arrive at your coordinates soon, when they do, Diplomat Numan will be the voice of the Coalition to your people.

The Dotorum stood stiffly near his window inside of the large central building that stood in the dome, deeply pondering. What ramifications would this action cost their empire? Was the Guardian ill advised in seeking the outer universe? Perhaps this 'New Era' had come too quickly. Perhaps they should have waited until they had gotten twenty or so more life-sustaining planets, and a few hundred more asteroids before they had started this new exploration. Perhaps-

He saw something out of the corner of his eye, and looked toward it. Autindaun was very visible from where he stood. He could see the Autin Hal in all of it's mountainous glory, and he could see the four largest cities on the continent with ease. He could also see four points of light, which he immediately recognized as the four beta-class ships that the Guardian told him he would send toward Tunos. But, although beautiful the planet was and although it was good to see the ships, that was not what had caught his eye. He could see a very swift streak of light appearing, then quickly dissapearing behind Autindaun. He squinted his eyes. What the hell was that? He stared at the exact spot for a while, his paranoia creeping over him. Was it an alien attack force? Were they going to try to destroy his people, and his population? His thoughts were interrupted by the high-pitched whistle of another communication. He stared at the spot for another minute, and shook his head.

"Paranoia..." He muttered to himself. "Downfall of every man. Must be nothing." He turned back to the chamber, opened it, and entered in the proper code to receive the message. He peered through the viewing port, and after a moment, an image appeared. It was an ornate crest, covered with many devices and symbols that he recognized, and many symbols that he did not. The writing, though, he noted, looked very similar to the ancient writing of the people of the Tiy'ming Desert, before global unification forced the language of Farhalon upon them. His ponderings were quickly cut off by the message that came through in audio.

Aldar XVI Lucien,

Hello, and welcome to the intergalactic scale. I am, or rather, we are the Ottoman Ministers of Foreign Affairs. Regarding your message, we would be most pleased to meet you, or your representative in the location of your choice, please reply as soon as possible, we would love to become acquainted with you, and your people.

Our Dearest Condolences,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

He nodded, and thought briefly. After a moment's time, he flipped the switch, turning the device and scanner on. After another moment, he spoke.

"Hail to you, Ministry. I am the Dotorum of Janeway, andI have received your message. You are approved to establish diplomatic relations with the people of the Shrempleist Union. I am afraid that I cannot send you direct coordinates, as I am unaware of any official galactic map, so you will have to extrapolate it by location. Once you arrive, please proceed to the moon Tunos- The one with an elliptical orbit- and land upon the only city that it contains. We will guide your path via trivariable frequency, rotating at these three numbers." His hands glide over the touchpad, entering the three numbers instinctively. "Here is our local atmospheric composition, so you may take the necessary precautions." He typed in the numbers- 95% Nit, 4% Oxy, .05% Neo, .04% CO2, .01% Other- and spoke again. "I will look forward to meeting your representative, should I get the opportunity. May the Triad guide your Path." He sent the message, and left the chamber. He went back to his ambassador-contact panel, opened it, and pressed the button labeled 'Y-05'.

"Ambassador, you're up. Summon the Sixth Platoon, and proceed to the third docking area, and allow entry. Remember your training, and good luck." He ended the transmission. Y-05 was a very reliable man; He didn't leave an opening for a response because he knew it would not be necessary. He would do his task to the letter without extra incentive. He turned back to the docking areas.

"Hm... Only five docks left. If this keeps up for long, I'm going to have to start sending ambassadors to them."

@Ty-Ralyain; I wrote the first part of my post under the assumption that you were circling around my home planet, and not my moon. If I'm wrong, please tell me and I will correct it.

Also, to those who may not know, the atmospheric composition of the Earth has a lot more oxygen than that of the station, at about 20% oxygen, so if your people breathe an earth-like atmosphere, keep in mind that, without proper gear, you would likely find yourself unable to breathe very well.

You were correct in your assumption. The moon is not seen as much of a potential sport judging the lack of atmosphere and the clsoed facility. It wouldn't be a war that suited them.

Arch Nyla checked on her forty matrons. They represented the 1st warband on the ground. Three others had deployed as well, one to the west of her position around the equator in the Western Hemisphere, another to the east just north of the Equator in the Eastern Hemisphere and one north of her in the northern wastes of the planet. Each had a simple goal. Explore and label civilian centers, military facilities and any patrol routes they had. It was a simple recce mission until the second phase was declared. Then the attacks on small targets would begin securing as many prisoners as possible before retreating into the void.

Nyla was an average sized Ty'Ralyain with palid green skin and blisteringly blue eyes. Even with her helmet on the glow from them could be seen through the tinted plas-glass. Her armor was a light version, having modified with less armor plates around the shoulders and hips making movement easier. It of course sacrificed protection. However, with her long Le'the she doubted someone could get close enough for that.

She raised her hand up and gave a quick movement with her wrist. The motion filtered to the other matron's helmets easily identifying the non-verbal command. They started to move out in their separate hosts of ten. The first took the central spearhead of their wedge with the second bringing up their left flank. The third and fourth formed the right flank, scurrying through the bush.

They headed south, sticking into the underbrush and trees moving quietly.

The Ambassador smiled as he walked through the barren halls of the city. He felt a lot safer now that he wasn't so close to the vacuum of space, and it also helped that he was even closer to the patrols of soldiers. He heard the alien's questions, and spoke his reply.

"His is one of the Council of the Triad, which is a composition of each of the priests of the highest ranking in our society. As the Dotorum, he advises the Guardian upon the will of the god, Janeway, which primarily encompasses scientific matters; The other two being the Vindicator of Marsaeries and the Seer of 'Notch'. They, as a whole, are the primary advisers to the Guardian with foreign and economic affairs. Each member of the Council is chosen by the Guardian himself. Because of this, they are always treated with utmost respect. I don't believe you must worry much, however; He will not know what to expect from an alien. I only advise you to treat him with a basic level of courtesy, at the least. Luckily, you will be the first to meet him, since you are the first to send word to us." He nodded, and walked a few more seconds in silence before speaking.

"My apologies if I offend you by asking, but... How is it, exactly, that you manage to survive the vacuum of space without air, or without imploding, or without your coat becoming brittle? It is a curiosity indeed, and I would like to know."

May the Triad watch over you, and may your Paths be cleared."

Karlsland Galactic Probe RS-26H36A

Amusingly enough, this message was picked up by a Karlsland galactic probe built for the sole purpose of detecting life on other planets. And although it wasn't often that sapient life screamed its existence to the heavens in such an extravagant manner, it was more than capable of detecting it. It then forwarded the message to the Imperial Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Minister examined the message, then he sent one of his own to the source.

Ottoman Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Again, counting the number of red vehicles in traffic became more amusing then waiting for a reply. They had just reached thirty when the Holo-Reader flashed again. Quickly, all of the secretaries jumped at the message. Each man and woman read through the message thouroughly, "So, these people don't breathe oxygen, or their respiratory system has acquainted itself to the low levels of oxygen. One of the ministers thought out loud.

"They have no idea what part of the galaxy they reside in, and no understanding of the galaxy around them."

"And they have enough moons that they have to identify them by their revolution relative to their planet."

"Excellent! Just the kind of allies anyone could want! Contact an ambassador at once, we must be on our way."

Ottoman Diplomatic Fleet

The small fleet of ships, consisting of the primary ambassadorial vessel and three small vessels, two of which were there purely for fuel, while the last was a small security force, left the system at the fastest rate possible. Utilizing an elaborate system of hypergates, the Diplomatic Fleet was able to warp to the closest possible system, which was still a day's journey away from the aliens.

A massive equipment check was ordered, every man and woman was ordered to check their weapons, air supply, re-breather, body armor, anything that could possibly be necessary for this diplomatic meeting. First impressions are always important, this one in particular will decide how an entire species views the Ottoman empire.

Gaia, Proxima Centauri
2367th Year (Standard Terran), 27:46 Local Time
Guoling Corporate Headquarters

The halls of the ancient facility were coarse and grey. Several passages were carved from rough stone, like echoes of the ancient past. Hundreds of years ago, the first settlers from what was known as Terra came here, seeking a new life. It was a milestone in the Race's history. They had propelled themselves beyond the solar system which had nurtured them for so long, and extended Humanity's reach. It was the dawn of a new era, and Progress would guide all sentient life forward into a new age of unlimited potential. Or so many thought.

Nothing is forever. War, death, and disaster struck during the chaos which was the 22nd century. Mankind had overextended his grasp, and suffered greatly for it. The small colony had become self-sufficient, but radio contact with Sol was lost. Isolated and alone in a black sea of infinity, the settler had to adapt to survive, and many sacrifices were made. To call what was left 'human' is inaccurate, but the remnants of the original group survived, and eventually thrived again on the alien world.

Executive Liuzong gazed out of the reinforced glass, admiring the strength and versatility of the carbon nanotube mesh which protected the room from the outside. It was another cold day, at around 150 Celsius. Benzene smog blotted out the Sun, and cast a grey shadow over the weathered calcite formations.

The Lanzhou Corporation was the main authority figure in the area, and its security forces were invisible but permeated public life as extensively as the many atmospheric reprocessers which dotted the planet's surface. The name was a result of the group's origin. A country once known as "China" had been one of three entities (besides "America" and "India") to sponsor the original Colonization, and was fittingly represented in the population.

"Sir, I have picked up a broad frequency radio transmission. It is not of any known channels on Planet surface," the AI spoke. Its voice was pre-programmed to be female, but Liuzong still recognized the monotone, electronic voice which identified the speaker as nothing more than a sophisticated neural network, processing terabytes of information via the optic cables which ran to a nearby mainframe.

"Could you patch it in please?"

"Yes, Mr. Liuzong."

A garbled transmission floods the room. Liuzong initially interprets it as some transmission problem, but the immensity of it dawns on him within seconds.

"Kerry, where did that signal come from?"

"I have pinpointed the frequency to the following location. Coordinates will be uploaded onto your starmap now. My data algorithms have identified it as a language. There is an underlying pattern...syntax if you will. I have alerted the Council too."

"Thank you."

Now he could worry about those Collectivist freaks. They were becoming a major issue in all the colonies.
------------------------------
Council Room, First Landing Colony

It had been decided. The makeshift alliance, which had formed after the termination of contact with Terra, had actually agreed upon something within a few hours. It was truly remarkable, but quite dull in comparison to the knowledge which had just been divulged. Humanity, or at least what had emerged from it, was not alone.

Preparations had been quick, and a craft had been assembled from deep within the facility. The red beacons flashed in the howling wind as the earth parted, revealing an ancient vessel from the planet's history.

A crew of several hundred had been chosen, and would be guided by Zaira Na'azkulan, a pilot for Kobold Geo-Engineering.The soft humming of the internal monitors briefly put the passengers into a lull, but the momentary peace was immediately interrupted by a fission reaction which took place in the engines. The resulting thrust accelerated the ship to just beyond escape velocity.

The crew gazed out of the front windows, looking back on their small home. The ship was now a tiny refuge in a massive world. As the blue and yellow landscape of their home gave way to nothingness, the crew sensed an entirely new feeling. It was sorrow, but not necessarily for the unknown which lay ahead, or the dangers which would be present. It was...homesickness, an emotion difficult to contain when one's home was a metal can buried under a toxic atmosphere. Their eyes shifted from Gaia to another piece of matter in the empty space around them, although this one induced an entirely different range of emotions.

The Jump Gate, as it was known, predated Human civilization in the area, and if the archives were correct, human civilization itself. What purpose the monstrous, alien architecture had became apparent many years ago, when a research satellite abruptly disappeared after passing through the gateway into another world.

Many years of study had allowed for rudimentary operation of the device, and if all went according to plan, the vessel should be transported to the nearest corresponding gate near the source of the radio signal.

The metallic yawn of the ship grew as it approached the ring. Not a sound was uttered by any of the crew, and for a few seconds, Silence became their Universe. It seemed as if all of creation had simply stopped. The air was fragile. Then, the ship experienced massive vibrations as it was moved not across, but between the many folds of reality. No one dared open their eyes.

Sincerely,
Kolman Grand Councilman Yurik
Kolman Grand Councilman Daks
Daer Grand Councilman Vistichi
Daer Grand Councilman Elheir

The Dotorum was now standing ready by the chamber, awaiting any more indicators that would come from aliens. He was quickly realizing that this wasn't just going to be a vacation; These diplomatic missions may end up taking days, if not months, to complete and establish. Eventually, he would have to leave and establish an official ambassador to the city, and he had already begun to think of who could take his place. Z-10, perhaps, or maybe Y-05. He heard another indicator buzz, and quickly entered the chamber to see who it could be this time.

He flicked entered the proper codes, and looked through the viewing port. Once again, he saw no image, and heard only audio.

A cruiser, with fourteen fighters. He shook his head in dismay. The Guardian would not be too happy to have to send more ships, but it would be imperative if they were to maintain order within their own home. He flicked the switch, and began to transmit his usual message.

"Hail to you, good councilmen! I am glad to see that our message of the new era is going so far and wide. As you already know our coordinates, the only thing I will ask is that you proceed directly to the moon, Tunos, the one with an irregular orbit around our world, and go to the docking area. We will guide your path via trivariable frequency, which I will post. Also, be sure to take the proper precautions in accordance with our atmoshpere, which I will also send to you. I may not be able to meet with you immediately upon arrival- We have been getting a lot of 'visitors' lately- So I ask that you treat the Ambassador assigned to you with respect. Thank you, and may the Triad guide your path." He then entered in the required information, including the three numbers, and '95% Nit, 4% Oxy, .05% Neo, .04%CO2, .01% Other', and sent the transmission.

Once the transmission had sent, he left the chamber, opened the panel, and pressed a button without thinking.

"Ambassador, summon the Eighth Platoon, open Dock 4, and await the arrival of the new guest. Good luck." He ended the transmission, and pressed another button, this time with slightly more consideration.

"Ambassador, I must attend to a meeting with the aliens that have been contacting us. You are to speak for me from this point on. Make it quick, who knows when we will receive another one." He ended the transmission after receiving a quick 'yes', and brushed his ornate robes. He quickly left the room, and descended into the lower level where the representative for the Ascendancy would be meeting him.

The Ambassador had just arrived, only to see the lights of a new transmission flashing. He quickly brushed his robe, and walked within, entering the proper codes to hear the message.

The Ambassador nodded with excitement. He understood most of the message, though there were a few words that he did not quite understand. What did 'Anglo-Germanic' mean? Perhaps their world is called 'German', and it is ruled by the Anglese people? It would make sense; The people of his world were often called 'Farhalonian-Autindauns.' He shook his head, and stroked his large, white beard. It didn't matter; He would find out soon enough, he supposed, though he certainly wasn't getting any younger. He shrugged his shoulders, and flicked the switch to activate the device. It scanned him, like it usually did, and would send a holographic transmission to them as soon as he sent the message.

"Hello, Minister Heidelberg!" he said, jovially. "I am the Ambassador speaking in place for the Dotorum, as he is busy at the moment. Our meeting will take place on the only city of the moon, Tunos. We will help you guide your path via trivariable frequency, I believe. I'll send you those numbers with the transmission, as well as our atmosphere so you can take the necessary precautions. I wish you luck on your journey here!" He then entered the three numbers, and typed in the atmospheric composition of '95%Nit, 4%Oxy, .05%Neon, .04%CO2, .01%Other', and sent the transmission out.

The cruiser pulled out of warp, meeting with the deep space fleet. After almost an hour they had uploaded the latest star charts and anomaly information in the area and were ready to depart to meet with the unknown species. Before leaving, however, their scout ship relayed a message back to them.

"Sir, I've received a message from the unknown species. I'm sending it to you now, I've encrypted your signature on top of it so all future communications will be directed to you."
"Thank you, lieutenant." Ambassador Numan said. "I trust you'll follow policy 9C?"
"Aye, sir, to the letter."
"Very good." Numan ended their communications and proceeded back to his chambers. An ensign turned to look at him.
"Ambassador, what's policy 9C?"
"Basically, don't breathe a word about this new species to anyone or anything until the government has made a public announcement about our stance toward them. If you don't follow it, you'll be charged with treason." The ambassador spoke with a sour tone; he was in a particularly bad mood, mostly because he would have to wear a breathing mask on this mission. Both the Daer and the Kolmanians breathed Neon, which was not plentiful in this species atmosphere.
He entered his chambers and looked across the room. A small table sat in the middle with a vase of flowers on it. A sofa sat facing several windows, the stars gleaming through them. He sat on the sofa and faced the windows, turning the holo-imagers on. The room changed to show his homeworld, Dae. None of it was real, of course, but it reminded him of home. He wanted to get this over with so he could return to Dae, to his family.
He felt a jolt as the cruiser went to warp, speeding toward the coordinates.

Caziv chuckled internally as he strode with gracefull gait along side the Ambassador as he learned he was to be the first to meet this Dotorum, essentially their leader on everything scientific. It was most excellent how simple chronological chance had but him in such an advantageous position and the Omnissah must have been watching when it was determined that his first official contact would be a man of logic and region. On such discourse the Ascendancy thrived, and it was his strongest area of knowledge. Even in a century of millenia one could not learn everything that there could be learned on any topic; indeed as he attempted to grasp understanding of the universe it seemed to expand, and his relative comprehension of it shrink. That, however, was the way of learning, and he did not resent it.

This society seemed to put great stock in its religion, an interesting phenomenon, relatively rare amongst the developing species of the galaxy. The Chosen Empire of ancient times had taken their God to the stars too, then cast him off in the chaos and devastation of the Cataclysm of Regret, then clung to the Omnissah once more as their understanding of the universe expanded. A curious parallel indeed.

Caziv's musings were interrupted as the Ambassador asked his own question. Ahhh now here was a stickler. The full truth would unfortunately not do... but a portion of it would put the man's mind at ease and prepare him for the eventual revelation of the true nature of his companion. With no hesitation the Aviat spoke, his voice touched with mirth, the question processed and its answer prepared even before the man had concluded the nicety that ended his inquiry. "The answer, Ambassador, lies in my bodily composition. I am, quite simply put, not a creature of nature. I have been augmented by the same material that makes up my bodyguards." At this the Ascended gestured to the two silent Servitors that stalked along behind him in all their metallic dismorphism. "This situation has altered my physical form and I no longer suffer many of the vulnerabilities that my native form did. My people call it flowmetal, and it is one of our greatest acheivements. My brain, my heart, my lungs, my skin, even my garb; all are suffused with it, enabling me to sustain my cognitive functions with no oxygen, or indeed atmosphere, and preventing the deleterious of any atmosphere from hindering my existence. How exactly it does so is unfortunately a mystery to even me, so regrettably I will not be able to entirely satisfy your curiousity, as I am a simple explorer and not by any means a master engineer such as those that enacted my modifications."

The Aviat smiled as the Ambassador seemed to mull this answer over in his mind. "But now let me continue this game and chase an answer with a question of you. Your people, to my uninformed eyes, closely resemble many other races that inhabit this galaxy. You look at me with wonder, but I assure you you are not alone of your genetic stock, by appearances at least. If this is not a mistaken impression, your race should breathe a much more oxygen-rich atmosphere than that in which we currently walk. Have your people too engineered away your needs, or have you come upon some other solution?"

The Ambassador that was acting in place of the Dotorum heard the message, and lumbered over to the transceiver. He cracked his back, and entered the chamber. After flicking a switch, he spoke.

"Hello, Amica!"he said, a big smile underneath his beard. "Please proceed to an open dock, and an ambassador will receive you." He sent the transmission, and shut off the holoscanner. He then left, and went to sit upon the office chair to rest his tiring legs.

The City

The Ambassador nodded at the answer, though not happily. 'Flowmetal', as the alien put it; The same material that his robots were made of. So, he was a cyborg, then? That made a lot of sense, although he did not like it one bit. To be augmented by mechanical means was a mostly illegal procedure among his people, unless it was under extreme circumstances, and then it could only be done sparingly. It was seen to be trying to improve the natural order of things, with things that were not natural; It was almost as bad as the explicitly prohibited practice of Necromancy. His thoughts, however, were interrupted by the Alien's question.

"The past two Dotori have carefully orchestrated a Eugenics project, on a very grand scope if I may be so bold to say. Thus far, over the course of an entire lifetime, we have managed to alter the genetic needs of every single living creature on our planet, or at least to a scale where they can keep the species going when phase two is carried out. You see, we plan to extract a great deal of the oxygen from the atmosphere of our world, to lower it to the same level of composition on our planet. We are doing this for two reasons. The first, is that our weapons function far better in oxygen-poor environments- Due to the way it reacts, the power of the weapon is somewhat diffused in the atmosphere, and the accuracy is reduced. And the second is for the t-" He caught himself. There was no need for the alien to know about the ongoing effort to start a terraforming project. "The second is for a very large project. Under any case, due to the rather long lifespan of humans, the Guardian has issued an ultimatum to the younger populace whom haven't been genetically engineered; They will be given a pair of genetically engineered lungs to replace their faulty ones. And if they do not choose to go through the process... Well, I'm sure you can use your imagination." The Ambassador smirked at the prospect.

"Ah, we are here at last!" He gestured to the central building in the middle of the dome. It was very large, easily towering over all of the embassy buildings. He punched in a code, and looked back toward the alien, though avoiding eye contact; He did not like to look into the unnatural, swirling pools of light. "You may enter. The Dotorum is awaiting your arrival."
